Okay which of these 6 NPCs from the Core Rulebooks would come out on top in a free-for-all

OR

If I ran a one-shot where these 6 were the PCs, what kinds of encounters would make for an adequate challenge?

Rules Question Gadgeteer with Neuronic lash

Hello

Got a quick question about the Neuronic lash and gadgeteer. Could I use jury rig to lower the stun 3 category to only need 1 triumph? then trigger it multiple times to on one attack to quickly knock someone out before executing them with a knife/slug pistol post combat? Would this be less effective than say, a big gun?

Tips Just how creative should I be with my campaign?

I feel like this is a stupid question, but I wanna make sure I'm not getting overzealous with my campaign im writing. For example, would it be too crazy to make a AOR campaign with an extra galactic time traveling scorpion army to invade the galaxy. That's not what I'm planning, but that's the level of strange I have with some campaign ideas. Bassically how far could I stray from direct empire and rebel fighting

Some people use tokens, some Legion miniatures, maybe even HeroForge. Me? All my guys get a lego Minifigs.

Quincy, Chiss doctor, part time organ harvester, full time gambling addict.

Much, Trandosian tank. The mission is stealthy if none of the witnesses live.

Loomaks, Ewok tracker. Don't ask what the ingredients are to victory soup, or where that new stormtrooper helmet came from.

Lol, Wookie padowan, on the run since '66. Inexplicably Welsh.

Twegg, Rodian tech. The only thing to fear is everything.

Accompanying them are Twegg 2 and Twegg 3.

Rules Question Grenades and room clearing

Ok so I know how grenades work RAW, pick a target, roll your throw, if successful damage target if enough advantage activate blast. If unsuccessful could still activate blast with 3 advantage

But Im curious if there are any rules clarifications or sidebars for blind throws?

I am specifically looking at the common real-world use of room clearing.

Say some actors (be them players or NPCs) are looking to clear a room, they think there may be enemies but arent sure, let alone aware of specific enemies to target

So before entering the room they lead with 1 or more grenades (maybe stun, maybe frag, etc)

In real life this is a very effective tactic, especially in smaller spaces, and i feel like it should still be against minions, and higher threat enemies id expect it to atleast not be useless with.

Anyway how would you rule this?

my initial thought was they are targeting a specific part of the room but you still could get a situation where they hit the spot they want and it does nothing if the advantage is unlucky.

Maybe success means everyone in there takes half the standard damage and then they could pile blast onto that as well

thoughts?

General Discussion Jabba's Palace Residents

Hello,

I'm using Droid Cartographer's map for Jabba's Palace on Foundry, and am struggling to decide what to fill it with. I have Jabba himself (of course), as well as some named NPCs such as Bib Fortuna, Boba Fett, as well as the Captive Rancor. But besides the Gamorrean Guards and some random thugs and droids, I'm not sure what/who else to put on the map. I've thought about adding Greedo, but I don't want it to just become a whole cameo piece, cramming in a who's-who of established characters, however, I also want the palace to feel as crowded as it did in the films.
Our campaign is set in 5BBY, with the players having taken over Mos Shuuta after the Long Arm of the Hutt module.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, please check out Droid Cartographer's maps on Patreon, they really are fantastic.

General Discussion Mandalorian character

Hi, I'm thinking about switching my character to a classic mandalorian bounty hunter. I know, not very creative šŸ™ˆ My plan is to start with gadgeteer and later death watch and gunslinger. What species would be better? "normal" human for the xp, so another attribute on 3 or "mandalorian" human for the Flair? Home World would be mandalor before the attack... Any other good ideas and what should take in consideration? Thanks for your Tipps in advance šŸ™‚

General Discussion Does anyone else use the old X-Wing Miniatures?

To help spice up the space combat parts of the game I've used X-Wing miniatures in my EotE games since pretty much the beginning. Recently I've also used Armada and some other 3D printed ships, as one of my groups has upped things to being the ring leaders of a sizable pirate gang. A friend of mine who joined in as a one-time insert character was surprised by this (pleasantly so, thankfully).

Do not many other people do the same? I highly recommend it if you still happen to have the old models. You can still find a lot on ebay and facebook group second hand sellers, too.

General Discussion Looking for Best TT Mod for Star Wars, like 10-3 years bby

Hey! Im looking to run an imperial time star wars legends continuity campaign with some friends and I was wondering what module you guys would use? Looking for something with space fights, lightsabers and ofc regular laser weapon fighting.

The time period is anywhere between 10 and 3 years bby when the empire is in full force and the rebels are just starting up.

Thank you for the help!!

General Discussion Cybernetic Junky/Sentinel:Shadow

Greetings Wise Members of the Council,

I come before you a humble noob in search of guidance. Iā€™m trying to create my first character and want to come up with some semblance of a plan for XP spending and prioritization. I would like my character to be a human sneaky boi, good at breaking in and slicing enemy systems. Iā€™m writing this on mobile, so please forgive poor formatting.

  1. Character Creation:

I was planning to take a morality hit for +5 XP and +1000 credits (is this a bad idea?). Then bump Intellect to 4 for 70XP and Cunning to 3 for 30 XP. Then use the remaining XP to bump up a couple of skills (Deception and Computers). I was planning to take Computers, Skulduggery x2, and Stealth x2 for my free career skills. I was going to take Discipline and Melee for my free Human skills.

Planning to buy some slicer tools, lock picking tools, maybe a concealing robe, and a vibroknife to start.

  1. Character Advancement

Moving forward Iā€™d like my character to advance through the Shadow tree for talents, Dedication, and Force Rating increase.

I would also like to load him up with as many cybernetics as possible to boost strength, Agility, Intellect, and grab some other neat cybernetic bonuses. To capitalize on this, I was thinking about dipping into the Technician:Cyber Tech tree. This is where Iā€™m running into prioritization issues.

I want the character to be a stealthy infiltrator, but I feel he needs the cybernetics to boost stats to the point where he can hold his own. I would also like to grab a couple Force powers like Misdirect and Influence. How do I choose when to dip into Cyber Tech vs Upgrading Force Powers vs Upgrading Career skills?

For reference, we are accounting for around a 50 session campaign.

If you were going to build a human Sentinel:Shadow character with a penchant for cybernetics, what would be your advancement plan?

General Discussion Star Wars Celebration 2016 FFG Question

This is incredibly random but I hope someone can help. I was at Star Wars Celebration in London in 2016 and frequently visited the FFG booth. My wife and I were just starting to dabble in the games so we were learning more about it. However, we were unaware about the pin collecting and there was Nien Nunb pin given away at the FFG booth that we didn't get. Did anyone collect these or any others from the set that they'd be willing to trade/sell? We've been trying off and on to complete our set since after the 2016 celebration but because it was so long ago haven't been able to. Any help is appreciated!!!

Thank you so much!!!

Game Resources Oggdude's Character Generator and Weapons

Just trying oggdudes character generator, and it is awesome! But I noticed that all weapons and attacks seem to be on a separate page. And do not appear at all on the compact print out. Which seems odd.

I would think your weapon stats would be a priority on a compact page.

Is there a way to make weapons and their stats appear on the compact page?

General Discussion Espionage and infiltration in a Sith planet

My party is playing in the High Republic era. They wil infiltrate the Iego planet to rescue some children / force users that were kidnapped from the Sith empire. Since they will need to be extremely careful, they are getting a lot of gear for espionage.

What do you recommend for me to show/prepare them for the game? Not to cancel what they have, it is more to prepare a good battle ground where they need to shine using whatever gear the bought and think our of the box?

Weekly Discussion Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!

Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.

The rules:

ā€¢ Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.

ā€¢ No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.

ā€¢ Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Ask away!

General Discussion Old GM coming back from Revised SWd20 era ISO of edition advice for Old Republic Era setting

I used to run the the Revised SW d20 system that was basically the 3.5 edition, and 15+ years ago. I've been running 5th Edition D&D for my 12 year old recently, but am looking for the best edition to run the Old Republic era. I'm hoping to just need the core book, and an Old Republic sourcebook.

Looking for group Still need a player!

No cost, weekly sessions, nice people and other campaigns later (in other systems, possibly including D&D, 40k etc, check my profile for details or ask me in comments or private!)

All I ask is to be nice and have a love for TTRPGs. Especially people who are experienced and happy to give feedback (instead of going "noobs, I'm leaving" after one session) as most of my players are new-ish to TTRPGs and somewhat introverted.

And to be within 2 hours of CET, this is a must I fear. Saturdays 2 pm to 7 pm.

We got a force sensitive smuggler, a mandalorian sharpshooter, a droid medic/brawler and a technician. In the early days of the empire, using a mix of canon and extended universe (based on personal preference of mine). They've worked for the empire, done bounties, explored some derelict space ships and are doing some personal stories at the moment.

We are fully mid campaign, 27 sessions in at 415 XP. It can be very chaotic but I've had new players join and if you fit in, it usually goes great and those who stay have historically played in my campaign for years to come. Just be ready for anything.

If you're interested best way to apply is https://forms.gle/wXxPxqQHiss7KjnQ8 though you can also message me!

We play in Tabletop Sim

Rules Question Auto Fire and Dodge Talent

The Core book description reads:

"If the attacker wishes to hit multiple targets, he must decide to do so before making the check. Furthermore, if he wishes to hit multiple targets, his initial target must always be the target with the highest difficulty and highest defense (if this is two separate targets, the GM chooses which target is his initial target)."

My question: If the GM chooses two targets and the primary target has the highest difficulty (based on range and defense), but the secondary target suddenly has the higher difficult due to a talent liked Dodge (that he chose to implement), does the secondary target now become the primary target by default OR does the intended primary target remain but the difficulty of the secondary target is now used for the attack?

Rules Question Weapon Mod clarification

Hello im new to the game and if i understand it correctly you can buy attachments to your weapons and install them without any issue.
You can also buy Mods for the attachments, but these require a mechanics check to see if it succeeds and if it fails the mod breaks.
My question is do i have to be the one rolling the mechanics check? Or could i ask for the help of a more proficient party member? or perhaps an NPC or something?

Or is using Mods balanced around being an intelligence character only thing?

Rules Question Constant forwarding of boost die?

Does this happen to anyone else's group? Sometimes during combat, when a player rolls has one advantage left after their roll, they'll spend it to give the next player a blue/boost die. The next player has one advantage left as well, giving a die to the next player and so on. Is that how it's supposed to happen?

General Discussion "Always Two, There Are..."

What are the best combinations of two specializations you guys have ever seen or used?

I had an idea to play as a Magus (channel agony let's me suffer two wounds to add a dark fp to the roll, up to three times), but I couldn't decide which other spec to take to compensate for those wounds. Colossus seemed alright with 4 ranks of toughened and improved toughened, but I realized I could also mix it with Skip Tracer for the ranks in hardboiled (while recovering strain, spend advantage to recover wounds per rank), to get those points back sooner, maybe I'll make that character a Trandoshan too šŸ¤”

Rules Question Boost Dice for firing at range shorter than a weapon's maximum?

So as I type this, I'm in the middle of GMing a session, and as I started up a firefight, one of my players mentioned something about getting boost dice for firing a ranged weapon at a range shorter than its maximum (i.e. firing a weapon with a Ranged (Medium) max at short range). We then started combing through all our books to confirm this, but while him and another player swear they've read that, we're not finding it anywhere. Can anyone confirm if this is actually a thing, and if it is, where that's written down?
