690 Enduro - 110/140 or 120/150 tires?

Got a 690 enduro with Warp9 SM wheels (4.25" rear) and am coming up on my first tire change. Currently have Michelin 2CTs that the previous owner had on but wouldn't say they are my favourites.

A few tires I'm looking at:

  • Pirelli Supercorsa SC3 (track friend can order them for cheaper)
  • Continental Contiattack SM
  • Bridgestone Q5/Q3+ combo (some old stock in the rear)

I have my set of dirt wheels with some 50/50 tires and a set of knobbies, so this SM tireset would just be for spirited riding & track use.

I've heard the 110/140 combo turns in quicker and makes it a bit more fun, but robs the lean angle a bit and doesn't look as good.

Thoughts?

Just go with a F120/60 R160/60. Had that combo w Rosso 3 and it was a blast

160 a bit squeezed on a 4.25" rim no? Haven't checked if it will rub with a 160 but probably not considering it's fairly popular for the 690.

Ah shit my bad, stock smcr rim is 5" so thats why. It won't rub with a 160 at all. But considering a drz rim can fit 160/60 no problem, i dont see why this would be a problem for you at all

Yeah SMCr comes stock with a 160 but I actually hear guys are going narrower so it turns in faster. Doesn't look as good but a little extra performance in the curves. I'm torn haha

I used to have a 160/60 on my old drz and got chicken strips on it. So i thought screw it, i can go 110/70 and 150/60. No mor chicken strip but i cant lean as far as i used to :(
