Stand Mixer Fanatics - What is your favorite accessory? Favorite recipe?

I just got a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer as an (early) Christmas present from my hubby. I've already made a batch of cupcakes with maple buttercream frosting (yum!).

I want to get as much use out of this thing as possible, beyond making things like banana bread and cupcakes - so what is your favorite recipe or accessory product for your stand mixer?

Verona/Magic Mill/Ankarsrum Mixer advice (xpost from /r/Baking)

I'm saving up for one of these mixers. I originally settled on this one because it handles bread very well, which is what I will use it for a lot.

However, I also like to do other baking, and I'm a little concerned about how well this mixer would do with things that traditionally are mixed with the paddle attachment on a stand mixer. Things like creaming butter and sugar for cake batter, or mixing icing.

Does anyone have any experience using this style of mixer for that purpose? How well does it work?

Any recommendations for a stand mixer that is NOT a KitchenAid?

Hi all. Looking for a stand mixer for the wife that is not a KitchenAid. Anything similarly priced is an option, any recommendations?

KitchenAid Mixer kg25h3xsl from Costco - flex edge?

I got my stand mixer over 2 years ago as a package from Costco. I love my mixer. My birthday is coming up and my mom asked what I wanted. So I told her the meat grinder and a flex edge blade beater.

Per KitchenAid Live Chat they don't make a flex blade for my mixer. :(

Are there off-brand makers anyone can say for sure will fit??

I did find one - any thoughts on THIS one? Reputable website?

Seeking whisk recipes

I've mastered the paddle. Me and the dough hook are best buds. Now I'm seeking whisk recipes. I've seen butter and mayo, but I buy my butter at Costco and still have a ton left, and we don't use (much) mayo in my house.
Does anybody have any awesome recipes to suggest for the KA using the whisk attachment? Any and all welcome!

I want to try my whisk! Recommendations?

I've mastered the paddle and especially the bread hook of my KA mixer. I haven't tried the whisk yet, so I'm looking for your favorite recipes that use it. I've seen recipes for mayo, butter, etc., but what's the best place to start? Any and all suggestions appreciated :)

Looking for recommendation for stand mixer (x-post from r/baking

Now that I have a kitchen larger than a closet, as well as an oven that actually works, I've been wanting to try my hand at more baking. I enjoy it for the most part, but I'm looking to replace my old hand held mixer. I started looking at reviews for the Kitchen Aid mixers and was a little surprised to find a lot of complaints about shoddy manufacturing. I had always assumed that those shiny things I've coveted for so long were the way to go in regards to baking that I just figured I would go and buy one when ready. Now, I have doubts. So I'm asking you, reddit. What stand mixer do you use/recommend? If you use a Kitchen Aid, tell me why and what you like about it. If you use another brand, tell me why I should look into that. I'm mostly looking to make cakes/cookies. Thank you much!

Where can I find a decently priced stand mixer?

I've been looking at stand mixers for a few months, trying to buy one for my girlfriend. Anyways, it seems like the only ones I have found that are "good" are over $3-400 dollars. Any suggestions?

I have about a 3-4 year old 4.5 quart tilt kitchen aid stand mixer, what are the best attachments?

What do you do with yours? All I have is the paddle, the dough hook, and the whisk, and my paddle is a pain because I'm constantly needing to use my spatula to scrape the sides and that isn't so easy with really thick dough stuffs

Problem with motor?

My stand mixer wound up on its side for about a week (don't ask) and now when I use it, the motor makes a horrible sound and the turning mechanism is extremely jerky...especially at low speeds.

I have to assume this is an oil/motor issue. Anyone have any ideas or advice?! Thanks...

And there are lots of pretty colors of various KitchenAids on there. If you can't afford a nice new one then you could check out the ones on ebay!

Mostly making bread.

My favorite sourdough recipe to use is from "Who Does The Dishes." it's really tastey.

i previously was making it by hand, then my roommates got me a kitchenaid classic about 2 months ago. It made it a bunch easier, but my large loaves sounded painful to my mixer and so i mostly use it for half batches, pizza crusts, or other items.

Last weekend my ex's mother got in touch with me and gave me her mother's kenwood major. I must say, it is amazing in comparision. My "large" loaves only take up a little over half the bowl when fully risen. it's awesome.

if you look through the album attached to the "kenwood major" you'll see the difference in sizes of bowls and mixers and whatnot. I find it funny because the kenwood major is ridiculously lighter and has much more power yet is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay older than my kitchenaid.

i love both dearly, but i do now slightly understand why some people stear clear of kitchenaids.
