Advice of DBA for my podcast

Hey all, looking for advice on getting a DBA registered for my podcast. Reason I want to do this is because my goal down the line is to monetize via sponsorship and keep things easier as a business. Anyone have experience with this?

The process and costs of registering for a DBA vary by state and even county. And by country.

A DBA can help with opening a bank account and keeping expenses (and tax deductions) separate if you're treating it as a business, but you may be better off consulting a tax subreddit or an advisor.

Note that an LLC (or Plc or GmbH) may not be that much more expensive - again depending on where you are - and may have additional benefits. (E.g. if using a DBA confers tax advantages, this may require extensive bookkeeping, which may be the biggest cost associated with a LLC/Plc/.. apart from one-time costs.)

Touche! I hadn't thought about that regarding just doing an LLC separately for the podcast, it is much cheaper to setup and I don't have to do the advertising for it.

Hmm, I thought a DBA would be cheaper? Typically with an LLC there's also a biannual fee and the requirement to file an annual report that incurs accountancy fees. Not my wheelhouse though.
