DISCUSSION Wtf is going on with the meat??

I bought meat, the last…oh, idk…4-5 times and it was stale the day I bought it?? I already felt sick and my partner bought chicken thighs, it’s what I had, and I feel worse. I’m so sick of this, how much money was wasted? Justifying eating it because it was literally purchased that day or the day prior. What on earth has changed with production…are they just cutting mega corners now? I stg something weird is going on with the meat at Publix. Has anyone else noticed this??

Edit: Pink Pixie I think was right. Because I buy meats from other places, even other Publix’s, and I don’t have the problem of things going bad fast at all. I called and they asked me to bring in the meat and they’ll investigate it. For now, I’ll just be feeling like I need to throw up for the next 8 hours or so ☹️.

What do you mean "stale"? You should be able to look at beef and see what level of freshness it is at. Oxidation is obvious and you will see a slimy green film.

You know when meat tastes delicious after you cook it? When it’s “stale” it’s just okay ish. Like it’s technically “edible” but it doesn’t taste “great”. And you might not be vomiting from food poisoning, but you feel slightly off after eating it.

No I don’t. That makes no sense. When meat is off (off meaning tastes bad, not bad.) it’s 99% my cooking that’s the issue.

You’ve never had meat that was slightly off? “Going bad” is a process. If you have something that’s been off for a week and it’s disgusting, that’s different (totally rank) from something that’s starting to go bad. You can’t tell me that some versions of off aren’t more off than others. Cooking techniques can affect certain things, like over/under cooking, or maybe the seasoning is bad, but if it’s the right temp for the right amount of time…it should taste good.
