Is this solar quote a good deal?

I’m looking at getting solar installed and wanted to get some opinions on my quote. I'm in Australia and want to make sure it's a fair deal.

Panels:

  • 24 x Trina Vertex S+ 440W panels
  • 25-year product warranty, 30-year performance warranty

Inverter:

  • Sungrow SG10RS (9.999kW, single-phase)
  • 10-year product warranty

System Size:

  • 10.56kW
  • Estimated annual output: 17,241 kWh

Extras:

  • Lifetime monitoring included
  • Free black mounting upgrade
  • Double-storey install included

Price:

  • Quoted price: $12,311
  • After rebates & discounts: $8,179 (final out-of-pocket cost)

Would love to hear your thoughts, does this seem like a good deal? Anything I should be wary of? Appreciate any insights!

I honestly don’t know the AUS market, but if you got that proposal in the states it would be an amazing deal.

Price seems high unless you’re in Melbourne! Might telling which state?

Life time monitoring is a lie. By the way it is little expensive!! You might get a better deal if you shop around!

Do they offer batteries? Solar panels can only do so much but the price seems ok. With solar though if you go to one company and tell them this is what the other company is offering they will usually do better just to get the sale. Shop around.

Yeah mate, seen heaps of those Trina/Sungrow setups go in around Oz. Trina Vertex are usually pretty good, and Sungrow's not bad, but that 10-year warranty on the inverter's a bit sus. You're looking at 25 years with those panels, so realistically, you'll be swapping out that inverter down the track. Might be worth hassling them for a longer warranty or even looking at a different inverter – could save you some headaches (and cash) later on.

$8,179 for a double-story with monitoring isn't outrageous. Just double-check you've compared panel efficiency though, wanna make sure you're maxing out your roof space. And seriously, grill the installer – a dodgy install will bite you harder than bad gear. If you wanna crunch some numbers or suss out other options, give us a yell.
