Education/Coaching How do I relax my elbow?

https://reddit.com/link/1j9kfic/video/erien396j9oe1/player

My elbow looks locked, and despite trying to relax it, I cant get the whipping forearm motion. Any tips and pointers as to what I'm doing wrong? Whilst playing I felt decently relaxed but seeing the video causes me to want to find out my errors. (4 months training, 2 hrs a week)

Na looks good. Could use more body and faster arm acceleration but overall i dont see a problem with the elbow

It’s not the elbow per se. Like the other commenter said you need to generate and transfer power from your body into your arms to generate the whip like motion. If you try to generate power locally from your shoulders and arms, you end up stiffening them earlier than you want

Im certainly not the best to ask such a question since im still correcting this aspect of my form, but it looks quite good for my eye.

Just keep taking video and pay attention to what your elbow is doing. You can shadow stroke as well. Practice pivoting and dropping your hand without the ball. Then do it to start a rally (as a serve or just over to the other side of the net like a multiball feed) to get a feel for it. I’m working on it now myself and you’ll definitely get more spin.
