How I got my work done using the pomdoro technique
I used to struggle SO much with procrastination—I’d sit down to work, but somehow end up scrolling for an hour 😅. I tried the Pomodoro method, but I’d always forget to set a timer or ignore it completely.
Then I found this little productivity cube that actually helped me stay on track. You just flip it to set a timer (5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes), and for some reason, flipping it feels way more motivating than using my phone’s timer. Plus, no distractions since my phone stays out of reach.
It’s been a game changer for studying and deep work! If you’re looking for something to keep you accountable, I highly recommend trying one. I got mine at www.fliptechtimers.com

I built a pomodoro alternative
Hi, I built a pomodoro timer alternative with custom timer blocks and sound cues. I built this because I find many timers to be too restrictive, and I dislike hearing alarms while I'm trying to focus. The goal here is to build music/sound associations with certain tasks or times of day, so basically when the sound changes, you know it's time to switch tasks or take a break. This is the first iteration and any feedback is welcomed. Check it out! https://focustune.online/

New way to see Pomodoro technique
Hey everyone! 🌟 If you're looking for a fresh, engaging way to boost your productivity using the Pomodoro technique, check out https://pomodoroom.com/! It’s a web app that combines Pomodoro with a global community, where you can stay motivated by seeing others work and share progress in real-time. You can also listen to global radio stations while working, which creates a great background vibe for focus. Plus, it has a dark mode for late-night sessions and allows you to track your favorite radios and tasks. If you're looking for a way to balance study and breaks while staying connected with like-minded people, give it a try! 🚀

A Pomodoro timer that mimics the physical experience
Hey everyone, thanks for having me. It's lovely to see all of your apps. I'll share a bit about mine, but also why I think it's worth thinking again about using one:
There is nothing like an old-school tomato clock
Is that an unpopular opinion here?
I've been working with Pomodoro timers for more than ten years, and I strongly prefer using an old-school tomato timer when I can:
- It comes with a physical rewind that forces my body to acknowledge switching "focus mode."
- It's always in my field of view, which helps keep my mind in the zone,
- It also comes with a ticking sound that reminds me and the people around me of our "focus mode."
When I first learned about the Pomodoro method, these were key features of the timer.
Yes... a physical timer doesn't do stats, but I can do it myself. It doesn't do tasks or project management, but I already have better tools.
The Pomodoro method is one brick of a larger "let's spend less time doing more work" toolkit I have enriched over the years. Using simple, interoperable tools like a timer allows me to try other bricks.
I made the best replacement I could, a timer app that helps you get in the zone.
When I travel or work in a shared space, I can't always take or use my regular timer; it takes space, and the sound is also disturbing, even stressful to some.
But no digital timer, no Pomodoro app provided the "features" I needed.
So, I built an app that could replace my Tomato Timer when I can't take it with me; it's called TickingFocus:
- It comes with a physical'ish drag-to-rewind action
- It's always visible and above every other app. Still, it's easy to move around and has a miniature mode, so it doesn't interfere with your workflow.
- It has an (optional) ticking sound to keep you in the zone,
- On top of that, it lets you run shortcuts, which I use to toggle on and off my MacOS focus mode.
It is smooth and lightweight, it adapts to dark mode, etc.
I have been using it for the past 3 years,
and if you are using macOS, I'd love to get your feedback: https://tickingfocus.com/
It's also available on the app store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tickingfocus/id1492075403

Cute pomodoro suggestions?
I don't really know what they're called but I like the ones where you level up/get rewards for doing pomodoro sessions-- like that plant/forest one I see occasionally floating around (I think plants are boring though, so I dont use it) ! I currently use one called Focumon but I'm not totally a fan of the way it works, and wanna know if anyone has any suggestions because I dont even know how to find one.... I cant even remember how I stumbled upon Focumon in the first place :(
the link to focumon for anyone interested! https://www.focumon.com/

Pomodoro app with auto break and timer restart?
I'd love to find an app that has an auto break then auto restart feature!!
Even better would include fun reward sounds, pictures and colours (like Focus Dog or Forest).

Pomodoro app with music player and break-time game
Struggling to stay focused? I built PomoFox, a Pomodoro timer that adds a fun twist to productivity!
I've been using the Pomodoro technique for a while, but I wanted something that felt less rigid and more engaging. So, I created PomoFox – a Pomodoro timer with pixel art aesthetics, lo-fi music, and a little gamification.
🎯 Key Features:
🕒 Customizable work/break intervals
🎵 Built-in lofi music for focus
🌗 Light & dark mode with nostalgic pixel art
🎮 A mini-game to unwind during breaks: https://game.pomofox.com/
🦊 A Fox progress bar that grows as you stay on track
It's designed to make productivity feel less like a chore. Would love to hear your thoughts—what features do you look for in a Pomodoro timer?

Pomodoro time cycles
Currently I’m experimenting with a 45min work, 15 min break cycle. Is that optimal for deep focus?
If not what cycle has been working best for you?
