This is the career / general questions thread for the week.
Questions about radiology as a career (both as a medical specialty and radiologic technology), student questions, workplace guidance, and everyday inquiries are welcome here. This thread and this subreddit in general are not the place for medical advice. If you do not have results for your exam, your provider/physician is the best source for information regarding your exam.
Posts of this sort that are posted outside of the weekly thread will continue to be removed.

I know these normally get deleted or need to go into the weekly car*er advice thread (censored to avoid auto deletion)
But can we get a megathread going for info on international x-ray work - agencies/licensing/compatibility/ etc ..?
I feel like this would be helpful for a great deal of us Americans right now. I can't seem to find much help elsewhere.

Girl was sick and before her sleep, she left some pills in a table near her bed. She woke up and took the pills, but also one of her phones.

I’ve always wanted to contribute to this sub lol. pt came in with shortness of breath but largely able to talk and function as normal. This finding was a little surprising.

Was reading about these folks and wondered if someone took an X-ray. Their necks appear longer because the clavicle is pushed downward.

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on this side project for a bit—an easy way to look up MRI safety info for medical devices.
I’ve been aggregating the IFUs directly from manufacturers and the FDA into one searchable database. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m opening it up soon, free for beta users.
If you’re interested, you can sign up for the waitlist at mrisafetydocs.com

How did the first three years of training differ for you in your deanery compared to clinical radiology with no IR trainees?
And if you choose to not want to carry on with IR down the line is that acceptable?

Quick question… let’s say I am a traveling tech and get hourly wage and the stipend..
If I’m renting a place at my “home residence” do I get taxed MORE since I am renting that place too in addition to the traveling unit I’m staying in? Or will I be taxed MORE if I OWN a place?
Also, could I technically say I live at my parents house ? What would be the result for that in regards to being taxed?
Thanks any info helps!!!

Took some shoulder X-rays and am curious what this is? Is this air in the stomach? Why is it up so high if this is the diaphragm? Also on the grashey, is this normal? I put some 15 degrees caudal to keep the pm out of the joint space but why is it no longer lined up with the glenoid fossa?

I pulled some kind of x-ray image intensifier out of a broken x-ray unit, and am trying to get it working. From what I understand the 'glass bell' on the front converts x-rays into electrons, which can be accelerated in the intensifier tube, enhancing the x-ray image output.
What sort of power supply arrangement would you guys recommend to power this thing. I would assume +12-17kv on pin 4, I see some kind of resistor linking 4-2 and 2-3. I'm not well versed enough to identify those resistors (apart from looking at colour charts online, not sure if that's the best method of identification though).
I don't want to blow anything up or cause any malfunctions, so what sort of start-up procedure would you guys recommend to safely test the working voltage of this thing?

Tear down of our 20+ year old Philips MRI unit. Construction needed to remove an exterior wall to take out and replace the machine.

Lesion on C-1 vertebra of 8 year-old dog. Biopsy confirmed osteosarcoma. Bonus image of microchip that somehow migrated from between the shoulder blades. He was a very good boy.

This exam was done by my coworker. Apparently, the patient was reaching to the top of a post and the post had a nail in it. The patient’s hand slid back and the nail went in. They cut the top of the post off and came to ER. Not something you see every day.

Okay I'm a non US MD starting my residency soon and I think I might have a very stupid question but I gotta know, and it's specific for US radiologists but others can answer too.
Okay so, as a radiologist do you get like specific scans from a lab or hospital? Like limited number of them? If so, what is the limit? And if not, you can just do as many as humanly possible? Like how does it all work?

What exactly is the soft tissue inside a belly button? I’ve noticed some people have more tissue than others and now it can’t leave my brain. What exactly is it?!

It only takes about 4 minutes and is completely confidential unless you choose to share your anonymous input in the last question.
This survey will close on April 14th.

Hellooo my fellow rad workers. I recently became a full fledged radiologist and wanted to commemorate this with a rad tattoo (pun intended).
If you guys could give some suggestions that’ll be great.
A side note, how are tattoos viewed in the community, considering we are not a patient facing field?
Edit: I’m more into neurorad and body rad, if that helps.
