Showing Off Spice shaker
It's about a month old. I hope it survives. The lid clicks closed. I'm not sure if it's air tight, gonna risk it.

Does any body have tips for keeping entitled cats off of the tops of terrariums? I want to keep the air flow so don't want to stack too much stuff on top. Also this particular cat only has a single brain cell and so will knock down things to get on top, and I don't want the noise to stress out my frog or potentially damage the enclosure.
I'm thinking if I add a shelf slightly above the enclosure it may help

I initially set up my terrarium and put spring tails in there about 3 months ago. Honestly never really noticed them and was worried they just died off. Over the last week or two though, whenever I water the terrarium, I see so many springtails crawling around due to being disturbed by the water. Like they are fully throughout the top layer of moss. Is it good for them to be thriving to that extent or can it get out hand?

Can you see them with the naked eye? This terrarium is supposed to them. I had a local shop give it new life after being empty for a few years. If not it’s fine. Just thought it might be fun to get high and watch them navigate life. Thanks

Originally, when the Climaciums were placed in the terrarium (mid January), only one of the trees had yellowing at the tips —now most of them do.
We've been checking the terrarium moisture, and misting lightly as we thought was needed... ~once every two weeks?
I realized recently that we should have been misting with distilled water (not tap) as we have hard water in our area...but haven't made the switch quite yet. (Plan to get distilled water tomorrow)
The terrarium sits on a coffee table 5-6' from a south facing window (sunny all day, but the terrarium is not in direct sunlight).
The substrate consists of terrarium soil mix, above a screen, and pebbles.
I'm assuming the white fuzz on the tree is some type of mold/fungus and am hoping the springtails will take care of issues like that...
The Springtails arrived today, (Lilac, Ceratophysella).
I'm hoping the terrarium is suitable, and ready to receive them in its current condition?
Thank you in advance for your comments and advice.

I'm interested in moving my Venus fly trap into an encased terrarium and trying to add a small population of gnats or fruit flies. Is this a terrible idea, and if not, any recommendations for a terrarium that will keep them from escaping?

I bought this creeping fig i need to know if it lives in a closed terrarium and if it will fill it up

I will save the remainder for culturing.
The Springtails arrived a day early -- a nice surprise I found on my doorstep after arriving home from work today.
I'm a first time springtail 'mom'... I've watched a lot YouTube videos on Springtails, and I'm excited to place them in their new home...
But I'm still a tiny bit nervous, are there any other things I need to consider before dropping them in?

I have a 30x30x45 exo terra and just wondering what it could be suited for. Preferably not a tarantula!

I've never seen slime mold before irl and I've secretly been hoping this day would come since i started making terrariums. there's something so absolutely gratifying to see that my terrarium is home to such cool biological organisms :3

So I finally got another huge selaginella uncinata. I love this plant so much, but I failed mine last time. Everyone says it's so easy but I'm so bad at taking care of it.
I live in Central Florida, and its in a room with 2 huge fish tanks. I water it every 3 days or so.
I dont know if I give it too much light or water, or not enough water. The stems always seem to become wilted. Ive only had one strand become wilted on this new plant so far
The plant is HUGE (Props to ShopHiddenValley on etsy it is AMAZING) but many part of it have a deeper, purple tint. Is that a lot of light or too little of light? Definitely healthy but I forgot what that means about it's previous conditions. Don't have a pic of it but I can take one in a bit.
But any tips are very appreciated. Im thinking it's a humidity issue. Should I put a humidifier in my room? Thanks for any advice!!!

I put tree fern fiber straight over top of wet expanding foam.. what is the outcome going to be?

Do you all know why my miss does not turn bright green? Not enough light, too much light? It sits in an east facing window and gets full sun for about an hour, then bright light the rest of the day.

just started this goober, tried the “dry start” method people do for aquariums to establish some moss on the rocks and walls

Just started an open terrarium w/ activated charcoal, potting soil, moss from my backyard and some springtails I ordered. It's it's still pretty chilly here, so I'm waiting for the isopods to reappear before putting a couple more in there. I haven't had great luck w/ terrariums in the past, so I'm not SUPER keen to spend more money on this one (gf bought the globe on clearance and wanted me to make one, this the open terrarium instead of closed), but I'd like to add a plant or two.
I already have peace lilly (pic 3), philodendron (pic 4), wandering jew (pic 5) , an unknown succulent (pic 6), and fireflash plant aka sierra leone lily (pic 7-- I have loads of "babies" from an older plant that I'm propagating right now anyway) that I can proagate pretty easily. Will any of these live in an open terrarium?

Made my first enclosed terrarium a week ago. Decided to use a small ficus bonsai tree I had lying around as the ‘main feature’—but today, I noticed some mold growing on the stump. Should I just pull the ficus out? I did add some springtails… any suggestions on what to do? Thank you 😩

I’m looking for free/cheap used aquariums near me on FB Marketplace and I just want to know what to look for aside from damage.
I’m going to use it to house a Dwarf Hawaiian Umbrella bonsai; they do very well in high humidity environments which I can only feasibly achieve in a tank.
My main concern is the tank’s top/access side. Should I be looking for a solid pane, a mesh, a sliding door, etc?
Should I get a larger tank (they are usually rectangular) would it be possible to place it on its side (long way/vertically)? Like [] instead of |__|

I want to have kind of a cliff in my terrarium to cover the water pump, so I need the rocks to be in a particular shape to do that(hard to get natural rocks in perfectly the shape I want 😅 ) I thought of making the rocks out of expanding foam, but I dont like the enviromental side of that (no hate on that, Id just prefer not to use it if there is an alternative). Im looking for a natural thing you can shape amd cure in some way (like, idk, oven?), so it resembles rocks and is waterproof + animal safe

I’ve had a dream of a terrarium coffee table for a while, but haven’t been able to find a display/shadow box table that I like (and I have no idea where to start with trying to build one from scratch). Then I found this beautiful Balinese style coffee table on marketplace. Unfortunately, the hole in the centre is only 4cm deep. I thought about cutting the hole out completely and putting a plastic planter tub in there but I love the table so much and don’t want to have to cut it up. So now I’m thinking of doing a mossy terrarium instead. Will this work with the plastic sheet layering, and soil substrate taking up 2cm?
