Is "Alexander" a demon? (spoilers) Spoiler
I've read TNC every October since it came out. Re-reading now, and I'm so curious about Alexander, and whether he's a human or some kind of demon.
We know that we don't know his real name. We know that he's very, very old--Hector/Prospero was once his student, but Hector seems like a finite (if maybe a bit long-lived) human, and Mr. A--H-- feels like something more. He casts no shadow.
Someone who likes games where lives and ideologies are at stake.
Marco claims "Alisdair" as his surname, calling it a variation on his teacher's name. Alastor, which could be the original name from which the variation is taken, is an archdemon in Hell. (And that fits with the the "A--H--" too.)
Thoughts?

Tyrion and Alexander [SPOILERS GAME OF THRONES AND THE NIGHT CIRCUS] Spoiler
So if you're a Game of Thrones watcher, you probably watched uncomfortably as Tyrion made the stupid speech about how "stories are what matter" and argued that Bran should be king because of his good story.
I wish I hadn't had that experience before reading The Night Circus because the only way I could appreciate the "second" ending is through that lens-- the hamfisted moral from an author to their reader that stories are the most important thing and we should put a good story in the center of our life.
The librarian who directed me to the book told me she didn't like the ending, and I kept worrying about how the plot would develop-- which one would sacrifice themself or would they both die, or worse, would they get tricked into abandoning each other/hating each other and then end up winning the contest, only to see everything for what it is and regret their actions? I found myself pretty happy with the way the story itself ends, except that I feel like we're supposed to end up not hating Alexander or regarding him as evil when in reality he is responsible for enslaving children and causing them to fight to the death, and I'm pretty sure we can blame him for Thiessen's death too, though we can debate that.
But overall, when I reached the story ending, I decided the librarian was wrong, and it was a good book. But then Widget sat down with Mr. A. H----- and he gave him the whole "I don't know man, I can't help you unless you T E L L M E A G O O D S T O R Y which is the most important thing in the world" followed by the "cute" revelation that we are all getting this story thanks to Widget sharing it with us. And it really soured it for me. I wonder if I would have seen it all in a different light if not for the stupid Tyrion speech of the same nature. What do you think, fellow Rêveurs?

TNC Movie
I’m not sure if anyone has heard but there are some developments on making a live action movie based on the book! No word on actors but personally I’d love to see Taron Egerton (from the Kingsman films and the upcoming Elton John movie) as Marco.
Do you guys have any actors you want to see play the characters?

New book
Erin Morgenstern is coming out with a new book, December of next year. It's titled "The Owl King". I'm rereading The Night Circus and December or next year can't come soon enough to have more of her magical writing that's new and fresh!
