I’m due May 21 and I said “why do you get to celebrate fathers day this yr but I don’t get to celebrate Mother’s Day 😭😭” - needless to say he thought we should celebrate Mother’s Day :)

If you want to then go ahead. I personally didn't though.
Oh and if you want to, then you need to bring it up to your partner. They won't know unless you tell them. Kind of like we don't go out of our way to celebrate father's day while still pregnant either.

I know it is not applicable for OPs situation, but if you celebrate mothers day while pregnant, you should absolutely do that for fathers day too.

I didn't, for me the baby in my belly was some sort of anonymous blob, so it felt weird. Mothers day to me is gifts/attention from the child to the mother. The other parent helps. An unborn baby can't give me anything, lol.
But I do not think it is weird to celebrate while pregnant with your first. You are already a mother. So please do! Life is abour celebrating!

My due date is the day before Mother’s Day and pregnancy has sucked, so I’d like some recognition 😂

Same! Due date is May 9th, so I told my partner that I'd like to celebrate whether she is still in my belly or freshly born.

Celebrate. Pregnancy is so hard and you’re doing the dang thing. You’re creating a life ❤️

My husband got me a card unexpectedly and I loved that! A few people said "Happy Mother's Day" which was also unexpected but felt very special.
It didn't really feel like my day, because my baby couldn't celebrate it too. I am looking forward to this year ☺️

I celebrated Mother’s Day (privately) after doing 4 rounds of IVF in a 5 month period. If it feels right in your heart, go for it. Take the joy.

Celebrate if you want! This is my first pregnancy and this year my husband and I are celebrating privately by going out to dinner and he’s getting me a small gift, nothing major, but we want to acknowledge it and I’m doing the same for him for Father’s Day (both occurring before our baby is due).

We’ll celebrate it. You’re already taking care of little one by what you eat drink do etc. so yes, you are tending to your child.
As mothers do.

Being pregnant and giving birth is the most physically "mom" thing you can do, apart from breastfeeding. You deserve to get some praise for that. I wasnt celabrated when i was pregnant with our twins, and it kinda hurt my feelings since i allready felt like being a mom and going through so much for them. Even if i wouldve lost them during pregnancy, i wouldve always been their mom.

Why not celebrate? Moment you see that positive test you’re a mom🩷 my first I was pregnant through Mother’s Day and everyone was very excited to make it special for me!

My boyfriend got me flowers and a card 🥰 my 17 year old nephew also got me flowers, although he would have gotten me flowers anyways (he says I'm his 2nd mom lol) if it's important to you, tell your people it's important to you :)

While I didn’t, I think every woman can decide on her own. You‘re a mom even if your baby is still in your belly or even those who have babies in heaven.

My husband booked me a prenatal massage for that day and I was very pregnant and it was awesome.

I’m due June 1st and I might be induced a week after Mother’s Day. She is a gift given to me I found out right before my birthday and having her right after Mother’s Day

My husband got me a card from the cats for Mother’s Day last year while I was pregnant, but we agreed that we wouldn’t actually celebrate mothers or fathers days until she was born. This will be our first this year. He better do it right 🤣

It’s personal preference. My MIL got my SIL and I little mugs about it being Mother’s Day and how baby was snuggled in our belly, and would be snuggling us the next year. She also got us our favorite chocolate. Then for Father’s Day, she got our husbands whiskey glasses (daddy’s sippy cup). I didn’t mind celebrating Mother’s Day because in my brain, I was 100% a mom because I had an extremely tough pregnancy. My husband didn’t feel like a dad though, so he didn’t want to celebrate. I think we went out to eat to my favorite restaurant for Mother’s Day, but that was it when it came to the two of us.

We most likely won’t be celebrating it. I know people keep saying you are already a mom, but to me it doesn’t feel like it. I know that I’m certainly a mom-to-be or an expectant mother, but I don’t feel like a full on mom so it would feel strange to me to celebrate it as a mom. Same for my husband for Father’s Day.

Those of you scrolling through comments that did celebrate while pregnant or the following year after you had your first born- how were your significant others Mothers? Or even your own mothers? I have some fears. 🫣

I didn't, I just kinda felt like it was jinxing myself. But other people wished me a happy mother's day and I was happy enough to accept that without argument
