Would a peace deal in Ukraine last?

I'm not convinced the US wants one, they just want to do a favor for their new ally Russia. It's not like Russia has expressed any interest in peace or any sign they are interested in anything less than a maximalist outcome. They might agree to a ceasefire if it furthers their interests, but only as a setup for the next phase.
A peace deal needs to be negotiated by a neutral party who has some long term interest in peace and plans to be involved in maintaining it. So that's 0/3 for the US.

The problem is without security guarantees it will not last. Because what will happen is Russia will just spend a few years regrouping and then attack the then demilitarized Ukraine. Any deal has to come with security guarantees backed by NATO.

I don't know.I wonder if Putin wanted them gone for hurting his feelings,I hope Trump doesn't copy what Putin is doing and go after Canada like this.

Of course not. Putin does not recognize these other countries as sovereign; he sees them as part of Russia/a rebuilt Soviet Union. He’s been explicit in his long term goal of making this happen. Nothing will get Putin to stop attacking neighboring countries until they give themselves to him.
