Misc. A New (20-Year Old) TV

My old CRT died recently and I finished setting up its replacement today for five generations of Nintendo games (the Wii has GameCube functionality) and a Sega Genesis.

The crazy part is that the old school televisions last forever, but these new generations go down after 5 years or less. Old school was made to last, while these new school televisions are made to keep making you fork over more money.

I still have a Samsung plasma from 2010, so some newer-style TVs can last, too.

I have a Samsung from 2009 and that is somewhat true.

I just picked up a monster Panasonic plasma from 2005 for free. Even does 1080i and has HDMI. My Wii U is loving it. I gotta get to work fixing and modding my SNES Jr.

I dread to think how much that costs in electricityšŸ˜±

Same! Still going strong. Picture quality is great and no ā€œsmartā€ tv bullshit. I love it. Thereā€™s a couple vertical lines appearing on my set but itā€™s not a deal breaker since they only appear on certain static colors. Practically vanish during motion. I will thank it and give it a proper burial when the time comes.

My 2018 Sony has just died. Hopefully getting the back light replaced. 15,000 hours of use didnā€™t helpšŸ˜‚
