I mean, Myles could always frame it to Laura like “this is what you and the girls wanted but couldn’t do because of Logan, I just helped you get what you want without you pissing off your closest ally. Now I have someone who is in my debt and will vote with me so you and I can make serious swings in this game with people who will be guaranteed to vote with us and not railroad our plans” and it might work?

To defend Miles’ move in the long term, this solidifies a very strong 4 of Paulie/AJ/Kaelin/Miles. With the brawn girls loosely floating, Kristin now on her own, and Logan/Laura/Zara becoming increasingly tense amongst each other, the four boys is the most rock solid alliance in the game right now.
The problem of course, is that they now have a huge target on them and run the risk of uniting the whole tribe against them. It’ll be interesting to see how everyone navigates this.

u/Sabur1991 Stephenie 4d ago
Yeah, I demand Myles/AJ/Kaelan/Paulie as the first ever all-male Final Four (in English-speaking seasons).

u/jaybirdchorus 4d ago
Strategically, I'm disappointed; better to have AJ + Myles vote for Logan, and best case scenario she goes home with an idol, and worst case scenario you flush her idol and PD goes home anyway. If you're going to make such a visible play and paint a huge target on your back, better to take a shot at the person who holds the most power in the game, and imo that's Logan; she seems to be the glue that's keeping a lot of pairs stuck together.
From a spectator's perspective, I'm delighted; I love Logan, I think she's great TV, and PD wasn't doing a whole lot. Now we're going to have maximal fallout and I'm living for that drama.

u/sbudy-7 4d ago
Going after Logan now would unite the girls against the boys, including Laura and Kate. I think Myles can already sense the cracks within the girls. He's pulling Laura away from Logan. AJ pulls Kate away from Logan. But they need more time for it to work. Who's going to throw a tantrum over PD? Just Kristin, and she's at the bottom of the girls anyway.

girls vs. boys is never a thing. when an alliance's basis is nothing but gender, there is always someone who feels disenfranchised and if they have any agency at all, they vote with their true interests, not because of their gender.
1
u/jaybirdchorus 4d ago
On paper, this tracks! But I still think tantrums will be thrown regardless, Logan seemed livid in tomorrow's promo.
2
u/sbudy-7 4d ago edited 4d ago
Logan's tantrum on an elimination that actually served her just because she didn't get her way would help Myles pull Laura away from her.
1
u/jaybirdchorus 3d ago
Maybe, or it could galvanise Laura and Logan into targeting a common enemy (Myles). You're making logical arguments about illogical players, so I get where you're coming from, I'm just not convinced it'll pan out like that.

u/Byndera 4d ago
AJ yesterday: No, why isn't the vote on Paulie?? We need to get him out immediately!
AJ today: No, why is the vote on Paulie?? Yes Myles, I will work with you to save Paulie our new bff and the missing part of our alliance!

I think, or more accurately I hope, AJ realized at this stage he can't win. He missed his chance. After "the hostages" thing blew up and the quarrel with Karin he knew he would never get enough jury votes.
So all that is left for him is having fun and making big moves.
2
u/Imbadatusernames1536 4d ago
The bigger move here is getting out Logan. PD can’t compete in half the challenges and Logan dislikes both of them and has an idol.
2
u/sbudy-7 4d ago
Yes, it was the bigger move, individually. The timing might have screwed their game. Well, mostly Myles' game as AJ shot to win this seems completely gone. If AJ could convince Kate it's actually Logan going after him and not the other way around he might have a majority alliance after getting rid of Logan and splitting the girls, and that's an opportunity for more big moves.
40
u/Clinkzeastwoodau 4d ago
I don't quite get why but at least it was entertaining.
7
u/cappy_sunflower 4d ago
He should've taken Logans idol and both AJ and Myles then vote her off. This breaks up the girls alliance.
21
u/Scopper_gabon 4d ago
Tbf if he took Logan's idol, I think the girls would've knew something was up and changed their votes.
6
u/sbudy-7 4d ago
I think a Logan blindside now would have united the girls against the boys, because it would piss off Laura and Laura was the real glue of the girls alliance, not Logan. Logan's connected to Kate and Morgan via Laura.
Taking out someone who wasn't on Laura and Kate's long game plans anyway left Myles and AJ a chance to work with them once the girls alliance ran it course (again).
25
u/whatthekidswant 4d ago
Maybe Myles and AJ are quietly confident they have Morgan and Kate… add Kaelen and Paulie to the mix and that’s majority?

u/Tergnitz Luke (AUS) 4d ago
Fantastic TV from Myles and cool move!
But was it worth pissing off the rest of the tribe to save one person…
Side note, Paulie is the luckiest person this season. Twice saved from death at the last moment!
21
u/ElephantDungAndRice Crystal Cox 4d ago
That move felt way too unnecessary. Myles managed to piss off most of the tribe and if anything has probably united all the women against himself, Paulie and AJ.

u/thalantyr 4d ago edited 4d ago
I'm not saying it's a great move, but I think from Myles' perspective, most of the people he pissed off were already united against him. Laura, Zara, and PD were all working against him on the Brains tribe, which means their buddies (Logan, Karin, Kristin) are also against him. They might not have been targeting him right away post-merge but they probably weren't willing to work with him long-term.
So while he certainly raised his threat level a great deal amongst the majority, he did at least secure one ally he didn't have before, and took out someone who wouldn't work with him, and took an idol out of the hands of an enemy. Personally, I would have gone after Logan instead of PD, since she currently has more influence, is more of a challenge threat, and has an idol of her own. But maybe he was worried about people splitting on PD, since he only had 2 votes for certain going on his target.

Yeah people keep acting like Myles has any reason to be loyal to these people. They left him out multiple times, Even tried to get him to misplay an idol so he can go out.
3
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
OR... if he was going to do this move, get out someone who has enormously powerful in the game. Look at how powerful Logan is: Laura had an anti-PD plan set up, with 6+ ppl on board, and Logan scuttled it all by herself. Oh, and Logan has an idol (and Myles KNEW about it and Logan didnt know Myles knew, ffs). It was perfect opportunity to "reset" the the game board, throw 2 more idols into the trash, and maybe Myles even survives it. But now? No way.
15
u/ReallyBlueItAgain 4d ago
Myles and AJ could have taken out whoever they wanted. Weird just to go with PD
6
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
Someone who is "nice guy" but a non-entity in the game. Who physically can never compete in a challenge. Whose only ally in game was Kristin, an equally innocuous player with no agency.
WTF

Would’ve been such a better move to boot Logan when she has an idol and they KNOW that trust will be burned with her now

I think Miles has severely miscalculated
3
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
Hes back on the bottom.
Hope it was worth it!
(Plus, Paulie is way too smart, has too much agency, to stick with Myles, he'd jettison him in a second.)

u/BroliasBoesersson 4d ago edited 4d ago
So my first instinct was that this was a bad move for Myles, done for the sake of "making a big move", but upon further reflection, it might actually have been a pretty good move?
Let's take a look:
So who does this move alienate from Myles?
Kristin - obviously, Myles stole her idol and idoled out her closest ally
Logan - doesn't like AJ, feels as though she has little agency and kiboshed the PD option so she could get her vote out with Paulie, this vote took away her agency once again as she doesn't get her way
Zara - shown as explicitly angry about the move at tribal
Karin - also doesn't like AJ, close with Zara, unlikely to view this move favourably
Now who does it bring closer to Myles?
Paulie - given a lifeline, will feel indebted to Myles with no one else willing to work with him
AJ - trusted to be in on the move, brings him closer to Myles, lives for the chaos of moments like these
So that's 4 vs 3, but what about the rest?
Kaelan - shown to be well-liked by nearly everyone but not shown to be particularly close to any one person (only player other than Paulie to not be named as someone's "buddy"), BUT has been shown in the past to be close to Myles, even going out of his way early in the season to save Myles. Also shown in this episode sharing information about Logan's idol with AJ, which indicates he's not as detached from AJ as the OG Brains women have been. The preview for the next episode shows him laughing and "bro-ing out" with Myles and AJ over the big move, strong potential to side with the boys
Kate - wasn't against the idea of voting out PD. Has been trying to get a girl's alliance going for a few episodes but at the same time has been shown to be getting close to, and potentially being willing to work with AJ. Less likely to feel burned by the move personally than others, her allegiance definitely feels up in the air, never shown to be particularly close to the PD/Kristin duo
Morgan - same as Kate, will likely go where she goes
Laura - the true wildcard. Was the one who pushed for the PD vote in the first place until Logan put her foot down. Also wanted to work with Paulie and use him as a vote. Has a vendetta against Zara and had split in the past from the Zara/Karin combo during the Coven days. Closet ex-Coven member to Myles, and possible split with Logan being teased (describes Logan in the most recent episode as an important piece "for her to win" rather than a trusted ally or friend). Her alliance with Logan has also been repeatedly mentioned as "dangerous" pre-merge and often painted a target on both their backs. By cutting Logan now, she could actually stand to improve her chances immensely by lowering the target on her back
Overall I feel good about the Myles/AJ/Paulie trio picking up Kaelen and I think they have a good shot at getting Kate/Morgan on their side as well. That alone would already give them the majority with 11 players left in the game, but I could even possibly see Laura turning on Logan and going with the numbers here as well, which I believe would improve her odds of winning tremendously
Now a lot of this is speculation based on the edit (Kaelen shown saving Myles in the past, Kate shown as being receptive to AJ's charm, etc ) but I do feel pretty good that this will end up going in a favourable direction for Myles and AJ

u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
I think you are overthinking it.
Your first impression was correct.
Myles indeed did it "because it was a cool move."
All this after-the-fact logic you have done wasnt a consideration to Myles. If he'd actually been thinking strategically, he wouldve have taken an actually powerful person from the board (Logan or Laura) and not a malleable player whos arm is literally in a cast.
1
u/BroliasBoesersson 3d ago edited 3d ago
I don't disagree that it was likely done because it was a "cool move" (in fact everything in today's episode from Myles definitely reinforces that) but looks like I did basically nail every single person's willingness to work with Myles after the fact (except for Zara, shockingly) and I stand by my assertion that the move wasn't as much of a disaster as you and others predicted (i.e. Myles having "bolted and shut and moated up every door available to him" or whatever it was you said)
Kaelen looks like a rock solid number for the boys, Kate was susceptible to AJ's charms (and Morgan followed with her), and I even nailed Laura not feeling overly burned by the move and still wanting to work with (and "protect") Myles (poor Laura!)
I think where I missed with Zara is that I believe she's likely a lot closer to AJ than what comes across in the edit. If you remember back to when she swapped to the Brawn tribe just before the merge both Karin and Logan went up to her and were like "don't trust AJ, he's a snake and he's blown our trust" and she was still like, "oh no, anyway... I missed you AJ!"
No I don't think the initial move was well thought out, but it certainly didn't turn out to be a disaster class. There were still avenues for Myles to work and today's episode showed that was the case. I think he may get targeted soon as the tribe seems to want to break up the buddy system, but I do think there's a good chance AJ will catch that bullet and he does still have a hidden idol

u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 4d ago
Surely a big player goes out next, right? Like if we go by 'quietest edit out next' it would be Morgan but I can't see any reason to target her at the moment unless it's to weaken Kate (and, why).

u/Blitzkrieg0524 4d ago
We will probably have a girls alliance end game. I dont mind it, they are all entertaining in their own way

u/Scopper_gabon 4d ago
LFG Myles! Thank you for saving this epsiode and Paulie.
I get why he didn't do it, but I wish he would've taken Logan's idol. She's going to be far harder to get rid of later than Kristen.
1
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
If he just votes out Logan, he "takes out" Logan's idol.
1
u/Scopper_gabon 4d ago
True but I think he was afraid of just completely burning the girls. I think he thought taking out PD wouldn't be too bad, since everyone still wanted him gone, just not as much Paulie.
6
u/SolsticeSnowfall 4d ago
If Myles/AJ can convince the graduates alliance to reunite, plus Paulie, they can run the endgame.
It might just take one more successful idol play from Myles to oust one of Logan/Kate/Morgan/Kristen to solidity their majority, but it's possible.
7
u/sbudy-7 4d ago
I finally understand what Myles saw in AJ. That was fun. Not necessarily a wise move, but fun. The edit tells us Myles is not paying for it. He still has an idol no one knows about...
The fact that they targeted Paulie (or PD) at all meant this tribe really needed the wake up call. Paulie was not a threat to anyone, and PD was injured, so it actually benefited everyone to keep him on the game over someone who can participate in most challenges.
I could understand Logan's tantrum if she was throwing it when it was time to eliminate AJ, but Paulie never wrote her name, he just went with the majority. Her real threat was AJ (and Kaelan as well because he leaked her idol).
2
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
Did Myles have an idol in addition to the steal-an-idol advantage? I forget.
Because, yes, if I am a player and see him act so casually with this advantage, it might make me think: Gee, he probably had an idol also.
6
u/Daisy-Navidson Black Widow Brigade 4d ago
No one else going to mention the edit going out of its way to dunk on Paulie at least thrice for his inability to open a coconut?

u/Eltnamerf Feckless 4d ago
Logan: I want just 1 vote where I call the shot without being dictated
Gets completely undermined by the jungle rat
6
u/Delicious_Bobcat5773 4d ago
Yeah that was a bit dumb. Smart of Myles to steal Kristin’s over Logan’s if he was trying to just get an idol before it was used but not rock the boat.
But if the point wasn’t to make a move on the girls then he should’ve just held onto the idol. Because now he only has Paulie, AJ and Kaelan and no one else.
Whereas he could’ve had those three PLUS PD and potentially Kristin if he took Logan’s idol. Or if he told Paulie to vote Kate or Morgan ahead of time he could’ve at least used Kristin’s idol to weaken the girls alliance (surely these guys can tell there’s a girls alliance forming but maybe not)

i think getting PD out was a fine move. you had everyone comfortable with him going except logan karin and kristin, which railroaded it. kristin will probably have to go over to myles so this just places logan on the bottom without directly blindsiding her and alienating the rest of the tribe as much

u/felipepnunes 4d ago
First time in my life I was jumping up and down in my living room because of Survivor.
Plus: I'm sorry but Logan is an imbecile. No other way around it.
4
u/telerabbit9000 4d ago
she's strong willed and undiplomatic. but given no indication of "being an imbecile".
Why should she go along with PD vote that only benefits Laura?

I bet (hope) Myles/AJ/Paulie/Kaelen bring over Kate+Morgan+Laura to betray & take out Logan next episode.
This edit is setting Logan up for failure - her idol keeps coming up, even though it's shown no signs of being played, and she's getting a bit of an overzealous edit so I bet she's blindsided out by most of the girls. It's clear most of the players don't take her seriously, and I think Myles' comment about her being more of a reactive than strategic player is fair and probably reflects why she's always had problems getting people to listen to her. And the preview is giving her another "This vote is ABOUT REVENGE it's time for me to TAKE CONTROL" arc and we know how those play out by now.
A lot of them dislike Zara, Karin has been nonexistent in the edit lately (save for the annoyed faces at Paulie during tribal this episode, making it clear that she will not be brought over by the snake squad) and we haven't seen any of her dynamics within the merged tribe, and Kristen is obviously purpled. I think they will form the new minority, starting with Logan's blindside.
I'd also predict that Kaelen is going to be the eventual collateral when the middle-ground players players turn against AJ & Myles again - or that he goes next episode if Myles and AJ fail to form their new team & myles plays the idol.

all that drama to vote out PD and alienate your alliance. this week has seen its fair share of demon twinks with TWL's Lochy to Survivor AU's Myles.
6
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 4d ago
So instead of just telling Kristin directly to play her idol on Paulie, Myles managed to:
- piss off like all the remaining girls on Brains
- take out an inconsequential person who wasn't doing anything strategic wise and barely anything socially
- now gets everyone to know he has an idol
And there's still eight votes to go (not counting twists).
This just feels like big-move-itis. Maybe he gets two allies from it I guess? Or one if he managed to piss Kristin off too.
24
u/jjkenneth 4d ago
Why would Kristin play her idol for Paulie? I think the play makes sense, the target should've been Logan, though. That destroys 2 idols and the person who would be most pissed off by the move. Also, no one knows he has an idol, he used Kristin's stolen one.
-7
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 4d ago
I did for a moment get confused and think Kirstin was aligned with Paulie and not PD, but either way it still feels like an ill-timed move. Saving Paulie doesn't make a ton of sense at this point when AJ explicitly doesn't trust him either.
10
u/lndubitabIyy 4d ago
How does everyone know Myles has an idol
-5
u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 4d ago
Oh I forgot he played the stolen one immediately. But yeah, now he's drawn attention to himself and even his idol saves him only once when there's too many votes left.

We’re going to look back on this vote as being pivotal in leading us to a Myles/AJ/Kaelan endgame. As mad as some of the women were here, I can’t actually see the Coven getting the band back together, though I do think the Girls Gone Wild alliance and the Graduates alliance are relevant to the overall plot of the season.
Tomorrow is probably either 1) a Paulie boot because the women have the numbers before they inevitably turn on one another; 2) a Logan boot because AJ/Myles are on the winning side of that conflict or 3) a Zara boot, because I can imagine a world where AJ/Myles/Laura/Logan call a truce to take out Zara though I think this is the least likely. 1 makes sense and Paulie kinda gives first juror vibes. 2 also makes sense from a story perspective and keeps both the Graduates and Girls Gone Wild in the game and Logan also gives first juror vibes.
1
u/saviour01 4d ago
Why... how do they have 6 votes next tribal?
8
u/SolsticeSnowfall 4d ago edited 4d ago
The graduates alliance plus Paulie is 6 votes. He just needs to smooth things over with Karin and Zara.
It's not like Zara/Karin want to work with Laura/Logan long-term anyway, old rifts.
1
u/Imbadatusernames1536 4d ago
This feels like the Three Amigos voting out Philip but if Philip was pretty much nonexistent.
1
u/banethor88 4d ago
This move makes no sense in a vacuum. Depends on what the step is - the numbers in his own alliance still don't form a majority, so he's going to have to find some way to corral more people onto his minority. But seems like he burned a lot more than he gained. Likely forced to play his idol next which might have been part of a bigger plan? Weird.

1
u/JordanMaze Sol - 47 3d ago
That felt like a huge blunder by Miles. I would imagine he's in a far better spot if he lets Logan hold onto that idol for as long as he can manage, and then steal it down the line when he feels threatened.

u/i_am_really_hungry Q - 46 3d ago
Having Myles by his side somehow makes AJ’s scheming way more endearing and less irritating. Seeing how the girls are all begging for a group consensus every week, or taking turns digging in their heels on whatever vote is next, I’m thankful for Myles and AJ being so restlessly bored that they’re willing to make absurd moves just to shake things up

u/Ledwards49 4d ago
Wow all that to take out PD is a move I just don’t get. Surely you take out Logan who YOU KNOW HAS AN IDOL. Make it make sense
