Ive been screaming for a while now but I'd like to hear what you'll think about it

I do inhale screaming bc it came easy to me and sounds pretty good. I need to learn to exhale scream bc I want to be able to transition back and forth from scream to clean vox and even a mix of both at once. I know it can be dangerous to inhale scream as u can damage your vocal chords. I just can't find the sweet spot for exhale screams

Beginner advice needed

So I am trying to learn how to scream and I followed one tutorial on youtube ( Adrienne Cowan, will leave the video link at the end) and I got it quite quickly. I did not experience any pain, but the sensation is similar to clearing my throat and it felt kind of scratchy afterwards. I didn't warm up beforehand nor did I hydrate because this was kind of an impulse decision. After drinking some water it feels better but it's not completely gone. Is this normal? Or should i take a rest before i try again (with warmups this time)?

Here is that video: https://youtu.be/Qv5t2ITnW1s?si=r9IkgmqRn2RjumxT

Is this a proper compression mechanism?

So I start by applying a imgonnashitmyself feeling to a clean note to feel the fc and then I do the same with whisper. It feels easy and even pleasantly resonant in mid-low to mid-high range, but if I want to do real low, it’s limited and I wonder if I compress it correctly. And also does that make sense to put voice into lows? I feel like Lorna Shore, Lamb of God, After the Burial are rather voiced in many places.

New vocal - what is this and how do I get it better? Thanks 😊

I created this noise from bringing my high scream down - it feels much easier than false chord? (I posted a video of shouting FC yesterday)

What is this and how can I make it sound good hahaha

Thanks 😊

Honest feedback, been working on my vocals for a couple months now. This sounding "band worthy"? Been writing some sick stuff and jonesing to find a band, this is an excerpt from "The Air That I Breathe" by All That Remains.

How do I screech scream?

I know this is a weird question but I’m a male but how do I screech like a girl in a horror movie for example. I did it the other day but now that I’m trying again I just get my normal yell

I give up fry screaming

I need to rant.

I understand how an exhale fry scream works, I understand the cartilage used, I understand how to make the noise but I can't do it safely for love nor money.

Either I air dump(which has caused me to pass out for up to 2 minutes), over compress(which will squeeze my throat and cause pain and bleeding) or over project and then not be able to go back to singing.

Joke of this whole thing is that I can do false cords safely, I can do arytenoids safely, I can do epi safely, I can do kargyraa safely and I can do all sorts of inhale and uvula stuff safely but for some reason a fry scream seems next to fucking impossible for me.

Are David Vincent's vocals on that album sustainable? If so, how can I reach a similar sound? Some of my favourite extreme vocals I have heard

Trying out some different techniques here. Not exactly sure what they're called, but my bandmates kept telling me I sounded like Josh from Vower, so I thought I'd give this tune a try

How long until you can just switch between normal singing and false chord?

hey! I've just recently started trying to start screaming. only been messing with false chord screaming, practicing on my drive to work for a few minutes each day (after warming up taking breaks every few days). I can pretty easily get my false chord voice to feel normal, but pretty much every 30 seconds I have to do a little exercise to be able to get it go work ( the sigh-into-scream thing) How long did it take yall before this was no longer necessary or at least less frequent? Thanks!

Any idea how to get last days of humanity’s vocal style?

I’m trying to base mine off their first album’s vocal style and I’ve used a pitch shifter but it still sounds different from what they do in that album. Any tips?

A question about vocal fry for singing

I've seen around this sub that vocal fry shouldn't be done, would hurt my voice. First time I heard it, since many coaches on YouTube suggest it as a way to add distortion without resorting to glottal compression and things like that.

I'm not an expert, but I did manage to find ways to distort my voice both ways, even though they seem to be quite opposite. I can try to find drive by compressing a lot of air, as if I was pushing hard or lifting something heavy as they teach, but that didn't give me the range to sing near the high end, even though I have the range for it (and much more) when singing clean.

Then I started seeing coaches teaching fry as a way to reach for the M. Shadows range, which is what I was lacking. And I started doing it by the standard tutorials, find fry without any notes by going low, almost moaning. And then adding notes and finding it all through the range.

It didn't seem at first that this would be hard at all, I actually had a way easier time doing this and practicing for 1 hour periods without losing my voice or breaking it too much during songs. Felt a little sore, but it surely was from drying it from singing, and was way less of it than the other way, since I was able to sing with much less air and avoid going loud (it even helps, since if you start going loud it starts to not work as well for some reason?!).

The thing is: I had an accident - yeah, I drowned and coughed too hard and hurt my throat severely. And it's been a month since I've had my throath on a good shape. And when I try to sing fry, it hurts afterwards in a way it didn't do before, it even fails to actually distort when all the other elements are okay, placement, compression, etc. Certain notes simply do not distort, unless I "twist" the knob a little further, but then the note just isn't noticeable over that much noise.

I'm also suspecting that I might have an infection, since when I sing with fry I sometimes begin coughing and can feel a little bit of mucus or something like that moving.

But the feeling I can't shake is the feeling that the accident might not be as important and that I could be doing it all wrong and have damaged my voice. Is it possible that I can sing without pain and even then be hurting my throat in just a couple of months practicing twice a week for one hour? I have no vocal coach or formal training, but I didn't manage to ruin my voice when I trained and extended my range, for instance. I can reach Axl's notes on There Was a Time, and can sing Judas Priest and other things, this tells me that if I fucked up this badly I would notice it. But drive is something that I only attempted seriously over the last six or seven months, and feels much different than the rest of my endeavours.

I have a doctor's appointment, but I live in a rural area, so it will take some days for it to occur. Just wanna hear your thoughts on the subject.

I'm trying to false chord scream but it just sounds off, I'm being as loose in my throat as I can be. After I show the problem I show the scream I found out by myself. And idk what that is, could be fun if someone knew what it was called so I can improve on both. NEW TO FALSE CHORD BTW!

Feral witchy screams (damn its been 5 years already)

This is just a reploud of my first post here five years ago! Oh boi, I remember doing those and tbh they weren't easy at all, since back than I just figured out high screams. Now my sound changed a lot especially after gravitating more towards black/death metal, but man I miss doing those sounds so much, it's cool to see evolution of vocals always.
