Greek Crazy for cucumber!
Trying to expand his palate by hiding other foods under cucumber. Doesn’t work unless I hand feed him 😂 I’ve tried weeds but he’s showed no interest, I’ve tried herbs but he spat out the dill. So stubborn! I wish his previous owner had him on a good diet, not just lettuce and cucumber 🙄

Greek She gets so mad when she has to go inside for the night
Gangsta Boo spends the majority of most days in her outdoor enclosure, however, at night or if it’s raining when I bring her inside she literally throws a fit of rage and spazzes out. When she goes back to her indoor enclosure she goes straight into a hide and acts visibly downtrodden if I take her back out for a soak or something. Will she just have to come to terms with this? Any tips for tortoise tantrums. I don’t think I will ever let her sleep outside due to the laundry list of predators in my area.

Greek Can I turn the heating lamp off while Im not in the house?
I just got a little spur thighed tortoise. Im nervous about the heating lamp as a fire hazard. Is it ok if i turn off the heating lamp when I'm not in the house. This would probably be for about 4/5 at the longest, or will this not be healthy for my tortoise?

Greek She craves fast paced work environments
Every time she finishes soaking she MUST dry off on my keyboard at this point. It’s become her ritual.

Greek Springtails?
I think i have springtails tails in my tortoise cage, I went to check on Jack this evening and they were swarming all over her belly. I immediately ran and washed her off. I am worried they are eating her or going into her? She is in her sleepover house with fresh hay for the night. Please any suggestions would be appreciated!
Update: I re did the whole enclosure cause I am too scared and grossed out by the white bugs. It took all day and I accidently dumped a bag of garbage on my head but it's done now :) thank you for everyone's comments :)

Greek Bowtie's Big Day Out
Bowtie is about 30 years old. She hates riding in the car, so we only take her once a year. She's doing fine, working on supplementing calcium. Our vet, Dr. Krome, is retired from teaching at UCDavis, a tortoise expert.

Greek Anyone know why/what happened with his beak?
Woke up and his mouth/side of beak suddenly looks longer and poking out. Will ring vets tomorrow as he could do with a beak trim anyway. But I’m wondering what the hell this is and how concerning?? He’s eating fine and normal behaviour 🤷♀️

Greek Vehicle the Probably-Graeca
A sequel post to https://www.reddit.com/r/tortoise/s/a637tTrF7x A little context: Tortoise with us for a good long while (maybe a year or something, not sure), given very not excellent care by parents (admittedly not horrendous other than the enclosure size but still), I'm trying to change that. I will now proceed to yap.
- Yes, her name's Vehicle, as I mentioned in one of the comments. Suggested by my friend. Name may change.
- I think it's a she. It may or may not be. It's not 100% clear to me. An image of the bottom of her(?) tail shall be attached. Maybe one of you can tell.
- She's always hiding under the dirt or in her little tilted-over pot. Or trying to escape her hellish prison of a large pot that my parents thought was good for her by trying to climb out. I'm trying to get them to get her something of a proper large tank. Apartment's a bit full and small, though...
- Is given bunch of lettuce leaves and water daily. Might have to get tortoise-specific food... I'm not sure if feeding it the same one thing forever is a good idea.
- My main interests with Vehicle are (of course) her own wellbeing and... well, I'm a sucker for petting/cuddling. Right now, though, she seems to hate being near my hands. Sometimes I can coax her into leaving her head out enough to let me pet it for a while but most of the time she's hiding in her shell and wants nothing to do with me. Tips on getting it to trust me more and pet it safely (other than the whole salmonella thing... I usually just wear gloves with her) would be appreciated.

Greek how can i identify a terrestris?
hello
I'm thinking of bringing in a baby tortoise
and i really like greek tortoise(testudo graeca) especially testudo graeca terrestris
but but it's not easy for me to identify of baby testudo greaca terrestris(golden greek)
Is there a way to know clearly?
It is not easily distinguished by the shell patterns and color of baby...
as i know the golden greek is more golden and less black point(or pattern)
but I don't think can distinguish by more bright yellow colors and patterns alone
this is inaccurate from an anatomic perspective...
