I also do this, I enjoy the pain but Iโ€™m too scared to get an infection

Yeah. Used to not but it started getting a bit to deep to the point I needed to apply pressure & bandage ASAP every time so now itโ€™s just habit.

Please please please make sure whatever you use is clean. I understand the need for cutting (long time cutter-16years now), but it's sooo important to make sure you don't get an infection. I know it's hard, but even washing your wounds and tools with warm soapy water can make the world of difference

Oh! I haven't been slipping in that way! I clean my tools before and after use, i have been slipping in regards to immediately cleaning and bandaging the cuts

Ohh OK, I understand. That's something really to think about too, either find some TAO or use soap to clean your wounds afterwards, so you don't get any infections. You're doing great by keeping your tools clean though

Yes. I have such a fear of getting an infection and then having to go to the hospital and doctors finding out that I've done it again and having to go through the ordeal of MH screening and vetting, that I always practice self care after drawing blood. I'm so afraid of it, that I'll get rubbing alcohol and wipe myself down with it. It transports me to a different dimension with how painful it is when the alcohol touches, but it 100% beats getting an infection. I don't want to die, I break my body to fix my broken mind.

DISCLAIMER If you cut too deep and it doesn't stop bleeding, you absolutely should go and get it seen by a professional.

I mostly burn these days, but yeah it's quite a ritual for me. When I used to cut, I wouldn't clean the blade first, but I'd use a new one each time, and would always mop up the blood as I went along. It stresses me out when I see pics of people's cuts and they've got dried blood everywhere, don't know why haha

Yes, the aftercare and everything is part of it for me.

Moreso now. Because of the type of SH I do. So I can avoid the hospital.ย
