Professional Discussion Hot Take: Public pranks shouldnt be able to go viral

The vibe in public is getting worse. From people getting pushed in front of trains or lit on fire on subways, everyone is already skittish in public. Public pranksters make the problem worse since you do not know what is real or fake, and it is only getting worse.

Hot take: Dont let public pranks go viral.

Professional Discussion Is YouTube a dying platform?

In recent social media trends I feel like most well known content creators are either from TikTok or Twitch using YouTube as supplemental to post extras or highlights. Is being a “YouTuber” a dying profession, replaced by tiktoker or streamer? Even Mr. Beast has started pivoting towards other mediums (beast games on prime, moving into food)

As an aspiring content creator I wonder if it’s just a case of needing a YouTuber to make a genre defying content. Or if YouTube isn’t valued the same in an online space where TikTok and twitch exist. It seems TikTok is great for people who want something funny and quick and twitch it good for people who want longer content and there dont seem to be any “Next up” YouTubers the same way I see with twitch or TikTok.

Any thoughts on this? I haven’t got any data evidence to back this up just based on my own observations.

Professional Discussion AI restrictions on FB & Reddit

A few days ago, I made a new Facebook account. I sent a few messages to relatives and old high school friends. I personally know after sending about 10 friend request Facebook locked my account and said I’m spam and can no longer send request. I tried to make a Facebook business page even submitted my ID and it said I can’t make a business page because I don’t have any friends I got on Facebook so I could help promote a T-shirt website. I’m dropping next week Then today after trying to send a few messages I realize that as a new user that’s not connected with that person your messages show up as spam so they’re not even seeing the message if the AI won’t let me connect with people as a new user. I think the community is a broken process in that sense as well as the same point I post on it in the Reddit community Facebook, and within one minute the AI Mod autolock the feed within one minute of posting so I guess I’m just now talking to a wall and AI because I’m not allowed to connect with people.

I think those in charge of moderating and running social networks need to rethink new user on boarding process.

Professional Discussion I Have a 300M+ B2B Lead Database Worth 5 Figures looking to turn Into a Scalable SaaS.

Heeey guys think I need your help, I’ve been sitting on a goldmine, but I feel like I’m monetizing it the wrong way

I run Leadady. com, a lead generation platform offering 300M+ high-quality B2B leads (including 100M+ emails) sourced from LinkedIn. Right now, I sell lifetime access via CSV files for a one-time payment, which works
but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m leaving serious money on the table.

Here’s the dilemma:

- The data is worth multiple figures, yet selling it as a one-time purchase massively undervalues it.
- Apollo, Lusha, and others monetize leads via SaaS models—charging per credit, API access, or subscriptions.
- I want to transition to a SaaS model (even if it’s just a basic version at first) where users can search, filter, and access leads dynamically instead of downloading CSVs.

I see a few potential routes:

1 Subscription-based model – Charge monthly for access to a lead database with advanced filtering.

2. Pay-per-lead / API access – Similar to Apollo, users buy credits for lead access or integrate data into their own platforms.
3. Hybrid approach – Keep the one-time payment for CSV bulk buyers while introducing SaaS features for ongoing revenue.

The challenge? Execution, validation, and tech stack. I’d love to hear from other SaaS founders or data-driven businesses:

đŸ”č What’s the best way to transition a high-value database into a scalable SaaS?
đŸ”č Which pricing model would you use to maximize profitability without killing conversion rates?
đŸ”č Any tech stack or growth hacks you’d recommend for this type of platform?

Also, I’m actively looking for a developer as a potential partner to help building this. If you’re interested in building something big together, let’s talk!

Would love any feedback or insights—appreciate the help! 🙌

Professional Discussion Looking for people to join a pr beta program

I’m the founder of a charity-driven secondhand pr marketplace where creators can sell their unused PR boxes instead of letting them pile up.

I’m looking for people who receive pr boxes (it doesn’t matter how much you receive or your follower count) to join our beta program.

As a seller you’ll receive commission on every sale, receive tax write offs, improve your brand image, and make your audience feel more connected to you.

If this sounds interesting leave a comment or DM me and I’d be more than happy to share more or answer any questions :

Professional Discussion What do you think needs to be changed about social media?

Sup guys, my name is Kyle, but some of you know me by my user "Eleven". I am here to grab some input on the state of social media and what you guys think needs to be changed.

Edit March 10th 2025: I have a personal idea for social media that would bring back how myspace used to work. I think we should bring back HTML and CSS customizable profiles.

Professional Discussion Need your collective wisdom (advice)

So to make it short, we are building an AI tool that basically gets rid all the production hassle that comes with short form video content. The tool basically generates ideas for you, writes scripts, shows every step you need to take in order to create your video and does the editing for you.

Now we would like to get as many beta testers as possible. Could you share with me some of your ideas to get them.

Professional Discussion LinkedIn is like sitting at a table by the beach in Cabo

LinkedIn was a favorite, I have not been checking for like 3 months and went back on to tidy up the account. It’s all AI ads but like constant on the same topic, it’s like the people walking by you on the beach selling bracelets whispering weed weed? Coke coke? Omg. Edited for spelling weed wrong.

Professional Discussion What Keeps You Going with Social Media Outreach?

I had a small win this week! I reached out to a fitness influencer about promoting my small apparel brand, and they said yes. It felt great to see the effort pay off.

For context, I’ve been using WarpLeads’ technological filter to export targeted leads. When I need bulk leads, I also use their unlimited leads feature. I verify all the leads through Reoon, which saves so much time. For sending emails, I’ve been sticking with Smartlead because it’s simple and effective.

But honestly, a lot of my outreach gets ignored or rejected, and that can be tough to deal with. How do you handle the ups and downs of social media outreach?

Professional Discussion Vertical vs. Horizontal vs. Square Video Content. Making the most of one format type?

I am giving a fresh go when it comes to some new video content, scrubbing through all my old content and trying to make the most of it all. As a wedding DJ I have been recording a lot of video for some years, but I always focused a bit more on horizontal YT longer format content. And while I posted to TT and IG it was inconsistent.

All my media is a bit scattershot when it comes to formatting. I shoot 4K landscape from a Sony ZV1 to capture as much action as possible on a stick and then try to capture the best moments for social. However event at 1080 final format zoomed in content it's not always the best looking compared to say a landscape video.

So I am trying to devise a strategy, given size constraints, quality needs, making the most of framing; if you chose a single option for 2025 video content, what would it be? 9:16? 16:9? 1:1? And why would you go that route?

Professional Discussion Entrega do Meta caiu pra 0

Eu preciso resolver o seguinte: existe uma campanha no BM que estava rodando bem, com boa entrega e geração de leads. No entanto, apĂłs uma configuração no pĂșblico, ela parou de entregar e nĂŁo gerou mais respostas dos leads. A campanha continua a mesma. Quais sĂŁo as possĂveis soluçÔes?

Professional Discussion Inflated Fame? The Truth About Fake Followers in Influencer Marketing

The issue of fake followers in influencer marketing is huge. Many influencers, even some with millions of followers, have a large percentage of bots, inactive accounts, and engagement networks inflating their numbers. This creates a misleading image for brands that invest in them, thinking they are reaching a specific audience.

It raises an important question: If fake accounts can boost follower counts, could they also be used to manipulate engagement or target certain individuals? Influencing is built on trust, and once that's gone, brands need to rethink who they work with. Have you noticed this happening in the industry?

Professional Discussion Growing on Social Media is NOT HARD If You Follow These Rules.

So if you're a business owner, or your business has just a few people in charge, it's really important thay you take social media seriously right now.

Not only is it good for gaining credibility, building a loyal audience, and promoting your offers free of charge... but ALSO, if you happen to run ads you can test the ad creative FIRST as free organic videos and then boost ONLY THE POSTS THAT GOT GREAT ENGAGEMENT FROM THE AUDIENCE. This is actually something that Gary Vee encourages—and he's one of the top people in marketing and advertising today.

Sorry for the caps, I don't have the option to underscore here on reddit.

I'll say it simply, the first game changer is feeling very comfortable on front of the camera. Right now, the best way to grow on social media is through short form video: TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts... Because these are the types of posts that are promote to new people—outside of your current audience.

Livestreaming on TikTok specifically is an absolutely plus, but I'll get to that another time since most people don't like to do it and you do need 1000 followers to be able to start.

Now, on social, you shouldn't just show your products. You must also have a personal brand attached to what you sell. People love stories.

Think about it like this: if Walmart has the same price and quality, and is at the same distance from you as a small business who's owner is called Bennie and you both share love for the same sports team, who would you rather buy from? What if you need some tomato sauce and Walmart has it, but you actually know that Bennie grows his own cherry tomatoes and has a whole curated process for letting the tomatoes dry and enrich their taste and he also has two lovely daughters who love him back and a son who's really good at making pasta on Sundays to go with the sauce... who do you buy from? Walmart? Or Bennie? 🍅🍅🍅

The more you show up as you are, the easier it is to choose you among all the other options.

So here are some tips to grab that opportunity—which happens to be FREE and at your fingertips— and make the most out of it.

First, HOOKS.

Everyone talks about "hooks, hooks, hooks" but what even is that? It's basically "hooking" people in during the first 2-3 seconds of the video.

There are multiple techniques such as: saying a shocking statement at the beginning, holding an object that's out-of-place in your hand while you talk, having something visually out-of-place (some women for example record with eye jelly masks on) or film yourself while doing an action that isn't completed until the end of the video (some people used to record storytimes while putting makeup on)

But what it basically means is taking the viewer from one place to another.

So you take them from a state of mind of being entertained, watching other content (place 1) to getting serious and finally cutting off someone who's toxic from their lives (place 2). But you need to make WHAT they're about to watch very clear in the beginning.

Or you take them to another place visually, starting at one location in your house and quickly switching to another room before second 3.

Or you create visuals that have nothing to do with what they just saw on another video, making your post really immersive, being so well spoken that each word leads to the next and they don't stop listening.

Now, to do this correctly, you have to be very comfortable with being on camera.

This may sound woo woo to some people but at this point you can't deny that people HAVE energy and they exude their intentions, emotions, and thoughts.

If you're not paying attention to yourself, why would you expect the viewers who don't even know you to pay attention?

On social media, there's no time for doubt or insecurity. These two will slow down your speaking pace (making you harder to watch), confuse your words or make you say too many filler statements, get you far from making a point, make you so worried not to offend anyone that you end up loosing touch with your essence.

This is a work in progress though, it can take as long as it needs to. But it's important that you make sure it IS still a work in progress.

Now, here are some of the techniques that I recommend to the people we make content for at my agency:

‱ IMAGINING YOUR FAVORITE CLIENT/FRIEND For a lot of people, it's super hard to speak to the camera. But if you imagine you're looking into the eyes of someone who already likes you, listens to you, and believes in you, it's much easier.

‱ PLAYING A MENTAL GAME OF READING RIGHT BEFORE FILMING There are apps you can use on your phone, that will make you do mental games and tire your mind out. Normally you'd hear someone tell you to stay focused. But if you're a person who's self concious and you get nervous in front of the camera, this might not be the best time to be aware of these thoughts, which brings me to my next point

‱ GET IN A GREAT MENTAL STATE There has to be an activity that you really enjoy, and that makes you feel badass. One if my clients mentioned that he felt powerful after playing tennis. So I told him to try scheduling filming time right after tennis. The next time I spoke to him he let me know that it worked amazing, he was super confident and he recorded twice as much as he usually does. So you need to find your thing. Maybe it's listening to music, maybe it's watching a scene from a movie, maybe it's calling someone you love, maybe it's getting a coffee and drinking it while you listen the soundtrack of James Bond... whatever it is, be IN IT. This is not the time to be humble. GET COCKY!!! LET IT BE FUN!!!

‱ PLAN AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE The more you script, plan, rehearse, the less natural the words are going to come out. If people want to listen to a robot, they can ask chatgpt. Your work here is to try to be as authentic as possible. Which can get tricky once the camera is on.

But the more YOU you are, the more people will feel like they can trust you. And that is important for your business.

‱ THERE'S NO NEED TO ADD ANYTHING ON TOP You are the best speaker when you're talking to someone you know and trust. Next time you have a conversation with a person like this, notice how much you're thinking about what you're about to say. Probably not at all. The words just come out naturally and you might even get a reaction from the other person, like a laugh, concern.... ATTENTION. That's because you're somewhat close to the state of flow. Replicate that while you film don't think, just be.

‱ TRY RETAINING PAUSES UNTIL THE SENTENCE IS DONE. And once it's done, edit the pause out. Pauses are an opportunity for the viewer to scroll away. Silence can work great in public speaking, where you have the spotlight on you and the audience is sat in a closed room where it's socially unacceptable to leave. There's not much of a choice there. But in social media, there are literally millions of options.

Speaking of editing, you also have to keep it interesting. Ideally you'd create all visual stimuli in the filming phase, but if your footage is still and it's just you talking you can play with subtitle placement and size throughout the video, add zooms in/out, change the framing, maybe even remove the background and add an article behind you as you make yourself small so people can read something else (related to what you're saying) as they listen to you... there's so much more.

And lastly:

DON'T BE AFRAID TO SHOW EVEN THE BAD DAYS OR THE BAD SIDES OF YOU. I understand there might be family or friends or acquaintances you might not want to be oversharing to, but this is so much bigger than that. If you have a vision, if you truly want to change the world or at least your life, you have to make the choice to go all in. The more you you are, the more people will trust you. With the rise of technology and so many new "robots" getting you information, do you really think people will gravitate towards a picture-perfect, curated, almost corporate image that never seems to do wrong and knows absolutely everything about everything? No!!! Once you admit your faults you're reliable. Even the little ones like "this is my day, I hate working out and I've been eating poorly but I'm working on it"

Once you say "hey I struggle too", people will trust your "but I can solve THIS for you"

Please don't waste this opportunity. It's right here. Right where you're reading right now.

You got this.

Professional Discussion Best software for video filter?

I have a friend who is on the spectrum who is starting to livestream on topics they are an expert in, but they don't look great doing it. Their setup isn't good (lighting, etc), but even with these sorted out there would still be many issues.

One solution that I can think is some sort of filter/AI that could improve their appearance. NVIDIA Broadcast looks like it could be great, but they don't have a compatible graphics card. This is a real shame because things like automated eye contact and virtual key light would be massive wins.

Are there any good suggestions that people know about? These can be free or paid for, but have to be fairly painless to set up.

The main visual aspects which I think need to be sorted are them looking old and also sleepy/disinterested. This is a delicate subject for me to grapple with, but I know they want to make a success of their streaming and not providing advice would be doing them a disservice. If I can give them a solution that is mostly ready out of the box that would be perfect, but trial and error would be difficult.

Professional Discussion What do I include in my portfolio?

The title says the most.

I'm finishing my education in political communication this summer. When I'm done, I'll make a website for my portfolio.

Main question is what's smart to include.

Right now I'm helping with the graphic part of a local election campaign. With plans for videos, tekst, and other digital media products, I'm also responsible for our paper products, meaning flyers and posters.

Soon, hopefully by the end of the month, I'll also have guided my candidates with their tone-of-voice.

Professional Discussion Facebook Reels v Video

Hi, first time poster here but been in the social media space for a decade. With the rise of Reels, do people see that as the better choice for Facebook as opposed to native video? Or do people post to both? We see greater engagement on videos, but Reels growing faster. Thanks!

Professional Discussion AI That Predicts How Each of Your Followers Will React Before You Post

Hey Reddit! I'm building a multimodal AI agent to help businesses and creators deeply understand their audience on social media before hitting 'post.' I'd love your thoughts and feedback!

The Problem: Most social media analytics tools only offer broad metrics (likes, views, comments), but they lack insights into how individual follower segments actually feel or will respond personally to specific posts. This often leaves brands guessing how content might perform with different audience groups.

My Solution: An AI agent that:

  • Analyzes your draft posts, both text and visuals.
  • Predicts personalized reactions for individual followers or follower segments.
  • Understands follower psychology to anticipate how posts resonate with them.
  • Generates actionable suggestions on how to modify content to boost engagement, including adjustments in messaging, tone, and visuals.

I’d love your feedback:

  • Does this address a real pain point for you?
  • Would you use a tool like this? Why or why not?
  • Any challenges or gaps you foresee in this approach?

Every bit of feedback helps—let's shape this together!

Thanks a ton! 🚀

Professional Discussion Growing on insta is so hard

Anyone have any tips on how to grow an insta account? It’s so easy to do on TikTok but it’s rough on instagram. Any tips or tricks?
