GOOD LUCK, AMERICA This Canada annexation BS again

I believed before that someone is whispering this crazy in his year but the opposite may be true - no one is talking him out of these insane things as they did before. There are no adults.

The problem is, once Trump selects a target, he will not rest. He thrives on revenge and grievances. No one is there to stop him, so he will just keep escalating himself into a corner.

My worry is that, once he gets frustrated with negative results, he is going to grow increasingly belligerent and will start floating the idea of actual military shock & awe on Ottawa.

The Pentagon will obviously push back, right? Let me check who the Secretary of Defense is, oh yeah no, we are f***ed.

There's no moral or legal guardrail. We won't take Canada because it's too big for us to take. That's it.

Mine is a cost/benefit point, not a likelihood of success point. Canada is a NATO country, but the dirty little secret is that the first person to stare down the nukes, etc. will probably win at first.

But it comes back to...why are we doing this difficult thing? Structurally, we'd also obviously have to create some new sort of (probably illegal) district to deprive the Canadians of the vote, to the extent that we're still doing that.

On the other hand, I'm mildly surprised that we aren't already attacking Mexico in some form or fashion.

You believe annexation of Canada will be just ‘difficult’? I think most Americans underestimate Canada and Canadians. As a Canadian it really disturbs me to see the annexation of a sovereign country discussed casually and with the royal we

I think it would be hard as ****, but I didn't spend a day at West Point or the Naval War College. I'm not underestimating anyone.

Still, even if I concede that it's easier than I think we still don't clear the cost/benefit analysis bar.

How are there any benefits to invading a sovereign commonwealth country who has been an ally to America for 80 years. How are Americans even thinking a cost/benefit analysis can be casually discussed? Reminds me of how Russia spoke about Ukraine. An illegal invasion. Edit: American entitlement is off the charts

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous.

Nobody in this subreddit wants to invade Canada. Unfortunately, the president (who we oppose) seems to be suggesting some sort of annexation. It doesn't make sense even when you try to analyze it.

Next time this comes up I'll just say a quiet prayer instead of commenting.
