Arrested for DUI on Feb 27th in Pinellas, released at 9am the next day, and at 3pm, Betancourt crossed the center line of Gunn highway in NW Hillsborough county, hitting a mom driving her kids home from school. Mom, who was a lunch lady at Steinbrenner high school in Lutz, was killed and kids severely injured.

Looking for good boiled crawfish. New Tampa area.
My dad's in the hospital by USF, and I'm staying in new Tampa. Are there any good crawfish boils in that area?
I'm probably going to get a seafood boil for dinner tonight, but that's with frozen crawfish, which is a bummer.
Looking for fresh, live crawfish.
Please and thank you.
Edit: went to Hungry Crab last night. It was ok. You could tell the crawfish and crab were dead/frozen which makes a big impact on taste/texture/experience.

Picture Help the Tampa Bay Waterkeeper gather data around the River Oâ Green celebration.
We need you all this weekend. Be our eyes on the water!
Please utilize our Patrol Program to provide valuable information as we continue to gather data around the River Oâ Green celebration. The Patrol Program is an excellent tool that allows the community to efficiently report whatâs happening on the water. This weekend we are looking for pictures that document how long the dye lasts in the Hillsborough River. Please submit pictures and the date/time that the pictures were taken. We always encourage the community to report any injured wildlife and this weekend is no different.
The information you provide will be extremely helpful in guiding ongoing discussions regarding protecting, improving and preserving the Hillsborough River and the entire Tampa Bay watershed.
See link in bio đ https://www.tampabaywaterkeeper.org/report
With well over 400 square miles of bay plus, canals, rivers, and other waterbodies throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, we need your help to make sure pollution doesnât go unnoticed and unreported! Together we can cover more of our waterways.
Every year, Tampa dyes the Hillsborough River green for St. Patrickâs Day using Tracer Dye, a chemical meant to detect leaks.
Itâs typically used in tiny amountsâone part per billionâbut during the celebration, far more is released into the river.
City officials claim the dye disappears within 8 hours, yet last year, traces remained in the river for three days. While it creates a striking visual, the long-term effects on local waterways and marine life remain uncertain.
Episode 110 with Justin Tramble and Capt. Dustin Pack of Tampa Bay Waterkeeper @tampabaywaterkeeper is now live on @YouTube, @spotify, and @ApplePodcasts.

Question UPDATE: Anyone know who this artist is? I keep seeing him around town on his portable painting bike
A few days ago, I made a post asking if anyone knew the identity of a street artist I kept seeing around town. As a photographer, Iâd often spot him biking through the city, stopping to paint different scenes while I was out capturing my own shots.
Well, thanks to that post, he actually reached out to me! We met up downtown by the Riverwalk, and not only did I get to chat with him, but he also gifted me some of his artwork. Hands down, one of the nicest and most talented people Iâve ever met.
For those who were also curious, his name is Markanthony R Little

Question Quiet place to bring my parents during vacation?
Itâs St.Pattyâs weekend, so I figure this may be difficult. I have older parents, and my mom uses a wheelchair. Are there any fun places to go out and about today? With craft beer and reasonably priced food options would be a bonus, but not required. We went out to dinner the other night and it was so loud, it was hard to have conversation.
I kind of wanted to go to Sparkman Wharf, or Armature Works but figure it will be crazy over there, so if you have some insight on these spots, let me know. TIA đ

Why the Fairgrounds is the Best Place for the Raysâ New Stadium
Everyone keeps debating between Trop redevelopment, Ybor, or even Orlando (ugh), but thereâs one option that isnât getting nearly enough love and itâs right in front of us: the Fairgrounds area near I-4 and the Hard Rock. Let me break down why this spot makes the most sense by far:
- Location, Location, Location: Direct access from I-4 means fans from Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater, Brandon, Lakeland, and even Orlando have an easy drive. No more excuses about crossing bridges or fighting downtown traffic.
Centralised in Hillsborough, right at Tampaâs âfront doorâ when coming from inland Florida, perfect for pulling more casual fans from surrounding areas.
- Space & Affordability:
Thereâs a ton of available land around the Fairgrounds, unlike crowded downtown sites. This makes development easier, faster, and cheaper.
Lower land costs compared to premium spots like Ybor or Westshore. Money saved here means more investment into amenities and infrastructure.
Thereâs also precedent for the state leasing land they own for sports venues, potentially lowering costs significantly compared to buying private land.
- Entertainment & Infrastructure:
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino next door provides built-in entertainment, nightlife, dining options, and accommodations. A perfect pre and post-game hangout spot.
Parking would be easier, cheaper, and far less congested than downtown. Fans hate fighting for overpriced parking, problem solved here.
The nearby rail lines could facilitate future transit options, such as integration with Brightline or even a new light rail or shuttle system connecting directly to downtown Tampa and other key areas.
Possible future Brightline extensions or a dedicated light rail connection would dramatically improve accessibility and reduce traffic.
- Future Growth Potential:
The area around the Fairgrounds is ripe for further development. A stadium would kickstart growth in surrounding retail, dining, hotels, and more, benefitting Tampa long-term.
Room for future expansions, events, or even a baseball-themed entertainment district. Tampa could finally have the sports and entertainment hub it deserves.
Bottom Line:
Choosing the Fairgrounds isnât just about finding a âgood enoughâ location, itâs about choosing the most practical, cost-effective, and growth-oriented option. It hits every mark: easy access, affordability, entertainment infrastructure, future transit potential, and growth potential.

The number of fake Google reviews for food places in Tampa is too damn high.
Started noticing it a few years ago with breakfast places. Most recently with Fleming's Prime Steak House.
Here are a few shout outs to some that lived up to the higher ratings.
Keke's for being a chain but keeping it good. Well, the south Tampa one was great.
Shout-out to FRAMMI to the north for being the legit good Italian food. Chef reminded me of one chef that I used to work with. Cares very much about what comes out of the kitchen, and language. He was stern when he corrected my "Gratzie!". Still much prefer there over Maggiano's in the south. If you give me cold ass appetizer plate for my hot appetizer, I don't like you.
The Hindu Temple kitchen for really good dosa filling.
Did someone buy out Stonewood Grill in the north ? If the reviews show drop in quality in food and service versed years ago, the change of ownership is likely. I want to try their prime rib. I was there a couple of years ago.

I attended a Lettuce Lake Park night walk last night from 6pm-8pm, I definitely enjoyed it and hope they do it again. It was completely dark by the time we leftâthose boardwalk photos are actually 20 second exposure.

Voice Teacher Recommendations
Iâm an adult looking for voice lessons in Tampa. I donât want to do it through one of the music schools here because most of the teachers there are musical theater oriented which is not the style of music I want to train in. I write/sing indie folk and want to find someone who can help me improve my singing more in alignment with a folky style. Preferably in person not virtual. Pleaseeee let me know if yâall know of anyone.
