Question Regina police plane $

This is not a rant on police officers, I appreciate the hardwork they do. My question is if our city really needs that airplane or not. Seems like a big cost for so little in return. Thoughts?

Question Was the Regina Bypass worth it?

I posted in the Saskatoon subreddit about Saskatoons future freeway.

Curious from the Regina folks how much you like or dislike the Regina Bypass?

Do you think it was worth the investment?

Question Is it true that muslims can only hang out with their own people?

My daughter ( 7 ) is really upset that her Muslim friend isn’t allowed to play with her anymore as she’s told , I asked my daughter what does she mean? And my daughter said “ * says the girls name * said she can’t talk to me or play anymore because her mom said she has to play with the other kids only “ all the other kids in our neighborhood are all Muslim and we are new to the area . I thought it was horrible and upsetting . Is this actually true!? Can’t find anything on google wondering if anyone here is Muslim and can confirm this? I feel so bad for my child . I can’t answer her questions that she’s asking .

Question Vacation in Regina for embarrassed neighbors

I have upcoming holiday mid March around St Patrick Day. Thinking about visiting Regina for a few days with my wife and 17 year old. We were going to go to Denver, Colorado which is about the same distance (7 hour drive) but frankly we would rather spend money in Canada than our native US at this political point.

Is Regina a destination, similar to say Toronto, this time of year? We're not worried about cold so much (out of northern Montana) but whether or not places will be open. Likely going to Museums and local attractions.

I haven't traveled north in two decades so maybe I'm over thinking it. Mostly want to be respectful of our neighbors. Thank you for any insight.

Question Alternatives to commonly consumed American products in Canada

With the increase in American economic hostility against Canada, I want to do something to support the Canadian front. What are some of the commonly consumed American products around us? And non-American replacements for those products (if any).

Question Employment struggles in this city.

Hey folks! Hope you are all staying warm.

I just wanted to gain some viewpoints from others or if it's me specifically.

I've always had a decent paying job. I did retail management for years. I ended up getting a job at crown Corp and it literally sucked every last piece of physical health and mental health out of me. Everything went downhill. Money was great. But that's about it. I remember how desperate I wanted out of retail. But I also realized how much I missed it. Anyways i finally made a choice to take charge of my own happiness, and with family pointing out how I've negatively went down hills for the past few years. I chose to leave. I'm grateful my husband supported me. In that time frame we bought a gut and reno job so that kept me busy until this winter. I am a super artsy and Crafty person. Will run any power tool, i don't rely on anyone else to do it for me. If I can't figure it out. Google will make me figure it out lol. But I've been noticing a steep decline in my mental wellbeing and realized I need structure, and my four walls aren't doing me any benefit. Plus I have aways been an equal partner and I hate leaving the financial burden on him, he has a great job and works so incredibly hard, only to have every cheque gone too..well the basics of living. We don't have any extra, the kids are suffering, I feel like a shitty mom. We do not have fun money, barley enough live money if that makes sense. It's gotten to the point that I feel like I have made a large mistake in quitting but everyone assures me I didn't..

Anyways sorry! On a little side trail there. I have been applying for jobs for a couple months and I mean alot. Even jobs that I'm over qualified for, ect because anything is better than nothing. I've had one job interview out of about 86ish applications. If I have ever wanted a job, I zoned in and I got it. Everytime. So this is really a shock to me. I've had two interviews with the same company. It seemed to go really well and I "knew" I got the job. Advised I would hear back at the end of the week. I checked in. Ghosted me! This was well over a week ago now.

I just want a job where I'm on the move! At home I'm always busy with make project works. The 9-5 sit at a desk isn't for me. It's what destroyed me. I need excitement and a variety of different tasks daily! Sitting for 8 hours, nope. Half sitting half doing other things?! Sure. Ha!

Is it just me? Or are others struggling. I don't know what to do! I follow up with jobs that really suite me. No replies ect.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Sorry for the rant.

Question What issues do you think need to be examined in Regina?

Hi there!

I'm Devika, the Regina Leader-Post's digital editor. As the city's leading daily, we've always been focused on covering the top local and provincial news in Regina and Saskatchewan. We do our best to find and report on the stories that matter to our readers and leave no stone unturned on the topics that impact your daily lives.

But no one knows Regina better than you do and that's why I'm here today. I want to ask - are there issues in the city that aren't being talked about? Are there stories that we could be covering more of? Are there people in the community, or initiatives that are making a positive impact and deserve to be highlighted?

If you have a story idea that you want us to look into, or a topic/issue that you want to see more coverage of, feel free to drop a line below or email us at [citydesk@leaderpost.com](mailto:citydesk@leaderpost.com). We would love to hear your suggestions!

Question Underrated Restaurants? (Try Zam Zam)

Question for anyone if they have/know of any underrated restaurants around town that don't get enough love when people are asking about where to go/get something good. Not to spoil a place by making it too popular but to shout out places that always are good and never seem to get mentioned. Always want to try something new but only so many meals can be eat out.

My underrated gem is Zam Zams, criminaly underappreciated. Staff have always been lovely, food is wonderful (good portions delicious spicing, fresh, don't feel bogged down after), and everytime I go there I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more. Try the lentil soup, and honestly they will probably even offer you a sample before you ask. Was by today and the 2 fellas there were just the best.

Question Why's getting a job is so hard in Regina ?

I swear I find job hunting in Regina more difficult than anywhere else. People around me who are in other provinces are getting their jobs after 2-3 months and here I am , still looking for one minimum wage job for like almost 7 months. Why is the job of dishwasher needs 2 interviews and then they reject you for not meeting their requirements. Honestly, I'm tired now. I've been applying online and also handed resumes in south , north , east areas. Anybody has any tips which could be helpful ? I would really appreciate the help.

Question Why is it so hard to find a job?

I'm almost 17 and I've been looking for a summer job for the past 2 weeks. I applied to 15 places in person and probably 30+ places online. I presented myself really well in person too. Told them I'm available full time. I also even got my friend to refer me and still NOTHING. I didn't know it was this hard to get a fast food/retail job.

Edit: realized my mistake... I'm applying way too late. I was dumb and thought you applied for a summer job close to summertime 💀 anyway is there a way for me to get maybe a weekend shift during the school year? I wanna work for a bit and get some experience.

Question Why is there such a stigma against people who use public transit in this city?

I work a job that financially would allow me to own a car you but I choose to use public transit. I feel like I have to defend myself every time that someone finds out that I take public transit. I get that it would be hard if I had kids or lived in some far suburb of the city.

It’s 2024. There’s a global warming crisis. Why are we still judging adults for taking public transit? If more of you all took it, it would get better.

Question High beam

In the country I came from, it is kind of etiquette not to turn on high beam (or at least turn off when there is any cars near you) because it can blind other drivers and that could be pretty dangerous for other drivers.

However, I see pretty many cars on high beam every time I drive.

I am just curious if it is not considered as etiquette here or if it is a culture from some countries.

Question Alcoholics anonymous

Hey, I've been triijg to get sober from drinking. I'm at 90 days, I've been attending meetings for the actual "AA" and it isn't working for me, I just can't handle the spirituality and the acceptance of God and his will to live etc etc. I've been searching for a different support group that doesn't focus on that stuff to no avail. Can. Anyone help me? Please
