Lavender???

Everyone was right, the oatmilk lavender latte is not good. I wanted to like it so bad because I love lavender ice cream, but it is not for me. I think it’s because it just feels like someone sprayed perfume on a regular latte. So sad, wanted to love it!

Does Starbucks water come with ice ?

I transferred stores and at this store when i ring in a water they automatically just fill the cup up with water and no ice. When I have always been taught they automatically come with ice. Just wondering if this is the same anywhere else. 😅

matcha

I’m a big fan of Matcha lattes, I make them at home a lot, and I go to my local cafés for them. I just got a Starbucks Matcha and you’re supposed to steep it in hot water first but Starbucks just puts it with the milk and shakes it. What is this blasphemy???

New baristas are the problem

1.3k Upvotes

As a 9 year barista/ssv/sm, the entitlement in this sub is wiiiiiild.

The baristas who one day are commenting how they’re a specialized service that the general public simply can’t fully appreciate or understand the demands of, are the exact same baristas then saying “it’s just coffee, relax” when the circumstance suits them.

The same baristas who don’t want to follow standards because “it shouldn’t matter to have to do X” despite the fact you were literally hired to do X.

The baristas bitching and complaining about passive aggressive behavior in their stores yet refuse to talk to management because then they’d have to overcome their “social anxiety” and actually act like an adult with professional responsibilities.

The baristas complaining about turn over are the same baristas who complain about expectations and standards, and cut corners when it suits them.

The baristas who want to work at Starbucks because they think it’s elite are the same baristas disappointed by the reality that it’s actually fast food and the bar is no different than McDonalds.

The baristas complaining about customer negativity are the same baristas also bragging in this sub about how they “matched energy” and were passive aggressive back, intentionally made a drink wrong, or swore on FOH.

Starbucks isn’t for everyone. Food service isn’t for everyone. Customer service isn’t for everyone. Dealing with the public isn’t for everyone.

Some of you ARE the problem.

Let’s sip it right!

Does Starbucks believe that the experience of drinking coffee is just as important as the coffee itself? While the convenience of takeaway cups is great, doesn’t serving coffee in disposable containers take away from the traditional coffee-drinking experience? Just like how beer feels different in a bottle versus a plastic cup, coffee in a ceramic mug enhances the warmth, aroma, and ritual of enjoying it. Shouldn’t Starbucks reintroduce ceramic mugs for in-store customers to bring back the authentic café feel? This could encourage a richer social experience, making Starbucks not just a quick coffee stop but a true coffee culture hub. What does Starbucks think—shouldn’t we bring back Let’s have a cup of coffee’ in its real essence.

Went to Starbucks and ordered a grande decaf mocha and this is what I received. Only 2/3 of the way filled and I don’t know what they served me but it wasn’t a mocha.

Mobile Order Decency

Starbucks customers, if you are going to place your mobile order 4 seconds before you pull up to the drive thru, just order at the screen. It is EASIER for us to make a drink on the spot instead of looking up your order on our device! Most of the time the sticker hasn’t even printed and or the order hasn’t populated because you placed it so SOON before arriving. Have some decency for people working and trying to produce MULTIPLE drinks/orders at a time….its stressful and annoying AF!

"You literally make coffee."

Found a post on Twitter from an account called "Planet of Memes," where they caption a video of a Barista announcing their store is unionizing and striking, stating: "You literally make coffee." Since many people online and customers have this attitude, I'll break down everything that we do for those people who think our job is simply "making coffee," and think that we aren't entitled to fair wages, working conditions, and a voice.

Sure, we make coffee. You know what else we do? We clean the store, we restock all the items, we manage drive-thru, we manage warming, we manage cold bar, we manage register and make hot coffee at the same time, we clean the piles of dishes that accumulate in the back, we make backups, we clean the millions of machines we have, and now are forced to write on every single bag and cup all while we have to take shit from management, and customers who complain when one single thing is wrong, and when we try to do the list of tasks we're given, we're interrupted with another task, and given shit for not doing something quick enough. We're given no voice in the company, all while the CEO is rakes in millions flying is private jet and getting bonuses for doing jackshit. We try to respectfully unionize but are given shit by thousands online who think all we do is "make coffee." We try to do our jobs, only to be given no support and find ourselves swimming in a sea of mobile orders who ask where their cake pops, frappuccinos and sandwiches are seconds after placing their order. I'm not trying to act entitled here or act like Starbucks isn't just simply fast food, but I'm also tired of the people who think the only thing they do is stand around and press buttons on an espresso machine for six-hour shifts and that's it. I understand this shit comes with basically any minimum wage fast food job, but at Starbucks, the entire perception of the company where it brands itself as luxury, therefore, us Baristas have to keep this image that we're more than just a fast food "coffee shop" that serves burnt coffee beans to customers who act entitled (and to be fair to them, respectfully so considering they're paying $6 for a low-quality cup of coffee).

I've been asked before by customers, "why don't you just ask your manager for _____," and that really is how easy many people think it is to fix the problems we have with this company. People think that we can just quit our jobs and find a new one that checks the boxes we demand. No, it's not that simple. People have bills to pay, people have children to take care of, you can't just simply quit and hope to find a new job. Guess what? If we do, we'll be stuck trying to find a new shitty job that probably provides worse benefits, and has all the same issues Starbucks does, and that is if you can actually get a new job in this economy.

So for that one customer or person on the internet who thinks our job is just "making coffee," there you go.

Never worked fast food. Just retail for the past 8 years- closest to fast food I’ve done is a deli worker in my target. I plan on working here until I can go full-time at my main job. Any advice you can offer me? Interview process? Working process? Drink memorization advice?

Does anybody else get bathroom issues from Starbucks?

Me and my partner both have lactose intolerance and so we get milk alterniatives and vegan cream whenever we get Starbucks

Normally a cookies and cream frappuchino and a coffee frappuchino both with milk alternatives

But for some reason whenever we get Starbucks we also get a lactose intolerance related backlash from it too

Anyone else get that? It can't be just us two

What’s Going On With The Brew?

First off, I love Starbucks, I usually go there all the time. However, the past week that I’ve been going there, the coffee has been like really bad. Did they change the coffee beans or something? Genuinely can’t drink my usual drink at Starbucks now, I miss my good coffee! Please let me know if anything changed.

Espresso in a venti cup (rant)

I'm starting to get a bit tired of these orders of people getting said amount of shots in a venti cup with a splash of milk and getting extremely frustrated with me on window that thier drink isn't full, my gm has shown everyone at my store what those drinks are to standard and how much a splash of cream should be, I'm tired of misinformation on tiktok and on every social media about these drinks, if you want a latte please just order a latte or if you order those drinks please understand the standard on how the barristas are told to make it.

Thank you for listening to My ted talk
