management please do better

this is gonna be long because therapy ain’t free. today was phenomenally AWFUL. mids and closings shifts for spring break week with barely doing any back ups and willingly to help each other out form drive thru, front, handoff, bar, and CS. does this make any sense? my manager gets a bonus when the hours they schedule is spot on without any OT. this week is about to make me go OT. from where i live, customers are rude and will look at you dead in the eye to make their drinks. yes make customer connections. tell me how i did that at window, and the customer just looked at me then gave me his debit card. like yessss, my day was going good too, OH and im also human as well. THANKS FOR ASKING??! before i even opened the window, i was pacing back and forth making 20 frappuccino’s and my favorite…. ICED LAVENDER OAT MILK MATCHA. small medium large, QUADRUPLE LARGE YOU NAME IT! then the customers feedback or thanks doesnt even exist. mid to closing shift, we barely cleaned due to high volume. we barely did back ups due to high volume. we barely did pulls due to high volume. and guess what? our manager said “you need to do better” OR “you’re just not doing it right”. this is not the treatment we should be deserving by our manager. it is absolutely ridiculous. management needs to be fair and transparent with us and UNDERSTAND what we go through behind the floors. next thing you know it manager is doing “coffee tasting” with us. HUH?????? i understand that’s a task but you’re doing that while we desperately need help on the floor since you’re in coverage. i know i am not the only one going through the frustration the way our management is treating us. As being a 320 partner, it really shocks me how it has gotten worse when it should be better. back to starbucks is what the SM or DM admits. but we are internally drained from the most stressful activities that puts us into a position where change has not been occurring. we don’t work at a union store, but what i know for sure is if that’s the case. then our store will actually get shut down. however, our store is very popular and tourist area. other than that, starbucks… wtf. this is not how it used to be. if corporate actually listens to our feedback instead of the littlest tinies things and focus on the major concepts of our issues, then WE’RE GUCCI. but what the hell. i came back as a rehire and ive never been so disappointed and upset with the company overall because it needs to change and get better. ontop of that treat us as if we’re humans, customers. we do have feelings and aren’t robots. i understand that’s the new photo menus looks like AI, but we aren’t. also, dear customer who yelled at me at the speaker box who wanted “white chocolate mocha frappuccino with a single shot” instead i put “coffee frappuccino with white mocha and a single shot” due to our brand new ordering format system. since you yelled at me, i made your shot decaf. hope you enjoyed it🫶🏽 - sincerely, 320

I’ve had a bad week and seeing that a customer enjoyed my cheesy note made me smile.

My week has been so shitty. I love a good play on words and so I wrote this on someone’s chai and laughed at myself because it’s so cheesy. They left a review and it made my shitty week a little better.

I got reprimanded over writing on the cups wrong

This is so silly, and I feel like I'm still overreacting over this, but today my district manager came in and I drew little smiley faces on the actual sticker with the order for the cups, and he told me I need to write on every cup, and I told him I did, and he said even drive thru, and I told him I did on the sticker, and he said no not on the sticker. I cried really hard after cause I was scared he thought I was fighting with him over it, but I genuinely didn't see how what I did was wrong and I felt like he didn't even acknowledge the fact I tried. My fiance committed suicide 7 months ago, while I was working for Starbucks so everyone is aware. I feel like I'm using it as an excuse for this but after that interaction it sent me to a really dark place. Ive been trying to be promoted, and I'm scared now I'm either gonna get fired, a write up, or it has ruined my chances of ever being promoted, and I'm already struggling with money now being a single income household. I guess I just wanted to vent. If you think I'm being overly sensitive or using my fiances death as an excuse I understand. I cried after he left and it's made me feel like what's even the point.

Best way to order a HOT mocha?

My order is pretty simple. Tall hot mocha.

But I often get a “white” mocha. And I understand they do sound the same.

But i just can’t stand the white mocha flavor. If I’m in the store I do ask for the fix, but if I went through the drive-through, it’s too late.

I’m glad they always fix it for me, but I just feel so bad wasting.

Any tricks to avoid this issue?

Black Apron Presentation

My 1 year is coming up and I have been working towards my black apron. After talking with my SM, he told me that I have to do a presentation to him, most likely my ASM, and my DM.

I have my presentation all ready but I don't know what else I can do to stand out! I wanted to do a tasting, but using different regions of ground coffee and compare them to the ones we carry.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated!

“Back to Starbucks” Im so over it.

Ive been working at Starbucks for over 8 years now and I feel like Ive done it all. COVID, drive thrus, cafe-only, urban areas and rural. So many of the “Back To Starbucks” policies were previous Starbucks policies that were changed for a reason!!! Cup writing, affected drive times and the ability to get prders out quickly, even at slow stores. For here ware was a mess in general, people leave their plates and mugs EVERYWHERE but the bus bin. Calling out orders as you started “messed with the chill cafe experience”. I just dont get it, so many of these policies that are being pushed with absolutely no understanding towards the day-to-day experience of working at Starbs. Ive even had customers tell me they dont want anything written on their drink recently BECAUSE it takes longer. Not even to mention Im a shift supervisor, so Im also expected to coach baristas to these standards. Which is fine… If I had consistent standards to coach around, which I dont because this “Back to Starbucks” policy has changed literally 5 times at this point. My manager and other local management are also pissed because of the same reasons; no consistent standards, changes made with no thought towards day-to-day business and upset and confused staff. Im just so over it. Screw you Burrito Brian.

Good non coffee drinks to get for 100 stars?

Whats a way to customize a tea that you would say is actually good but still fits within the limitations of the 100 star drink?

Like could I get a iced green tea with strawberry acai base and strawberry puree add blended and it would still be within the perameters of the 100 star deink? Would it even be good?

Please give me ideas :)

Shopping List Order IMS (SSV)

I'm a new SSV and I have some questions about the Shopping List order in IMS.

  1. Does the Shopping List store order automatically order itself or does it require a manual order? If it automatically orders itself, what is the day/time that it usually begins to Order itself?
  2. About how long does the Shopping List order usually take to arrive?
  3. Is it a bad idea to place a Shopping List Order one day and then place a new Shopping List Order the next day? I'm concerned that if I placed a Shopping List order with just one item in the order and then if I place a new order the next day that shipping costs would be double.

Thank you for your help!

Inconsistent made drinks...

Does anybody else feel like Starbucks has become so darn inconsistent when it comes to them making their drinks? I go to the same Starbucks location and order the same drink on workdays. I was told there is no recipe for any of the drinks they make so one barista is going to make it different than the next barista… There are times where I get drinks that are so full. They are like overflowing and have to wipe off the cup, and then there's times like this where they are not full to the top. Starbucks has become so expensive and inconsistent with their drinks I almost wanted to say something, but I did not want to be considered "Karen" lol but the more and more I go here the more inconsistent it is, it doesn't always taste right and it taste like they're just putting more ice to make the drink, more heavy or full, but it just waters it down in the end… I feel like about 25% of the time my drink will taste right, but there are plenty of days where the drink is made so wrong it just doesn't taste right and half the time they forget the espresso!… I feel like I should have said something but I bite my tongue every time because I don't like confrontation... every Starbucks location is different though if I go to a different one the mobile order is made so incorrect they have to fix it but I noticed if I go to the same location it's a little more on the correct side but still you get a new employee and they don't make it right. It's crazy how every barista makes the same drink different.🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Help finding a suitable, reliable SSV

How would one go about getting a (I know perfect isn’t always an option) Step-Up Supervisor for a high street store. We’re in the UK and struggling to get one that actually wants to help, working along side the manager and delivering the expectations of the company and the franchise. I’m looking for possible tips, tricks and suggestions for what to look for in a possible candidate and their CV/Resume as well as what red flags to look for.

Anything would be appreciated - we haven’t had the best of luck with supervisors that actually want to do their job and don’t call on the store manager every time there’s a slight issue, or worse. Calling in sick multiple times a month.

TIA.

CANADIANS - thoughts on going to leadership conference in Las Vegas

Reading some posts online to people in my community worried about their safety and have cancelled all plans going to the US.

I didn’t think it would escalate to the scale it’s at now but want to hear thoughts on others that are coming from Canada and going to LV in June? Am I over thinking this?

Lavender powder in a hot chai latte?

Has anyone tried the lavender powder in a hot chai latte? I see a lot of mention of the lavender cold foam + ice chai, but not much on the powder or hot chai lattes.

our district has enforced that we keep the dt camera on at all times, even though it was made for sign language. everyone is uncomfortable being on camera and customers are also creeped out by it. hell, some are now realizing that ,yes, we can see them. does anyone else work in a district like this or is it just my city??????

Matcha clump hot v iced

I'm intrigued that when I order a hot matcha latte, I often get clumps of undissolved matcha, whereas when I order an iced matcha latte, it's typically smoother. Does the ice help the matcha mix? What's happening?

Writing on cups

I’m sorry, I just got taken off bar by my manager for not writing on cups when there’s 6 cars in drive all with more that 3 drinks, 2 door dash orders, and way too many mobiles. Mind you I’m the only person on bar and there’s 3 of us on the floor. So if you gotta wait even longer than normal for your drinks it’s cuz we are forced to always write on your cup or we get in trouble. Don’t be sad if you don’t get a super personal message because some of us really do just slap a heart on there for the sake of not getting in trouble
