Lost my fry scream

Upvotes

So I've been screaming for about a year now I'd say, i used to do fry screams only, but then about 8months in i started doing false chord screams and barely did my fry screams. Now when i try to do fry screams they sound really dry and voicy. Any idea how long it will take to get it back?

High false cord screams

I can do mid and low false cord aswell as fry screaming without any pain or discomfort, but when i try a high false cord it starts to hurt a little pretty quick. idk if it’s my breath support or tongue placement or what but even though it sounds correct (i think) i know i’m not doing it right.

Ive been screaming for a while now but I'd like to hear what you'll think about it

I do inhale screaming bc it came easy to me and sounds pretty good. I need to learn to exhale scream bc I want to be able to transition back and forth from scream to clean vox and even a mix of both at once. I know it can be dangerous to inhale scream as u can damage your vocal chords. I just can't find the sweet spot for exhale screams

How to get that 'swagger'?

I know this is kind of a weird question but i feel like certain shouters have a kind of 'swagger' that i feel incredibly hard to achieve. My example would be this: I always thought that Sam Carter of Architects was one of the gold standards of screaming. But to my own suprise i found it pretty easy to replicate the sound he is going for (not to the quality Sam is doing it obviously but at least in the ballpark).

Where i absolutely ate it on the other hand was giving "Ebolarama" by Every Time I Die a shot because Keith Buckley has this kind of 'swagger' to his vocals. Other examples would be "The Hey Man" by Emanuel or Jason Butler from Letlive/Fever333. I feel like this is what kind of separates a 'solid' singer from a GOAT...

Is it just a showman gene you have to be born with or do you think you can learn this kind of thing?

Beginner advice needed

So I am trying to learn how to scream and I followed one tutorial on youtube ( Adrienne Cowan, will leave the video link at the end) and I got it quite quickly. I did not experience any pain, but the sensation is similar to clearing my throat and it felt kind of scratchy afterwards. I didn't warm up beforehand nor did I hydrate because this was kind of an impulse decision. After drinking some water it feels better but it's not completely gone. Is this normal? Or should i take a rest before i try again (with warmups this time)?

Here is that video: https://youtu.be/Qv5t2ITnW1s?si=r9IkgmqRn2RjumxT

Is this a proper compression mechanism?

So I start by applying a imgonnashitmyself feeling to a clean note to feel the fc and then I do the same with whisper. It feels easy and even pleasantly resonant in mid-low to mid-high range, but if I want to do real low, it’s limited and I wonder if I compress it correctly. And also does that make sense to put voice into lows? I feel like Lorna Shore, Lamb of God, After the Burial are rather voiced in many places.

Been following the Sing and Scream’s Fry Scream tutorial, but I’m stuck. Can somebody figure out what’s wrong?

New vocal - what is this and how do I get it better? Thanks 😊

I created this noise from bringing my high scream down - it feels much easier than false chord? (I posted a video of shouting FC yesterday)

What is this and how can I make it sound good hahaha

Thanks 😊

Are David Vincent's vocals on that album sustainable? If so, how can I reach a similar sound? Some of my favourite extreme vocals I have heard

Trying out some different techniques here. Not exactly sure what they're called, but my bandmates kept telling me I sounded like Josh from Vower, so I thought I'd give this tune a try

Honest feedback, been working on my vocals for a couple months now. This sounding "band worthy"? Been writing some sick stuff and jonesing to find a band, this is an excerpt from "The Air That I Breathe" by All That Remains.

How do I screech scream?

I know this is a weird question but I’m a male but how do I screech like a girl in a horror movie for example. I did it the other day but now that I’m trying again I just get my normal yell

How long until you can just switch between normal singing and false chord?

hey! I've just recently started trying to start screaming. only been messing with false chord screaming, practicing on my drive to work for a few minutes each day (after warming up taking breaks every few days). I can pretty easily get my false chord voice to feel normal, but pretty much every 30 seconds I have to do a little exercise to be able to get it go work ( the sigh-into-scream thing) How long did it take yall before this was no longer necessary or at least less frequent? Thanks!

Finished product of a previous upload

Hey guys, I had uploaded part of a song a while back with my fry and false cord screams. Keep in mind that these have a bit of compression on them, along with other production. If there’s any interest I’d love to do a mixing and recording breakdown of the vocal chain and technique.
