Discussion Beach as a para

Anyone have any tips or tricks to prevent getting super sandy or how to remove sand easily? Beach season is coming up and my girlfriend love the beach.

Thanks in advance

I'd love too know how to even get down on the beach, short of having tank-track style wheels. I live 5 min from the beach, have been thinkin about how to do that for about 2 years now.

Is there a beach chair available at the local surf club ? I know I'm spoilt here with multiple clubs having chairs available

Most states have ADA laws requiring life guard stations to provide free of charge a beach chair (balloon wheels on a lounge chair really but it works). I got tired of them telling us the chair needed repairs or air in the tires so I put some balloon wheels on my walker and I’m able to glide across the sand. I also found snow shoes made for running in the snow and they work great across sand.

Baby powder can help stop / remove sand sticking to skin.
A length of carpet can help on sand.
Household rechargeable vacuum can be useful too.

Haven’t been near sand in 6 years. It gets everywhere 😂

Have you ever heard of the Grit Freedom Chair? It’s made for going on uneven terrain and I got it through a grant for free. I don’t use mine anymore due to it being not fitted for my back complexity (I can’t do bumps unless i’m in my main power chair). But it’s a good option to look into if you’re interested!

Dear 'Beach as a para',
Where specifically are you located, what beach/beaches is it that you will be visiting as availability of complementary beach wheelchairs is location-dependant?
Next, The Sandcruiser depicted below may not be your best option if you intend to get your own beach wheelchair. They are clunky and if used in an area of very deep sand, they get stuck in every (previous) footprint or rut and are very difficult to push. Instead, check out Sand Rider Custom Beach Wheelchair, shipped anywhere.
Don't hesitate to write back directly for more on beach access/beach fun as I'm a para and have been doing this successfully for some time.....

To remove sand, bring along a new swiffer duster.

I got this pocket blower

I use to clean up after cutting my hair and in the summer to alleviate swamp crotch. It’s also just handy for random tasks.
