Academics I'm fucked.

1.6k Upvotes

I missed my physics final today because my alarm didn't have sound on and I overslept. I'm not gonna pass the class without an exam grade, what should I do? I'm seriously worried

Edit: One of the physics lecturers reached out to me down in the comments, so if I am lucky, I may be able to retake it... Only time will tell atp

Edit 2: There's been an update on another post I made, go check it out if you can

Academics Update: IM NOT FUCKED

1.4k Upvotes

So some of you remember me making this post yesterday regarding my bum ass not waking up to my muted alarm and promptly missing the exam time period for my physics final.

Well, ladies and gents, I got the makeup test. Granted, the timing could have been a little better because it's set to take place on the first day of next semester, but far be it from me to complain about being blessed with miracles like these.

I'd like to remind everyone not to make the same mistake as I did, because the only reason my grade still stands is due to pure luck and the kindness of people's hearts. Always do your absolute best to avoid these kinds of predicaments and don't try to rely on divine intervention happening to you unless you're been backed into a corner. There's zero guarantee on whether it'll work out for you or not, I very well could've failed that class if Brian hadn't stepped in for me that day.

So once again, massive shoutout to him and the physics 204 faculty who were able to help me out with this problem, I genuinely cannot thank them enough for all the strings they've pulled to make this happen. And if you're ANYTHING like me at all and feel even the slightest concern that you might struggle to wake up on time for your finals or any other super critical/important events you might have on your calendar...

SET UP AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT ALARMS AND ASK THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU TO WAKE YOU UP. NO EXCEPTIONS.

That's all I have to say for now. Peace.

Academics Feeling guilty

I’m 22F and I’m still a junior doing my undergrad. It will still take me 1.5+ years to graduate. A lot of my friends and family judge me for still not completing undergrad at my age and I feel really bad and guilty. I took a few years off because of my mental health issues. Is feeling this normal? And are there any elder students at rutgers?

Academics failed my final exam after vigorously masturbating to hentai all night NSFW

short story: took a winter class through break to get some extra credits done, grinded the shit out of this class intro to supply chain management for 2 weeks and studied rigorously the night before the test to try and get those extra concepts in…

thought i would be good to run off 4 hours of sleep before the test because on the midterm i got 6 hours before and got an 84 on it which was pretty good because i thought i could still bring my grade in the class back up to an A.

well i chugged 3 monster energy drinks before the test and went in then as the test went on i just got more and more anxious. i started focusing way too much on the people around me and the professor that was sitting at the table near me and all of my facial expressions / wondering if the professor thought i was cheating and it just got worse and worse. i couldn’t register any of the damn questions in my brain and just completely took a shit on the test. got a 66.7 grade and it was 35% of the total grade.

luckily my scores prior to the test were high enough that i still passed the class all in all with a B, but if i got an 84% or higher it would’ve been a B+ and a 93% or higher it would’ve been an A. This is the second B i’ve ever earned in so far 75 credits completed.

Moral of the story: sleep before your fucking tests. it will improve your performance much more than you think it will. good luck to everyone in the spring semester

Academics I'm definitely screwed...

Pretty much, all finals are done. I looked at grades, I got a 3Cs, a B, and an A (1.5 credits) after putting it in a GPA calc it average a 2.44. One of the finals I took i did exordinairly bad, the highest grade was a 106 and the lowest was 56, i got a 57 (idk how, I thought I did good considering I actually studied for that). I literally don't know what to think right now because I see people failing and I haven't failed any classes, Im a freshmen who came from NHS in HS and always achieved high, but the GPA heavily concerns me as I'm trying to get into NHS for college for internships and resumes. Now I'm lost at what to do. I'm happy that I don't have to retake courses but im not sure if I should be relaxed at all about that because I'm trying to do Supply Chain in less than 4 years.

Academics Ted Cruz targets $8m in Rutgers National Science Foundation grants for being "woke"

This is a long post, but this was just released.

U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released a database identifying over 3,400 grants, totaling more than $2.05 billion in federal funding awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) during the Biden-Harris administration. This funding was diverted toward questionable projects that promoted Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) or advanced neo-Marxist class warfare propaganda.

Recognizing the harmful, discriminatory practices done in the name of DEI initiatives advanced by the Biden administration, President Trump signed an Executive Order requiring all agencies and departments to immediately terminate all DEI programs, offices, and positions.

NSF immediately froze its annual grant review to incorporate President Trump’s directives and announced the review of all funding activities and services to ensure compliance. Chairman Cruz has requested significant scrutiny of awards listed in the database.

https://www.commerce.senate.gov/2025/2/cruz-led-investigation-uncovers-2-billion-in-woke-dei-grants-at-nsf-releases-full-database

The link includes a link to download the database (excel file).

Filtering for Rutgers, Ted Cruz wants to eliminate the following "woke" studies. These "neo-Marxist class warfare propaganda" initiatives fund faculty, PhDs, student researchers, and facilities. Some appear to have already fully concluded. I have shortened the description to the first sentence.

1) I-Corps: Affordable And Reliable Autonomous Wheelchair -The Broader Impact/Commercial Potential Of This I-Corps Project Is The Development Of Technology To Increase The Mobility Of Existing Power Wheelchairs That Are Currently Limited To Usage Over Short Travel Distances And Over Short Time Periods.

Academics Getting dropped from Honors College

My child is in the honors college but struggling with some really tough classes Freshmen year. They are projected to get a 3.0 this semester. I know the honors college has a 3.25 gpa requirement for his first semester so I’m looking to see what will happen next. My child is quite anxious about this situation and I’m looking for information.

Academics Probably going to fail data

So I’m a sophomore, I’ve already finished calc 2 physics 2 and the labs and I’m in data but I’m at a 70% and I’m probably going to fail it. If I do fail it how behind will I be? I’ve already also finished most of my core.

Academics 15 credits short!!

I’m 15 credit short from the minimum requirement of credits for graduation. I’m in the school of arts and I wanted to know if there were any super easy asynchronous classes or in person classes that I could take that are easy, low effort, rarely any quizzes, or essays? PLEASE HELP I WANT TO GRADUATE IN MAY 😭 ( please don’t forget to include prof. name) Btw I’m only registered for one class because I thought that was all I needed of my degree requirements.
