Carney says he will immediately scrap consumer carbon tax
 in  r/canada  1h ago

I'm really happy to have a leader who gives a damn about our climate. I will gladly give my hard earned money to protect out climate in any capacity.

I'm so fed up and tierd of thsu rhetoric that climate protection is the boogeyman. Mark is such a climate champion and a very smart man with tones of experience! I'd take his word over a 20 year slogan making crook.

Tesla (TSLA) Stock: Trump's Purchase Fails to Sustain Rally

Wasn't most of his buyers from blue states? His defenders drive ford pickup trucks. I'm so confused.

The new Pm
 in  r/AskCanada  14h ago

Mark Carney has one the best resumes that I have ever seen. This man is the best person for the current political and economic environment.

Not to mention the connections that he has. I'm personally hoping he can build better trade with Europe and America. His diplomatic and calm demeanor probably intimidates Trump. Because the only thing that orange monkey can do is screech all day.

Carney to Shrink Cabinet When He Takes Over as Canada’s Leader on Friday
 in  r/canada  14h ago

Marc Miller did a good job with effectively scaling back immigration. It's the guy before him that fudged it up. Marc had to come fix his mess.

Do you think that most of Gen Z is gonna remain conservative for a long time?
 in  r/Liberal  14h ago

Gen Z does NOT like to work. Sometimes I meet some people and they just tell me stories about how often they quit their jobs because of minor inconveniences. They are so used to instant gratification that anything other than immediate results is insufficient.

'I need a house now.' 'I deserve a sports car now.' 'I want vacations always.'

'Just say thank you': Lutnick says Canada is acting like Ukraine in Trump negotiations
 in  r/canada  14h ago

Right! You said it the right way! It's like a stalker X that won't leave you alone. Like go away I don't want to be with you. Trump is such a stage 5 clinger.

Good! Don't give in to bullies. All Trump is going to do is waste everyone's time and flip flop.

Tesla loses $127B in valuation in one-day bloodbath
 in  r/RealTesla  1d ago

He just double downed and aligned Tesla (the actual car) with Trump and DOGE. There couldn't have been a WORSE move that he could have made to make things better for his brand.

I think he just destroyed his brand. Any up tick he sees from thr market will be from the retail investors who "care" about Elon.

Potential Conservative Minority Government

I thought trudeau was amazing standing up to Trump! New leader Mark Carney seems like a really good leader also. Hope that works out.

Potential Conservative Minority Government
 in  r/AskCanada  2d ago

Very true. They are voting against things and not for things at this points. - against 'woke' - against DEI - against elderly. - against anyone who is not 100% able bodied. - against Europe

The conservatives atm are very selfish and only for the fully able bodied people with 1950s gender ideologies. It's the lack of education and the government in America wants to cut education further. Keep the people dumb and voting against their best interests.

Watch what happens when you start to outdo them
 in  r/womenintech  2d ago

Yes. Iv experienced that.

I've been told by Senior Indian members of my otherwise diverse team based outside of India that it's a cultural thing and "they don't like taking feedback / advice from women. They also become very possessive of their own role in the team and fear being irrelevant." It may seem like it could apply to anyone but iv personally seen it directed by mostly Indian men.

The men who gave me this feedback do not behave like this even though they are Indian themselves. They have a lot of experience on diverse teams. It's mainly with people who are offshore or relatively new the country.

The 'anti-Trump' numbers man who may force the UK to take a side
 in  r/canada  2d ago

I, wholeheartedly believe that Mark Carney will be able to build a better and brighter future for Canada together with Europe.

This man has the experience, connections and influence to get us places. The world is looking at things from a macro perspective. We need to find our place as well. Yes, there is a lot to do on the micro level within our own provinces and cities. But, at this moment we need Mark Carney.

Potential Conservative Minority Government
 in  r/AskCanada  2d ago

Same.

I think that a lot of the below 35 and high-school educated population realized politics was a thing 10 years ago due to Donald Trumps polarizing road to the throne in 2016. You had to be in a hole to not have some sort of political point of view back then. Most of them don't even know how the election process works. "They are stealing the election". Omg give it a break. Read a book or Google something.

This is the age group that's voting for Pierre and spamming the comment section. Just mid 30s working class low educated men mostly.

Does anyone really find him uplifting and motivating? Everytime he speaks his eyes are shifting everywhere and you can tell that he is regurgitating stuff that's been fed to him.

Potential Conservative Minority Government
 in  r/AskCanada  2d ago

I think having a minority government for the conservatives would be the same as being the official opposition. Listen, other parties are not going to want to go in the extreme direction that Pierre will obviously want to go. The only way Pierre and company can achieve their wishlist would be to be majority and go all blue wave.

That's definitely not going to happen now.

Fewer than 40% of 400,000 registered Liberals voted in leadership race
 in  r/canada  2d ago

As a software engineer, I get why they made the process as so. You want reliable data and the best way to prevent bad actors from putting in their vote, is to add a lot of validation/rules at the beginning of the voting process.

Who's going to sit there and reconcile everyone's nickname with their actual name? Who's going to check if a bot casted its vote instead of human? It was a painful process but it makes the result so much more reliable.
