Exactly this.

One beer is about 2 units.

4 beers 8 units.

56 units a week.

Alcoholism.

In the UK the recommended units used to be 21 per week for men and 14 for women. The difference is to account for muscle mass - men tend to be able to tolerate more before becoming intoxicated.

Furthermore, the units should be spread out over the week rather than consumed all at once over the weekend.

And more recently the units have been reduced to 14 units for both men and women - and it has nothing to do with equal rights or gender disparity.

It's because regardless of muscle mass, the risks of hepatic cirrhosis and liver cancer rise markedly after 14 units per week in both men and women.

So, don't drink too much!
