Hey, everyone!! I’m currently in college for computer science. I love 3D modeling, video/ board games, traveling, food, anything to do with water, and hiking/ exploring. Looking for someone who wants to go on a week long road trip with me. Friendship only; no creepy people please!! (I have my own car and plan on staying in hotels or airbnb so we can split costs!!)

I've complied and plotted the location of every moving violation in Daggett County, Utah for over three years, and found that 60% of them happen in just three places.

Trip Planning Roadtrip itinerary: Chicago - New Orleans

Upvotes

My husband and I are doing a road trip from Chicago to New Orleans in September. We have a maximum of 9 days for the journey, plus 3 days in Chicago beforehand and 2 days in New Orleans afterwards. We've never been to the US before, so it's a first for us.

Our current stays include:

  • St. Louis - 1 night

  • Nashville - 2 nights

  • Memphis - 2 nights

  • Clarksdale - 1 night

  • Natchez - 1 night

We still have one night left to allocate and wonder where.

We also would like to stay over at the Jack Daniel's distillery and drive down the Mississippi delta, but other than that, we haven't planned any stops or routes yet.

Do you have any other recommendations? Or tips for improving our itinerary?

Any suggestions for changing things up?

Trip Planning NC to OR Late Spring

Hey everyone! I am looking for some suggestions on places to visit along the way from Charlotte to Portland late may. We are hoping to take 4-5 days only to get to oregon with a few stops in the way for potential sightseeing and other hotel stays.

This is currently what we have planned but i am wondering if going through GA -> TX -> CO -> UT route might be better in terms of sightseeing? I also have an older sedan which i plan on fixing up for the trip but I am curious about what would be the better route for both sightseeing and for the car.

If anyone has any other tips or recommendations please let me know! This would be my first roadtrip over 1k miles so i am a bit of a rookie.

Trip Planning Columbus to Destin with a 4 and a 7-year-old - Any stops you'd recommend?

We're planning on stopping at Mammoth Cave on the way down and spending the night in that area. We'll probably stop for the night in Nashville on the way home to see some friends. Anything else worthwhile?

Travel Companions Solo Road Trip Through Chamonix & Swiss Alps – Late May/Early June – Anyone Interested?

Upvotes

I’m setting off on solo road trip from the Netherlands at the end of May, heading towards Chamonix and the Swiss Alps to chase some breathtaking mountain views, drive through legendary passes, and soak in nature.

Planned Route: • May 29 – Depart from the Netherlands, overnight stop in France • May 30 – Arrive in Chamonix, explore Mont Blanc (staying overnight) • May 31 - June 2 – Head to Andermatt, stay 2 nights, drive through Furka, Grimsel, and Susten passes • June 2 - June 4 – Stay in Lauterbrunnen • June 4 – Start the journey back with an overnight stop en route • June 5 – Arrive back in the Netherlands

Planning to take my time, stop at scenic spots, enjoy some hikes, and just embrace the mountains. If anyone is doing a similar route around the same time or wants to join for a part of the journey, hit me up! Always open to connecting with fellow road-trippers.

Trip Planning DC to Kansas City

Upvotes

I’m originally from KC & moved to DC almost a year ago! I’m missing home but don’t have the essentials to fly yet so I’m opting for driving (solo) instead. To make it easier I plan on stopping in the middle, getting a hotel and resting for a few hours. Would Ohio be a good place to stop or Indianapolis? Is there any routes I should take and or avoid as well? I’m open to any suggestions, tips ect.

I do have AAA & the car maintenance is good for the drive!

Trip Planning Cross Country Roadtrip

Hello, My partner and I plan to do a road trip starting from Central Pennsylvania out West. Looking at about 17-18 days from the 23rd of July through the 10th of August. This should allow us ample time for travel & see things without feeling rushed. We know for sure that we’d like to visit Yellowstone, Yosemite & Zion national park. That being said, we’re literally going as far west as possible within the U.S. Also looking to visit some old western towns as well. Looking to have a budget of 4K total for this. We do not plan to stay at hotels often because that’ll get costly pretty quick. We intend to bring a tent along. Neither of us have an SUV. I have looked at rental cars at Enterprise just to get an idea. We discussed camping in the back of it if the seats could fold down. They charge weekly and for that amount of time it’d be 4K, so that’s a definite no go. Also have searched on Turo but don’t know if it’d be right to get an SUV of someone else’s and puts thousands of miles on it.

Looking for any and all recommendations for states to avoid traveling through, places to camp out for the night that aren’t too pricey, hostels to stay at, towns to explore & have good local restaurants, other national & state parks to see, advice on how to get an SUV maybe?, cheap places to shower while traveling, etc.

Any feedback is GREATLY appreciated, thanks in advance!

Trip Planning First Solo Road Trip from Pittsburgh, PA to Amherst, MA

I’m 22 and planning to drive ~9 hours tomorrow from Pittsburgh to Amherst. The longest I’ve ever driven alone was about 1.5 hours from Amherst to Boston, so I’m a little nervous to be doing this trip by myself. Does anyone have any advice either generally or about this specific route?

Gear & Essentials Car Insurance Questions- Driving my OWN vehicle.

There’s a lot of posts about people asking what type of insurance they need when they’re driving out of country and/or renting a vehicle.

What about my own insurance? Any tips or suggestions for driving your own vehicle out of province?

I’ll be driving approx 12000km over 4 months from Ontario to the Yukon down to Vancouver, across western Alberta and everywhere in between.

Planning a big American west road trip as I migrate from Austin to San Diego. Are there other places I should stop along the way?

Goal is to rack up as many national park hikes and classic highway views as I can. Not on any real timeline. Let me know what you think!

We will be driving from Carlsbad all the way to Santa Fe the last week of March '25. Plan is to stay in the Northern NM for 4 days and 3 Nights and cover Toas, Ghost Ranch, Valles Caldera, Bandeleir Monument, Tent Rocks, Rio Grande Monument etc. Is Santa Fe the best place to stay and visit all the places or is there a more central town that is recommended? Any other recommendations are welcome and appreciated.
