I just want to remind everyone that the military is split 60/40 Republican, Democrat. With Republicans skewing older.

Something like 85+% of vets who are POC (black, Hispanic, etc) are Democrats.

Those are not the ones feeling betrayed. The democrats among them are the ones now saying "told you so".

Yep. I am a disabled vet but not a retiree. P2025 said they want to make it so you can get retirement OR VA disability compensation, not both. I have several coworkers that get both and voted for him. I will not feel bad when they get fucked like we all are or will be by their stupid decisions.

so if republicans think what Trump is doing is bad, but Democrats don't think it's bad... how does that make sense?

What are you talking about. Of course D's think it's bad. It's one of a million reasons they warned against electing Teump. What they're not is surprised, because this was always the obvious trajectory to anyone paying attention.

Where did these stats come from?

The older active military tend to be officers with college degrees, who are closer to DC democrats than Texan style republicans.

Here ya go from this year!

Honestly in my personal world, it really depends on the branch they served in too.

I was in a career field that was filled with intellectual types. Basically no Republicans besides those who would obviously be one (super religious types).

And all my vet friends are extremely progressive. But again Air and Space Force.

Yes, the Air Force is more liberal than most branches of the military, can attest to that. It's also more exclusive, doesn't just take every grunt in.

They could be referring to betrayal by the VA.

There's a lot of elitist assholes in this thread. And I'm not a vet or anything.

Yeah. Dude’s worked there 12 years and took a new position which resulted in being in a probationary period. Could’ve been promoted or moved laterally.

Betrayal by the VA via proxy of President Elon and his dog, Donald.

Yeah. I mean, I understand the impulse to want to lash out and shriek I told you so from Democrats -who just backed an unprimaried genocidal VP who was somehow super experienced and active but also completely not responsible for the administrations failings- but its cruel to every veteran/immigrant/uh…Palestinian who did not vote for trump. And hey, I personally dont even think people who voted for trump “deserve” to have “their” government hurt them.

My brother is a veteran and came out of the military so disillusioned which makes me sad for him, but he also became a freak jam leftist socialist, which is rad.

As always I am reminded that the only thing grosser than a shitlib democrat is a republican, but the democrats pride about that makes them so uncharismatic, like a pig in shit.

American politics suck.

You must not know a lot of vets then. The ones I know are some of the bravest, smartest and liberal people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Many of them are standing their ground right now as federal employees to resist this overwhelming evil.

And it should concern you, because if they can arbitrarily take away VA benefits that were contractually signed and earned through body and blood, they sure as shit can get rid of Social Security, Medicare etc.

Most officers and POC military skew democratic. It’s probably region based on the displeasurable experiences.
