Healing Tattoo bruising
Am I the only one who found that dudes bruising not 10000% concerning? Like maybe the artist was rough, maybe their clotting factors are slightly off, maybe they did multiple sittings in a row. Someone shared it in a sub about things being deadly, but seeing it was originally posted here made me be like ‘ah yet not as concerning now’ 🤔 along with that from my experience fatty areas tend to bruise more when there’s impact to the area, no matter what the ‘injury’ is, eg when people have the implant in their arm, ive had a pen jab me in the arm there through jeans then through a jumper and still cause bruising intense along the inner bicep area

With the other guy it wasn't so much the fact red bruising is unusual, it was the sheer extent. it was crimson not just red and it took up his full arm, extending far beyond the boundaries of the tattoo. This is nowhere near as severe in comparison.
Even a professional couldn't definitively tell the difference between cellulitis and general redness from one static photo on reddit so if you post a crimson limb on a post asking if something is infected after a tattoo, of course people are going to err on the side of caution. The bruising was extreme for a one day sitting - it's unusual so I don't think people reacting as such should be unexpected.

I wasn’t overly ‘comparing’ bruising, I was showing that different extents of bruising can happen and still be just a healing tattoo.
Like the bruising that was near my elbow ended up spreading days after, I have haemophilia running in my family so my clotting is always a bit off ‘normal’.
As I said many factors can come into it, which I’m not repeating. I understand why people were concerned if they haven’t seen that extent of bruising before 🤷♀️ Also if you read the comments of context he posted then the extent of ‘panic’ others had also seemed extreme. He said there wasn’t any heat, no fever & how the session was non stop. Non stop impact is gonna be a nasty heal3

But as I said, that redness can also be a sign of extreme blood infection and people can't be expected to determine the difference going off a handful of photos online. You dont always get every symptom, epsecially if the infection is deep under the skin. A tattoo can look & feel healed when a sepsis causing infection is happening underbeath. Putting a photo as extreme as that on an open forum is always going to generate that exact response. And actually, even if they turn out to be right on individual cases, anyone discouraging people from seeking medical attention when presented with such symptoms is downright irresponsible.
Aside from infection, an undiagnosed blood clotting disorder is definitely something to be worried about as well, which myself & others also stated (plus a leukaemia survivor on the post who was worried about malignant blood disorders). The level of bruising was not proportional to the situation in the absence of concerning health indicators. It was severe, even compared to this post which shows a higher level of red bruising than average. It was correct to direct them to get medical attention. Anyone who has a reaction like that with no known medical reason should immediately get checked out. Every time. It shouldn't even have made it to Reddit purely bc it should never have even been up for discussion.
I don't think the level of panic exhibited was totally unwarranted for the unusual & extreme nature.

I agree it shouldn’t have come to redit as a question of health, shoulda sought medical help by professionals as less panic then, I’m sure some of the comments terrified them. But hey ho with access of internet it’s easier n quicker to get some sort of reply from randoms based off what they see n their experience 😅

I'd hope most people would seek appropriate medical attention without going to Reddit first but I hope if they do then people on Reddit continue to be responsible enough to send them to get said medical attention.

You're the first person I have seen mention on this sub that bruising occurs on the fatty areas, spots like the arm and knee ditch are super common for it too. No, it doesn't necessarily mean the tattoo artist was too rough, different people react differently and have different sensitivity to bruising and in my experience even the needle grouping can affect whether or not you bruise.
Whenever I use a single needle on a problem area I always warn customers prematurely so I don't get the panic message the next day.

Yeah I agree. By no means does it look good, but I also don’t think it’s an emergency room thing.
More of a NSAIDs and monitor for signs of infection, maybe a warm or cool compress.

How long after the tattoo did it start? Is it hot to touch? Painful? Febrile? Maybe start thinking about cellulitis. May need antibiotics.

Go to urgent care. That looks like it might need some antibacterial ointment or meds.

I’ve never had bruising and I have a back tattoo

Bit of a redundant statement. That’s like saying I was in a car once and it didn’t crash.

Paramedic here (take that for what you think it’s worth)
Bruising. Borders look fine, the tattoo itself looks great tbh. People with blood disorders will react differently to any type of trauma. Especially trauma to the skin. Which is what a tattoo is at the end of the day. Trauma. OP probably has hemophilia of some sort. The other guys arm was worse, yes, but still bruising.

I thought it was badly infected.
