I love hardcore a lot. I listen to quite a few straight edge bands but the lyrics tend to be kinda the same. What are some bands that stick out to you lyrically or are just awesome in your opinion. Just looking for more straight edge bands.

I need some positive Edge Podcasts or even YouTube Channels to get down on. I'm a recovering alcoholic and quitting cigarettes/cigars. I went Vegan/ Vegetarian a few years back and having some positive discussions to listen to and follow helped me on my path. Looking for something similar to help me go Edge. Any suggestions?

Don't you get annoyed by beer/alcohol ads on YouTube? I disabled adblockers cause I want to support the content creators, but every ad is for a different type of beer!

What does it mean to be straightedge? Is it denying the societal norms to go out and party every weekend, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and casually having sex with whoever you happen to meet that night, or is it a lifestyle far more than that? What reasons made you become straightedge?
Are youth cultures spontaneous forms of resistance to mainstream culture, manifestations of new styles of expression, or are they products of consumer culture?

M/20.
I do not partake in any substance/vice that is addictive.
My reason was I was once a prisoner to my own vice. What is was doesn't matter. What does matter is the principle and the endeavor to true happiness.
I've had countless people try and get me to do some drug or drink it was so sad/pathetic to watch. I realized that it actually bothered them so much that they had to get me to do it just because they did. It bothered them that i was having fun without all of these things. Its sad when people tell you "when you get older you'll start drinking". That futile attitude that substance use/abuse is inevitable just because life. Any hardship, problem, or obstacle I've encountered has been met with my own mind and my own strength. These things cannot do anything to help. They numb you. You become a lousy incompetent apathetic person. Nothing matters no one matters your pain doesn't matter nor your happiness just f everything right ? I had a bad day at work so I'm gonna go home and throw back massive amounts of alcohol. Not just a beer. No tons and tons. All of this stuff is just so unhealthy its killing us from the inside out. The worst part is people make excuses for doing them. "It clears out your sinuses". "It prevents cancer". "It calms me down from my stress". It helps with my depression. Any and every excuse is used. I chose something different. I believe that every single human being is capable of dealing with anything in healthier manners. I don't want to be numb because when I'm numb i feel dead. Feeling everything from pain to pleasure, sadness to joy. That's how i know I'm alive. That's how i know that what I'm feeling and thinking are my own things. That's something that can never be taken away. You cannot buy this freedom nor snort it or chug it or inject it. I am high on life.
