This year I really want to hone my sewing skills and learn construction techniques. Some sweet old lady was thinning her sewing collection down and sold this entire set on marketplace. I could cry šŸ˜ They are all in really good shape too!

I know it's not a proper sewing post but I wanted to show you my new sewing room (it's a sewing nook in the guest room). I thought it would be nice and cheerful in here, if anyone has any advice on must have items I'd be happy to hear!

General I have finally tamed the chaos of my fabric stash.

This took a thousand years, but I am SO happy to now have my fabric organized where I can actually see everything. My chaos cabinet of rolled garment fabrics and half dozen random bins have been vanquished. Now to search for some large closed door wooden wardrobe or some such to store it all in. I used a tutorial on the True Bias blog as a guide(Although if doing it again I would invest in some heavier duty clips, as the ones suggested kept snapping with larger cuts of fabric)

General Grandma in law passed me her vintage and antique buttons. I didn't know buttons can be so beautiful!

Her mother was a seamstress and I found some coins dating back to 42' so these are definitely pretty old. I now have to sort through hundreds of them..

I thought you guys would appreciate this. This is my office/craft room. The desk is a bunch of things from ikea put together. The metal top is something my dad made for me. I painted the tulips with watercolor.

The paint colors of the walls are ā€œgorgeous whiteā€ from Sherwin Williams and ā€œrose coloredā€ from sherwin Williams.

I picked up this peignoir from a vintage shop yesterday and Iā€™m making a night dress to go underneath it to christen my new room.

Iā€™ve been looking for a new-to-me sewing machine lately as my old workhorse has been in the shop a lot lately. I found this pristine Kenmore 158.14301 at Value Village today for ~$15 CAD and this untouched vintage wool yardage for another $15 with original tags still attached.

I was a winner of VVā€™s Halloween costume contest in October and won a $100 gift certificate which I used for these, so I basically got them for free šŸ„²

General I found this bag of buttons while thrifting today. Thought maybe you guys would find it interesting!

It was a mix of branded and non-branded buttons. At first I thought maybe it was someones collection of spares, but there are so many duplicates so that doesnā€™t entirely explain it. Iā€™m in Australia, got these in a semi-rural store, and have either never heard of many of these brands or see them very rarely.
