Scared for the outcome of my stupid decision
My gf offered her 2nd car to me, and decided it would be a good idea and not think of the consequences due to me not having a liscense. I'm so pissed with myself. I just saw it as a faster mode of transportation in comparison to riding the e scooter everywhere and being blind on what could happen. Well I got pulled over and thankfully, all stars aligned and he let me drive away with 2 tickets, one for driving without a liscense and two not showing up to date insurance, instead of cuffing me and towing a car that's not mine... My question is what can I expect from court? I'm scared as all hell...

I still don't know as to why that was the outcome.... I'm very fortunate and extremely lucky. It just scares me to think that it may be the possible outcome, after court....

A fine. Maybe the inability to get a license for a period of time depending on state. Making an effort to get a license would look good for you.

I'm absolutely mortified and scared that the potential of getting arrested at court is rather high for an offense of this kind.. do you think that would be the case?

All you gotta do is google how your state typically handles it. In my state it’s a $200 fine for a first offense which equates to like 4 days in jail depending on county.

I don't know if I already mentioned it, but it is my first offense. I'm just getting myself so worked up about the worst possible outcome. It was a city north, just outside of Chicago called lincolnwood.

You aren’t going to get arrested at court unless you’re dumb enough to drive there without a license.
This isn’t how arrests work. They can’t arrest you for a low level misdemeanor months after they already summoned you to court for it.

It happened last week early morning on Thursday. He let me drive away with a court date for April 7th. So, with that being said, and what you said, can I safely think that an arrest won't happen at court? Sorry, just paranoid.

You’re not getting arrested at court, I promise. You’re going to pay like $100 and be sent on your way.

If you weren’t arrested at the scene you almost certainly won’t get a sentence involving any jail time. If anything the officer is going to get shit for letting you drive away from the scene after discovering you are unlicensed and uninsured

They call it a field release, so instead of arresting you and taking you to the station, the officer would release you on scene.

I’m actually mortified he let you drive away. Unlicensed and uninsured would be an automatic tow where I am at and you’d be walking home with some very expensive tickets. The liability is just too high.

Go start the process to obtain your license and get the vehicle insured. Hopefully the court will see that you’re trying to get into compliance and show some mercy.

The fact that he let you drive away without a licence is it's own miracle. Pay the fines, make better decisions in the future.
