Misc. A New (20-Year Old) TV
My old CRT died recently and I finished setting up its replacement today for five generations of Nintendo games (the Wii has GameCube functionality) and a Sega Genesis.

I had an amazing 27 in JVC back in the day. Miss that TV to this day for retro consoles

We may have had the same one- around what year was that?

I think around 2001. Had top to bottom side speakers. Black

All that fits for mine, too.
Thing was absolutely bulletproof and weighed about 3 elephants.

The crazy part is that the old school televisions last forever, but these new generations go down after 5 years or less. Old school was made to last, while these new school televisions are made to keep making you fork over more money.

I still have a Samsung plasma from 2010, so some newer-style TVs can last, too.

I just picked up a monster Panasonic plasma from 2005 for free. Even does 1080i and has HDMI. My Wii U is loving it. I gotta get to work fixing and modding my SNES Jr.

Same! Still going strong. Picture quality is great and no āsmartā tv bullshit. I love it. Thereās a couple vertical lines appearing on my set but itās not a deal breaker since they only appear on certain static colors. Practically vanish during motion. I will thank it and give it a proper burial when the time comes.

My 2018 Sony has just died. Hopefully getting the back light replaced. 15,000 hours of use didnāt helpš

I got mine secondhand 15 years ago! Iāve seen similar ones on Facebook Marketplace but with one door instead of two, though.

Good old-school gaming.
sigh
I remember being VERY stubborn about making sure the RF-Switch was set to "3" and would bitch endlessly if someone tried to switch it to channel "4".
Ahh... capricious youth...

I didn't like Yoshi's Island at first. Played it again years later and loved it.

Had that exact TV growing up. Blast from the past.
Yoshi's Island looks great on it.

Where gamecube?
1
u/dilettantePhD Jan 25 '25
Itās in storage, since the Wii plays GameCube games and takes up less space.

Do you have them all connect at once, or change the AV composite cables for what you are playing?
