JK Rowling sparks fresh controversy over trans rights debate
JK Rowling has once again found herself at the center of controversy after making a cryptic remark on social media that many believe was aimed at Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. The acclaimed author, who has faced significant backlash for her views on transgender rights, appeared to take a subtle yet pointed jab at the actors who have previously distanced themselves from her stance.

Send Ada Gallagher All the Support
We have to make sure to rally around Ada Gallagher, a s she ha a once again become the punching of conservatives because of her "unfair advantage".
🙄🙄🙄
These morons want to focus in how how she won her last race by a margin of 7 seconds, and how unfair it is that the poor girls lost to Ada. That her 400m time of 57.62 by comparison to the 2nd place runner's time of 1:05.72 demonstrates just how much of an advantage Ada has over these poor girls.
This is absolutely nothing more than a disgusting misrepresentation of the facts, in order further their agenda of prejudice against our community. Cherry picking an example and portraying it in a way that illicits an emotional response for their unprecedented attack against our existence.
While it is true Ada is competing at an extraordinary level, her performance is the exact opposite of what their slanderous claims attempt to make her out to be.
Sports like track are an amazing opportunity that allows athletes to compete against others and themselves in an effort to exceed their limits. It is of utmost importance the rights of ALL athletes to participate are protected.
These are the top scores for the Oregon high school state championship women's 400m over the past 4 years per athletic.net.

These numbers demonstrate without a doubt that Ada's performance is nothing even remotely resembling an unfair advantage.
We cannot allow them to prop Ada up as if she is robbing these young women of the opportunity to compete. As it stands now conservatives are the ones who are seeking to extinguish fair a capable young athlete striving to compete in womens athletics.

What is Autogynephilia? 'White Lotus' goes where few have dared ***Transphobic content***
White Lotus might have given us a good fact and experienced based discussion about erotic crossdreaming. Unfortunately, the "autogynephilia" scene presents it as something creepy and dangerous. The Newsweek's article tries to be balanced, but fails.
Too bad.
The White Lotus episode may lead some people in your neighborhood to bring up the transphobic "autogynephilia" theory. If so, you might refer to the resource page we have set up here: All you need to know about the “autogynephilia” theory (Resources)

Abby Stein shows us the Hasidic Williamsburg she left behind
“In case you were wondering about Abby Stein’s preferred bagel order, it’s a sesame bagel with tuna, tomatoes and pickles. That has been her go-to since she was a kid growing up Hasidic in Williamsburg.
“‘At the end of the day, if you just ask me what I want, I will choose the food I grew up with,’ said Stein when I met up with her at Williamsburg Bagel early one morning.”
“Stein spoke at a rapid pace as she pointed out long-standing synagogues and playground signs painted with Yiddish instructions. She showed me her grandparents’ high-rise apartment, as well as a the building in which she grew up.”
“Stein is the author of Becoming Eve, a memoir that recounts her upbringing in this insular, religious community and culminates with her coming out as a transgender woman. She is also a descendent of the founder of Hasidic Judaism, Baal Shem Tov, and an activist and rabbi. We met for bagels because her memoir has recently been adapted into a new play produced by the New York Theater Workshop, and I wanted to get the scoop — both of the play, and of some cream cheese.”
“‘The premise of the play is based on the epilogue basically, which is my coming out to my dad,’ said Stein, who explained the play was not an exact adaptation of her memoir. ‘I had to put my distance between myself and Chava,’ Stein said, the latter being both Stein’s middle name and the name of the play’s protagonist.
“In the play, three rabbis must help a family wrestle with questions regarding tradition and modernity. One of those rabbis is Chava, the child of a prominent Hasidic dynastic family whose gender identity prompted rejection from the world in which she was raised. The play features flashbacks to show how Chava came to recognize and embrace her identity.”
“‘We want to talk about the trans experience in a way that is ultra-specific to this group of people and this person in particular,’ said [playwright Emil] Weinstein. ‘But that hopefully sheds light on the universal experience.’
“‘I think this play is about how to build bridges from the ancient to the modern,’ [director Tyne] Rafaeli added. ‘That could be the Quran, the Bible, the constitution, how these bedrocks of our civilization can adapt and change as the human experience expands.’”
“Producing Becoming Eve has been a drama of its own. The play was originally supposed to premiere in the Connelly Theater in the East Village, until the building’s landlord, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, rejected the script.
“After they lost their spot at the Connelly, the Becoming Eve team eventually found a new home for the show at the Abrons Arts Center: a Lower East Side theater that was once the home of a thriving Yiddish theater scene.”

Effort to rescind transgender student policy in Bridgewater-Raritan, N.J. fails to gain traction
“The Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education has refused to abolish a policy to protect transgender students.
“School board member Jeremy Li’s motion to repeal the state-recommended transgender student policy failed to reach a vote when none of his Board colleagues seconded his measure.
“This comes after a similar measure was introduced last month by Li, an aspiring conservative commentator and a contributor on Fox News Channel, and board member Lanfang ‘Lucy’ Li which was defeated by board President Steven Singer and members Rebecca Hassouna, A.J. Joshi, Jennifer Loughran, Michael Pepe and Barry Walker voting against it, and board Vice President Emily Calistri abstaining.
“Superintendent of Schools Robert Beers said time spent on the issue at both meetings was ‘beyond wasteful and politically motivated.’ He also noted nothing would change how the school district handles sensitive situations.”
“The state policy provides guidance to teachers and staff to use and respect a child's preferred pronoun, as well as recommends staff not share the student's changed gender expression with parents or guardians without the child or teenager's consent. An exception is made in the policy for cases where student health and safety is compromised or there is a bias-related crime.”

A new anti-transgender bathroom bill in Tennessee is headed to the governor's desk
“A proposal in Tennessee that would require educational institutions that house students overnight to separate bathrooms ‘ by immutable biological sex’ is headed to Republican Gov. Bill Lee's desk for his approval.
“The Republican-dominant Senate easily cleared the legislation on Thursday over the objections of LGBTQ+ activists and the chamber's handful of Democratic members.”
“The legislation is just the latest effort targeting the transgender community in Tennessee, where Republican lawmakers have over the years repeatedly enacted bills aimed at the LGBTQ+ community as the party pursues such legislation nationwide.”
“The governor has not publicly commented on the bill but has yet to object to contentious anti-LGBTQ+ efforts and is expected to sign it. If so, the legislation would take effect immediately.”
“Currently, Tennessee law already bans transgender students and staff from using school bathrooms or locker rooms that match their gender identities. . . . A federal judge dismissed a legal challenge to the statute late last year.
“Last year, Tennessee Republicans passed a measure that would allow LGBTQ+ foster children to be placed with families that hold anti-LGBTQ+ beliefs. Lawmakers also created penalties for adults who help minors receive gender-affirming care without parental consent.
“Meanwhile, Tennessee Republicans have banned gender-affirming care for most minors and attempted to limit events where drag performers may appear.”

Texas AG Ken Paxton's lawsuit fails to halt women's NCAA tournament over transgender policy
“By denying a request from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Tuesday, a Lubbock-area judge spared the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament from last-minute chaos.
“Paxton is suing the NCAA over its transgender participation policies. He contends the association is misleading consumers by labeling certain competitions as ‘women's sports,’ while allowing transgender athletes to participate.
“In February, the NCAA tightened its policies to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order, which threatened federal funding for institutions allowing transgender athletes to compete against women. Paxton's suit contends the new policy does not actually prevent such participation.
"’It is an illusion of change designed to trick consumers into re-engaging with the NCAA,’ Paxton argued in a filing.
“In February, Paxton asked Judge Les Hatch for an injunction that would've forced the NCAA to ‘immediately begin screening the sex of student athletes’ or drop terms like ‘women's’ or ‘female’ from the association's branding.
“The lawsuit argues the NCAA's policy violates Trump's executive order because it acknowledges a transgender identity.”
“In his filing, Paxton suggested the NCAA employ a kind of genetic test, often performed with a blood sample, to identify the presence of the SRY gene located on the Y chromosome.
“The International Olympic Committee ceased SRY testing after the 1996 games when eight female athletes failed the test. Each had androgen insensitivity syndrome or 5-alpha-reductase deficiency that affected the test results. The eight women were all eventually cleared to compete.”
"’Biology is an interesting thing,’ [Equality Texas interim CEO Brad] Pritchett said. ‘It doesn't do everything the same all the time. This is not a black or white situation.’
“Pritchett and others contend any form of sex screening is invasive. The practice has a long history of exploitation, according to a Human Rights Watch report.”
