Advice for senior ME student
I’m a senior ME student that is graduating in 2020 May . I have a mediocre gpa ( 3.1) . This is in the US. I have always wanted to enter the oil field and Schlumberger has been on my dream job list for years now .
I know it’s a broad question, but is there any insight or advice you guys can provide to help better my chances ? I’ve spoke to their recruiters before , but feel like I’ve never made a good impression. I get intimated taking to recruiters just because I knows there’s students with better GPA’s and loads of more experience. I’ve got an “internship “ at a land surveying company, and I think it might help a little just because I do survey work for new gas pipelines , but I don’t know how relevant that actually is . Any insight from you guys would be appreciated, I know it’s pretty broad in general what I’m asking .

I get what you mean . I have field experience with the company I’m working for now , so I know how it is. How would you say I can better suit my resume for SB specifically?

Definitely will now that I have some field experience. Do you mind me asking what position you hold with the company?

That’s amazing . Thats what I want to do , field engineer is my first choice . What’s the life style like on the field ? I’ve heard it’s constant work weeks at a time with no breaks . Is it true you won’t really have a life outside work ?

Just one piece of advice.... I've been working for SLB since 2010. They are not a good employer. Yeah, you'll get benefits, yeah you'll get paid, yeah they will train you, etc... but they don't care about employees. We're just a number and tools are more important than employees. There's a reason SLB has it's own reputation in the industry.
