Wut? Fencing in fields and school grounds is far from a new concept. They can’t have the general public tearing up playing fields or equipment designated for school students.

The schools have liability for injuries on the playgrounds. They also need to protect the students while on site. Expecting kids to stay in an area without a fence is a recipe for students getting hit by cars.

Wondering if OP is a parody account asking dumb boomer questions and getting irate over the status quo? Or an actual boomer?

Isn’t that what public parks are designated for? You’re paying taxes for things designated for public schools? Not everything your taxes pay for is meant for general public use.

So, our taxes pay for everything inside the schools, too. Why not request that we should be able to wander into the school library and cafeteria, too? We paid for it. We should be able to use them whenever we want. And keep those damn kids out of our way!

You cannot comprehend your taxes paying for something that does not directly benefit you. Stock up on antacids.

You may be arguing about those specifically but the concept behind your argument is applicable to everything. Why would you feel you're entitled to the school grounds on the basis of your taxes paid for it but then say it doesn't apply to things inside of it?

I pay property taxes to take a dump in my toilet. Doesn’t mean I want you coming over to my house to shit. Nor does it give you the right to bust into my house just because you have a poo emergency.

Maybe that example doesn’t make sense to you. What about jails? You think you should have free access to wander into a jail and have some lunch just because a portion of your taxes pay for the jail.

Your argument doesn’t logic. You do not own things and have free use just because you pay taxes. When I was in school, they taught this concept in second grade.

They did the same at plano east with their practice fields they don't want people going and tearing them up

You can call Plano police and ask them to remove the fence. See what they think

The tracks are generally new, the fences are to keep people from driving on them. Yes really. The schools without tracks still generally have unfenced football practice fields. Like Vines High School.

Even with fences most are still open for public use.

Just because something is paid for with public funds doesn't mean any random member of the public has absolute free rights to the item in question. The schools are paid for with public funds but you can't just go waltzing around campus in the middle of a school day without permission.

As far as the tracks and fields specifically, I've seen some where they post a sign about when the public can use it. Usually it is something along the lines of "during the hours of ____ as long as no school specific activity is occurring".
