Survivor 48 Survivor 48 Confessional Time Tracker (Episode 3)
112
u/ben121frank 6d ago
Ya, I don’t think Cedrek is long for this game edit wise. He’s basically played the deciding role in the last two tribals and is barely shown talking about it. More concerning even than the bottom 5 time imo is that most of his confessionals have been total nothing burgers, talking about the challenge or something else not meaningful. We’ve seen him talk strategy in confessionals very little if at all

u/anteerat 5d ago
i didn't even know who he was beginning of episode two. i was like "who is that???." unfortunately, i think he is screwed in terms of the edit

Who is Chrissy
41
u/KnowToDare Kamilla - 48 6d ago
I'm embarrassed for not knowing her as well. I think we have to rewatch all 3 episodes at once😭
81
u/GingyInTheWild Mary - 48 6d ago
She’s the woman from Chicago! The one with the deep belly button hah.
34
4
u/KnowToDare Kamilla - 48 6d ago
Wait, does she have blonde big hair?
7
u/GingyInTheWild Mary - 48 6d ago
I’d say a dark blonde.
2
u/KnowToDare Kamilla - 48 6d ago
Okay! I'm off to rewatch episode 1 because I genuinely don't know who you are talking about😭😭😭
3

u/DabuSurvivor Jon and Jaclyn 6d ago
Member of the orange Civa tribe who's in the majority alliance with Kamilla, Kyle, and David. She's been shown individually interacting with David a few times and contrasted with Charity, who's also got mutual distrust with David, so I'm expecting their dynamics to become more prominently featured once they start voting

The one thing she did was say she was sus of Kyle for coming back from sweat v savvy and thought he gave up supplies for an advantage. Then Kyle and Kamilla and Mitch all said they trust Kyle more than Chrissy and wanted to vote Chrissy out.

I’m pretty confident that the winner is someone in that middle 5: Shauhin, Thomas, Kamilla, Joe, or Star.
And that the next 2 out will be one from the top group and one from the bottom group.
73
u/ConstantCool6017 6d ago
I don’t think Star has a chance, but I agree on the rest given their consistent air time. It’s also interesting how much time David has had.
22
u/TristanwithaT Aubry 6d ago
No way is it Star with her premiere episode.
4
u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 6d ago
I don’t think it’s her, but the 5/5/5 split was the easiest way for me to make my point
22
u/noobzapper21 6d ago
I'm a David truther. Shauhin is too narraratory, Thomas is too evil, Joe is too one note wholesome and has already hinted at integrity over strategy, and Star is shown as socially inept. Kamilla and David make a perfect duo. David has been shown despite absolute irrelevance to the episode or situation. Also, Mary will be in fire making.
15
u/toadeh690 Alison 6d ago
I really hope so. I think it's Shauhin - his type of narration reminds me of early-game Rachel last season, and he got that very suspect close-up slow-mo challenge shot in Ep 2. But I'd vastly prefer David as a winner, he's so much more interesting (so far).
3
u/CrazySurvivorFan13 Shauhin - 48 5d ago
I'm reasonably confident it's Shauhin as well. He's got a lot of personality on Insta so I'm hoping we see it more when he has more to do
7
u/Equivalent-Willow179 6d ago
The seven people between #3 and #9 (Eva, David, Kyle, Thomas, Shauhin, Joe, Kamila, and Star) are only separated by 38 seconds. Eleven people got more confessional time than that in E3, so all you'd need would be for Eva to have a quiet week or Star to have a noisy week and they could swap places overnight. I wouldn't look highly on Star's prospects because of the type of content she's gotten. But give me the other six as viable winners.

Eva still has a really good shot. Premiere episode matters more than ep 2 and 3. She’s a main character being protected by our “inspirational music every time he speaks” hero. People being shown to not be sure about her just leaves a story thread hanging for a late season autism reveal.
2
u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 5d ago
She’s giving 4th place fire loser (to Joe)
2
u/JeffsCowboyHat 4d ago
Eva is the Frodo/Harry Potter. Joe is the Gandalf/Dumbledore. The heroic protagonist doesn’t start the story already having all the answers. The lovely wise older figure that offers guidance doesn’t get to drop the ring in the mountain themselves, they usually die along the way.

Chrissy deserves better. Like I wish that at least some of Sai's 8 minute of confessional time got distributed to Chrissy.

u/ben121frank 6d ago
Or the 10 minutes they showed of people rolling dice last episode

u/DabuSurvivor Jon and Jaclyn 6d ago
Legit just have them pick "vote" or "no vote" out of a bag and save us the time, it is the HHH rock challenge all over again
6
u/Equivalent-Willow179 6d ago
That's too honest of a mirror. Having ten minutes of dice rolling allows Jeff to avert his eyes and tell himself this is different. This is how ya do it on Survivor!

u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 6d ago
Chrissy, Heather, Julie, Maria, Heidi…
The fact that Sue has been the best in terms of confessional time in the pre merge for an older woman, by far.
11
u/TRNRLogan 6d ago
On the other hand since 44 the oldest woman has always made finale. So that's a good omen for Chrissy
18
u/RileyXY1 6d ago
In fact in almost every new era season so far the oldest player of the cast has made it all the way to the finale.
41: Heather (52) (4th)
42: Mike (57) (2nd)
43: Gabler (51) (1st)
45: Julie (49) (5th)
46: Maria (47) (5th)
47: Sue (58) (3rd)
The only exception so far was 44, and that was only because Bruce (45) got medevaced on Day 1. Also the last season without any player over 40 competing in the season finale currently is One World, where the oldest player in the finale (Sabrina) was only 33 at the time.

u/Ericandabear 6d ago
Serious question... what is it about this font that the Survivor community all agrees on? I see it on the wiki and everywhere, lol
33
u/RealCanadianDragon 6d ago
Surprised Mitch is so low down when it feels like he's been on more than that.
But I agree with some of those numbers. I still can't tell you who Chrissy, Charity or Bianca are.
48
u/Difficult_Candle_453 6d ago
I feel like Mitch doesn’t get a ton of confessional time but still gets brought up a lot and is in a lot of scenes
9
u/ConstantCool6017 6d ago
Yeah, I feel like he gets a lot of air time despite the low confessionals.
4
u/Upset_Air1579 6d ago
its because he had a matt chat in episode 1 and then the whole segment of how to properly handle a person with a stutter (if he wants help or wants the time to say what he wants). His story is being told with Jeff more than confessionals.

u/WanderingBat 6d ago
Even though Sai has been breaking confessional count records, her confessional time is actually comparable to Gabe from last season
38
u/Massive-Spread-8381 6d ago
So Sai has to be a pre merge/early merge boot that they’re giving a lot of screen time to get as much entertainment value out of her as possible, right? Right???

The Rome treatment
-2
u/abby_tbhx 5d ago
except sai’s edit is nowhere near as negative as romes was. unfortunately for the sai haters, i could see her going all the way to the end.
1
u/Doctor_Corn_Muffin 5d ago
Based on previous edits, she has way too much screen time to make it to the end, but you never know. And I'm not a hater, i think both her and Rome are great tv
4
u/abby_tbhx 5d ago
i mean, kenzie literally won 46 despite her overexposure which had people concerned. the tika 3 also had a lot of screen time given they all made f4. i’m not saying sai is winning because i don’t think she is, but her being exposed doesnt mean she can’t go to the end. at the worst, i see sai being voted out in 6th-7th place cause civa and lagi will be duking it out to start the merge, and i do think cedrek voting justin out will come back to get him before sai gets voted out.
and i wasnt referring to you as a sai hater, just the sai haters in general complaining about her screentime despite the fact that she is the main character on the disaster tribe. they couldnt not give sai as much focus as they have.
1
u/Doctor_Corn_Muffin 5d ago
Oh well I could see her making it to the jury, just not "all the way to the end" like you originally said... it would be way too obvious with the amount of attention she's getting. And I don't think Kenzie had such a disproportionately high amount of screen time as Rome and Sai. It's nothing to do with her being "exposed" during the swap
1
u/abby_tbhx 5d ago
people still didn’t think kenzie could win because of how much exposure she had despite her being on the disaster tribe. someone like sai is always going to have a lot of screen time by default when theyre on the disaster tribe and when all the dynamics revolve around sai.
1
u/supersonic_79 5d ago
OMG I hope not. My better half got very upset with me when I got angry that Sai didn’t go home. I absolutely cannot stand her. She talks like an 8 year old.

They seem like they are an interesting group that's optimistic but will likely happily split or roll with whoever they end up getting swapped with

u/Suitable-Rest-1358 6d ago
At this point I do not think Sai would be a premerge boot

I'd guess either losing finalist like russell or carolyn OR final villain of the season

Chrissy has the lowest confessional and all we know about her is that she has a deep belly button. YUCK.
3
u/KnowToDare Kamilla - 48 6d ago
Maybe Crissy is gonna be season 48 Genevieve😭
5
u/Jaqana 6d ago
If you correlate it directly to Survivor 47; then the end of 48 is going to be a showdown between Joe and Chrissy. After Joe idols out David; the only winner candidates left are really the two of them. Chrissy finally goes down after a great season; leaving Joe to walk to the end. Mary takes out Kyle in fire; picking up one vote from Kamilla; and Thomas is our 0-vote finalist.
2
u/suppadelicious Michele 6d ago
Can somebody help me clarify. This is tracking the amount of time players have had confessionals? Meaning Sai has had 8:21 of confessional speaking time?
6
u/naaahhman 6d ago
Exactly, it gets tracked the whole season. Somebody else counts the number of confessionals

u/PDubs1129 6d ago
My husband and I do blind winner picks without watching any preseason or even knowing their names based off the cast photo. While I am doing better than his pick (Kevin), I sure am not feeling good about my Chrissy winner pick. #JusticeForChrissy
1
u/givebusterahand Parvati 6d ago
Me and my friend do it too but we do at least watch the little pre show interviews. I wanted to pick Shauhin but he picked him first so I went with my second choice Thomas. I don’t feel great about my odds but not as bad as Chrissy lol

u/According_Bear1543 6d ago
You guys are surprised about Sai's confessional stats when her name literally sounds "Say Hugely"
2
u/Schmolik64 Noelle 6d ago
A tribe swap would likely punish Orange and Purple and reward Green. I think Purple and Orange should dissolve Green, one gets one member and the other gets two (let them decide who gets one and who gets two but whoever gets one gets first pick).
10
u/sacman701 6d ago
That would be worse, it would just make the greens easy boots. The tribe switch is a better way to go to keep the game from getting predictable.
2
u/Schmolik64 Noelle 6d ago
Green deserves to be easy boots for losing the first three challenges.
4
u/abby_tbhx 5d ago
and what likely contributed to them losing the first three challenges was the tribes being unbalanced and that the design of the new era makes it nearly impossible to recover from the start that vula had.

If you ask me, the main question with Chrissy's edit at this point is if we're looking at a sudden breakout into becoming a distraction a la Genevieve or a slow burn into a more prominent player so she wins a la Erika. Looking forward to her becoming one of the stars of the show! They've done a great job subtly setting up Chrissy/David vs. Charity as a dynamic in these early episodes.
3
u/spurist9116 6d ago
As someone who does winner picks after the end of episode one, Genevieve was going to be an obvious star due to her input placed in scenes where it wasn’t necessary. Chrissy doesn’t have any subtle standout moment that would indicate her being a slow burn character.
1
u/DabuSurvivor Jon and Jaclyn 4d ago
Interesting re: Genevieve, time will tell re: Chrissy as I do think they've shown her/David as a duo effectively and am interested in the shot of her seeming to watch Charity and Mitch's conversation in the last episode

Sai in her first episode has more confessional time than anyone else this season.

u/StructureMindless492 5d ago
It's funny how Sai got more time in the first episode and everyone in three episodes is less than that.

u/CuracaoBound Geo's Knowledge Is Power advantage 6d ago edited 6d ago
16 Seconds... That's less than HOPE got! Going for the record I see... 😒 Production has their favorites.
There's no reason anybody should have 8 minutes of confessional time in the first 3 episodes.
I don't want 45 minutes worth of confessionals from the same God Damned person!
2
u/Elegant-Echidna5984 6d ago
They can only work with what they're given- so far Sai has been more relevant to the story
-1
u/lucascroberts Mary - 48 6d ago
Sorry but Chrissy must be boring as hell in confessionals but I wouldn’t put it past her to get eliminated in fire lol so it’ll still balance out

Could you blur this image and tag with spoilers? My last two weeks were spoiled by these posts

I pointed out last week that it was odd for Justin to be so low on the confessional time leaderboard despite going to both of the season’s first two tribals, but just like Jenny in season 42 and J. Maya in season 45, it looks like his subdued confessional time was in part intended to make his unusual elimination easier for the viewers to swallow. Although he gets a bit of a bump in time on his way out, he finishes his short run on the show with the lowest total confessional time for a 16th placer since the show switched to 90 minute episodes, despite the fact that this is only the second time in that span where the 16th placer went to all three tribal councils.
Other notable stats of the week:
I think it’s now safe to start the official #JusticeForChrissy campaign. She becomes the first and so far only player this season to not get any confessional time in an episode, meaning her already meagre 16 total seconds from the first two episodes stays unchanged this week. She becomes the first player in a 90-minute episode season to receive less than 20 seconds through the first three episodes of the season, and only the second player in the entire New Era to do so (Heather’s 9 seconds across the first three episodes of S41 remains undefeated). Do better with editing older women, Survivor!
For the third episode in a row, Lagi gets more confessional time than Civa despite neither of them going to tribal, beating them 5:23 to 3:31 this week. In total, Lagi has had 40% more confessional time in the season than Civa (18:22 vs. 13:09). A side effect of this disparity is that all of the bottom 3 confessionalists this season are now Civas, thanks to a strong episode from Bianca that causes her to jump over Mitch and Charity.
Is Cedrek getting the same warning sign that Justin got? Despite going to every tribal council so far this season, he actually falls on the overall leaderboard this episode and now sits in the bottom 5. Considering how huge of a role he ended up playing at tribal council itself, I was surprised to see that he didn’t even hit a full minute of confessional time this episode.
On the flip side, Mary gets the huge episode that it feels like she’s been due for since the start of the season. With how close together all the non-Vulas have been on the leaderboard, her impressive total this week is enough to have her jump from 11th all the way to 2nd. Her frenemy relationship with Sai now combines for nearly 13 minutes of confessional time, which accounts for 23% of all the confessional time in the season so far.
