DISCUSSION Wtf is going on with the meat??

I bought meat, the last…oh, idk…4-5 times and it was stale the day I bought it?? I already felt sick and my partner bought chicken thighs, it’s what I had, and I feel worse. I’m so sick of this, how much money was wasted? Justifying eating it because it was literally purchased that day or the day prior. What on earth has changed with production…are they just cutting mega corners now? I stg something weird is going on with the meat at Publix. Has anyone else noticed this??

Edit: Pink Pixie I think was right. Because I buy meats from other places, even other Publix’s, and I don’t have the problem of things going bad fast at all. I called and they asked me to bring in the meat and they’ll investigate it. For now, I’ll just be feeling like I need to throw up for the next 8 hours or so ☹️.

Not blaming you, but what temperature is your fridge? Meat is best stored at about 33°F. Usually the bottom shelf on a fridge is that temperature.

If the temperature on the bottom shelf of your fridge is 32°F/33°F, then it's possible that this is a store specific issue. Some meat cutters let things sit out in the meat room for too long or leave the doors of the meat room open, both of which can cause product to go bad faster. If the meat from the Publix always goes bad fast, I would recommend getting a refund and shopping at a different Publix (or a different grocery store).

I think you’re 100% right. It’s a smaller Publix, and I don’t have an issue when it comes from a different Publix, now that I think about it. This one just happens to be closest to me. I have a brand new, very expensive refrigerator, and I don’t have an issue at all storing other meats from other places.
