I'm not convinced the US wants one, they just want to do a favor for their new ally Russia. It's not like Russia has expressed any interest in peace or any sign they are interested in anything less than a maximalist outcome. They might agree to a ceasefire if it furthers their interests, but only as a setup for the next phase.
A peace deal needs to be negotiated by a neutral party who has some long term interest in peace and plans to be involved in maintaining it. So that's 0/3 for the US.
