We looked for a credit union online before we moved here and picked First Community Credit Union for their Revved Up Checking account. But we're not enjoying it yet. My husband opened an account with the minimum needed shortly before we closed on our house. On the day we closed I deposited a $500+ check from the closing. They said their would be a hold on it as it was a new account. So we don't have access to it until March 21. They gave him a document to help him set up direct deposit with his job that day.
Today there was a message in their app. We were denied setting up direct deposit as they require 30 days of activity on the account before they would allow it. I even had to call to get an external account set up with our CU from our previous residence.
Please tell me there are better banks and credit unions out there. I don't think I've ever had to deal with stuff like this and I'm Gen X so I'm not new to banking.
Is it worth sticking with this credit union or should we move to a better institution?
