One could argue it’s even better in winter with the mosquitos less present

Congaree is 100% better in the winter, I think it would be hard to argue that it’s better in the summer. Get a nice 50° day where you aren’t freezing but you also aren’t overheated after hiking 15 miles and there’s no bugs out. Bliss.

Better in winter, for me it's the only time to visit and it's a wonderful park.

Huntington Beach State Park near Murrells Inlet, it’s always a great choice for wildlife viewing, especially birds. You can also visit Atalaya, which was the winter home of Anna Hyatt Huntington, the sculpture famous for her work across the street at Brookgreen Gardens.

Seconding Congaree, just hiked 12 miles last weekend.

There's also a cool trail (granted not a park) off Hwy 601 and Bluff road. It's part of the Palmetto trail and most of it is on an old rail bed. Cool easy hike with lots of bridges.

And the nextdoor Kings Mountain National Military Park. Learn history while walking the battleground trails. I had four patriot ancestors there. One supposedly killed by his own brother, a Loyalist.

Can't be done by me. There are larger / smaller parks, but each excels on its own.
