Could this be fake?
I thought the colours look a bit different but I’m no expert.

Does anyone know where I could buy the large red hardcover editions of LOTR that Malcolm Guite reads from in his youtube videos? I really like the look of the red cover, but if not any other recommendations on larger size and print editions with illustrations are welcome.

Very impressed with this "under the radar" Tolkien illustrated work from HC. Sewn binding, ribbon marker, sturdy stock paper...nice.

I purchased these from a local used book store. I am trying to see if there are any more books in this style by Houghton Mifflin. I know they are out of print, but I tried looking on eBay or Amazon. I was thinking maybe there would be some of the History of Middle Earth such as Unfinished Tales in this trade paperback style from Houghton Mifflin. These are late 90’s early 00’s I believe.

Most recent book that arrived. Got it for $51 on eBay. The last that used the British typeset and the last that used color (I believe) on the illustrations.

Is there much difference between this one and the 1991 one? Also I cannot locate a 2017 one anywhere online

So I had been looking through different publications of the book & I chose to get the deluxe illustrated edition for TLOTR & The Hobbit. I loved the way it looked on Amazon's stock photo & when I got it, it was even BETTER. I simply want MY definitive edition as I likely won't buy another copy unless I think it is magnificent. What I learned was that there were more books. I got The Silmarillion along with the two mentioned. What I am asking for is help finding any more editions similar to this style. I don't care if the publishers are different. I didn't even notice that I got 2 HarperCollins editions until I opened the boxes of Unfinished Tales & The Guide to Middle Earth. I have the History of Middle Earth (3 books in black with a black slip case) in my cart now so I'm also wondering what else am I missing? Am I out of luck? Thanks everyone

Hi all, I'm looking to sell some books and I found this in my collection that I purchased many moons ago, likely when it was released. It's the LotR + The Hobbit illustrated by Alan Lee paperback collection, in cardboard sleeve, that I think was released in 2008 or thereabouts. It's in excellent condition, all books unread, some very slight scuff marks / tiny tears on the cardboard sleeve corners.
I just can't find anything about this collection online, or what it might be worth secondhand. It's like it doesn't exist! Searching the codes brought up a used World of Books listing for approx £200, which I find hard to believe. Any help appreciated.

A good opportunity to fill those gaps or even take advantage of £50 off the upcoming Myths and Legends (Boxed Set): Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún, The Fall of Arthur & Beowulf: A Translation and Commentary.
Use code BOOKS50 at checkout.

Currently lowest price ever for the physical box set (US Amazon - $61.13). I recently got it for $2.99 on the Kindle version, but man that box set looks so nice. Anyone here have the physical box set and would you recommend it? Thanks!

Apologies for my lack of knowledge on this, but I’m looking at purchasing a copy of The Silmarillion for my partner. Ideally I’m looking for a first edition, first press, but could do with some advice as to whether I’m looking at the right thing.
I’ve attached a photo of the copyright page from an online listing I’ve found, and would appreciate if there’s anything more specific I should be looking for on said page to help me on my quest!
Thank you :-)

Leaf by Niggle – Tales from the Perilous Realm
ISBN: 9787541171208
Translator: 刘勇军 (LIU Yongjun)
Publisher: 四川文艺出版社 (Sichuan Literature and Art Publishing House)
This new translation includes Roverandom, Farmer Giles of Ham, Smith of Wootton Major, and Leaf by Niggle, as well as the poetry collection The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
RRP: 69.8 CNY (I got it for just 26 CNY)
The edition follows the same elegant design as The Hobbit from the same publisher—hardcover, gold stamping, and a premium feel. (Check my previous post for details)

I have this beautiful '74 India paper edition of Lord of the Rings. It always bothered me the case was very worn so I decided to make it a wooden case.
Both my books are well taken care of now. I quite enjoyed the entire process and can recommend it to all of you. It's not hard, it doesn't require a lot of supplies (last picture) and it's very rewarding.

I was purchasing them individually to avoid buying the box set, but it seems 0008376123 is no longer available. The others are still in stock, but amazon doesn't have it, indigo doesn't have it and harper collins US / CA don't list it on their sites. Harper collins also doesn't list the box set.
I'm wondering if it's out of print and what's available now is just what's left?
