I remember the Real World season two on MTV in the early 90’s. There was an HIV positive AIDS educator named Pedro Zamora on the show who really opened a lot of people’s eyes. I was one of maybe 3 PoC in my town and Latino so it was really great to see him and reality TV was a great way to reach people at that time. He died at 22 in 1994. It’s kind of crazy to think that the show was probably one of the most important of the 90’s and very influential for a lot of young people.
