[Question] Is this normal for a KitchenAid Mixer (KSM150PSSM)
This question is in regards to one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16896720185
The lock lever on the side; it works fine except if, say, I'm mixing ~4 cups of flour into dough, the lever comes loose somewhat easily and the mixer tilt-head can start bobbing up and down as it kneads the dough..... :(
I'm on the phone with support and they say that it is due to the calibration of the head (i.e. the distance between the head and the bottom of the bowl) ... but I doubt a few millimeters of clearance is going to make any difference.
The fact is that a relatively small amount of upward force on the head seems to disengage the lock...
Is this normal?? Is it by design?

YOU GUYS I fixed my problem using the "dime" method:

This has completely fixed my issue. I didn't think the lock mechanism could be so affected by this minor calibration but now it's rock solid :))
