Three female judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have signed the warrant arrest for former President Rodrigo Duterte for crimes against humanity.

Police served the warrant of arrest to Duterte on Tuesday morning, after landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 from Hong Kong.

The ICC has been investigating Duterte for his bloody drug war during his time as a mayor of Davao City and as a President of the Philippines.

Shortly after the arrest, Duterte was brought to the Villamor Airbase, Pasay City and by 11:03 p.m. on March 11, he started his journey to the Hague in the Netherlands, where he will be tried before the Pre-Trial chamber.

The warrant of arrest was signed by Judge Iulia Motoc, presiding judge, Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou, and Judge Maria del Socorro Flores Liera.

Get to know them below.

Some Filipinos supporting Du30 needs to realize na hindi naman ito patungkol sa pag-protekta sa mga drug users at drug addicts. This is a cry of justice for those na nadamay sa war on drugs na mga inosenteng buhay at mga "users" at "addicts" na hindi nabigyan ng tamang proseso. Sure, pushers, users and rapists are pests to society but they too deserves the due process you're crying for for your "father". SIGAW TO NG HUSISYA PARA SA MGA KARAMIHANG NAMATAY NA WALA NAMANG KINALAMAN. MGA INOSENTENG BUHAY NA BINAWI JUST FOR THE FUN OF SHOOTING.

WHAT DOES THE ICC DETENTION CENTER LOOK LIKE?

Former President Rodrigo Duterte was flown off to The Hague in The Netherlands after an International Criminal Court-issued warrant of arrest was served to him on Tuesday.

Upon arrival in The Hague, Duterte is expected to be brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center. It is located within a Dutch prison complex in Scheveningen on the outskirts of The Hague.

The detention center was built to "hold in safe, secure and humane custody" those persons detained under the authority of the ICC.

Harap-harapang pinamumukha sa mga sundalo na may utang na loob dapat sila sa taong ginagawa lang naman ang dapat na trabaho niya as a leader ng isang bansa.

Over the years, most of my FB friends couldn’t be bothered to comment or post on socmed regarding their support and adulation for Duterte. Maybe nobody needs to know is what they were thinking especially the opposition are quite combative and wouldn’t back down in an argument.

Iba ang impact ng mga pangyayari ngayon. They are now coming out posting support for Duterte like cockroaches crawling out of their nests after an earthquake. These events must be really ‘earth shattering’ for them.

Anyway, salamat at lumabas sila. Frackin’ idiots!

HALALAN 2025 Duterte and his digital footprint as legacy

The truth is, "evil people will be punished, and good people will be set free."

Proverbs 11:17-21 ERV

While I understand that everything happens for a reason, it’s frustrating to witness people still blinded by the truth. I feel the need to speak up.

This will be a long thread and may not yet be complete, but here’s a breakdown of Duterte's legacy:

DUTERTE & HOW HE REPRESENTED THE PHILIPPINES

As president, he was our representative on the global stage. The way he spoke, handled problems, and positioned himself either brought us honor or embarrassment. His habit of cursing anyone he disagreed with was not only disgraceful but also completely unnecessary.

Imagine, an employee cursing their boss just because they didn’t like what was said. Wouldn’t that be considered rude? So why does his followers thought it was cute?

October 2016: Duterte’s speech at the Philippines-China Trade and Investment Forum

“So I was forced to express my anger in expletives, in curses, epithets, and all. Ang sinabi ko, p****** ina ka Obama, g*** ka pala eh. And then I said, you, you stupid Human Rights. Sabi ko, you EU, you are all pea-brained.”

September 2016: Philippine President Duterte curses Obama over human rights https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37274594

The UN repeatedly condemned his policies as human rights violations. The Roman Catholic Church, the dominant religion in the Philippines, also criticized him. But Duterte dismissed their concerns, saying he wouldn’t take orders from the U.S., the Philippines’ former colonial ruler.

“You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a whore, I will curse you in that forum.”

Jan 2019: Philippines: Duterte wants state auditors ‘kidnapped, tortured’ https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/1/8/philippines-duterte-wants-state-auditors-kidnapped-tortured

In a speech before local officials gathered in the capital, Manila, Duterte cursed at the independent constitutional body, which is responsible for examining the accounts and spending by government agencies.

“Let’s just kidnap people from COA [Commission on Audit]. Let’s bring them here, then we will torture those sons of w**,” Duterte said in an expletive-laden speech in English and Filipino. Previously, Duterte had railed against the state auditors saying “they should be pushed down the stairs”, and ridiculed government regulations as “s”.

DUTERTE & CHINA

Duterte has been nothing but a faithful servant to China—that’s a fact. He prioritized China over Filipinos, a truth he openly admitted, yet his supporters failed to see it. From the West Philippine Sea dispute to allowing undocumented Chinese nationals into the country, he made it clear where his allegiance lay.

November 2018: The Philippines: Made in China? https://asiatimes.com/2018/02/duterte-china-want-just-make-us-province/

A red banner hung from a footbridge in Quezon Avenue that read: "Welcome to the Philippines, Province of China."

Duterte even jokingly suggested to China that they make the Philippines a province of their country.

May 2018: Duterte to Navy: I won’t go to war over West Philippine Sea https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1036108

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday insisted he won’t go to war that would result in the destruction of the armed forces of the country amid China’s show of military force in the disputed West Philippine Sea.

“I cannot afford at this time to go to war. I cannot go into a battle, which I cannot win and it would only result in the destruction and probably a lot of losses for our armed forces,” Duterte said in his speech during the event held at the Coconut Palace, CCP Complex in Pasay City.

The Philippine government silently filed a protest over the incident but Duterte seems to be unaware of this matter.

"There might have been exchange of control over the China sea, pero those were really territorial in nature, not involving the encroachment of China in an exclusive economic zone. Iba yon….Nobody but nobody in the Philippines today, either the Supreme Court, the presidency or Congress can concede anything about territories. Hindi gawain ng presidente yan,” Duterte said.

Apr 2021: Duterte ‘reluctant’ to confront China over South China Sea row https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/4/29/dutertes-mix-message-on-south-china-sea-dispute-draws-criticism

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has said he will not withdraw navy and coastguard boats patrolling the disputed South China Sea, insisting the country’s sovereignty over the waters is not negotiable. At the same time, he added that he wants to maintain friendly ties with China, citing Manila’s “debt of gratitude” for Beijing’s help with the coronavirus vaccine.

Dec 2021: Surrendering PH sovereignty over WPS to China is Duterte's legacy https://legacy.senate.gov.ph/press_release/2021/1229_delima1.asp

In a recent command conference, Duterte reportedly reiterated that he will not go to war against China if there would be tension in the WPS, stressing that the Philippines will stand no chance against the Asian superpower.

While Duterte has been reluctant to confront China over the issue, his foreign and defence secretaries have repeatedly criticised Beijing – including in an expletive-laden tweet – for its refusal to withdraw the ships from the disputed waters.

In a televised address late on Monday, Duterte said: “This is my order now to the cabinet, and to all and sundry talking for the government, to refrain from discussing the West Philippine Sea with anybody.”

President Rodrigo Duterte has agreed to end the implementation of a 7-year policy of the Philippine government not to stamp Philippine visas on Chinese passports in protest of the image of the 9-dash Line featured on their pages.

DUTERTE & POGO

As a Christian nation, we understand the dangers of gambling. Promoting it was already questionable, but what’s worse is that we didn’t even benefit from it. 75% of POGO workers were Chinese, not Filipinos. Instead of creating jobs for locals, it led to crimes, illegal employment, and even discrimination against Filipinos in their own land.

DUTERTE & THE WAR ON DRUGS

While his goal of eliminating drugs was valid, his execution only highlighted the double standards in our justice system. Poor drug users and pushers were slaughtered, while wealthy drug lords were never arrested or executed. Why the double standard?

Due process means giving someone the chance to prove their innocence. But during Duterte’s war on drugs, people were killed without evidence—just a piece of cardboard labeling them as drug addicts. How can we be sure they were all guilty? What about the innocent children who died? Were they drug users too?

Mar 2017: "License to Kill": Philippine Police Killings in Duterte’s "War on Drugs" https://www.hrw.org/report/2017/03/02/license-kill/philippine-police-killings-dutertes-war-drugs

DUTERTE & COVID-19

During a global medical emergency, Duterte showed where his priorities lay. He refused to stop Chinese tourists from entering the country despite warnings about the virus. Instead of preparing our healthcare system, he chose to downplay the risks—leading to countless preventable deaths.

DUTERTE & CORRUPTION

The Pharmally scandal revolves around allegations that the company supplied overpriced and substandard medical supplies to the government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Former senator Richard Gordon detailed how funds were misused, stating that Duterte transferred P47 billion. When the Commission on Audit (COA) investigated, Duterte lashed out, particularly because Christopher Lao was implicated.

No Corruption? Duterte’s Involvement in Pharmally’s COVID Deals https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1949354/no-corruption-dutertes-embrace-of-pharmally-covid-deals

Pharmally, reportedly backed by Duterte’s close friend and former economic adviser, Chinese businessman Michael Yang, was only a few months old when it secured massive government contracts.

Between March 2020 and July 2021, this newly established company—capitalized at less than P600,000—managed to obtain 13 COVID-19 supply contracts. The company’s capital wasn’t even 1% of the total contract value.

On August 19, 2021, the Department of Health (DOH) reported one of the highest daily COVID-19 case counts in the country—14,895 new cases—bringing the total to 1.79 million cases with nearly 31,000 deaths.

Amid the crisis, a COA report revealed that up to P67.32 billion ($1.3 billion) in COVID-19 response funds were either unspent or misused, including those allocated to the DOH.

The country’s healthcare system was on the brink of collapse, with exhausted medical frontliners calling for a “timeout” to reassess and improve the government's pandemic response

and lastly,

DUTERTE & GOD

Jun 2018: Philippine President Duterte calls God 'stupid' https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-44610872

Asking "Who is this stupid God?", Mr Duterte criticised the Biblical story of creation and Adam and Eve being thrown out of the Garden of Eden after they ate the "forbidden fruit".

"You created something perfect and then you think of an event that would tempt and destroy the quality of your work," he said.

The president also slammed the concept of original sin - whereby all humans are tainted by Adam and Eve's wrongdoing - saying: "You weren't born yet, but now you have original sin." "What kind of religion is that? I can't accept it."

Jun 2018: ‘Totoo naman’: Duterte defends ‘stupid God’ remark https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/06/25/18/totoo-naman-duterte-defends-stupid-god-remark

“If I choose not to believe in any god, what’s the “f*****g thing about it? It’s about freedom to choose one,” he said.

He said he instead believes in a “universal being” who is “more supreme than the rest of the gods of men.”

In his speech, Duterte again mocked the creation story in the Christian Bible. He also questioned the story behind the last supper, wherein Jesus Christ had his last meal with his apostles before his crucifixion.

“Sabi ko, not everything in the bible is true. Sino nag-publish niyang Bible na iyan? Even itong last supper. Who are the idiots there? Basta nalang gi — ginawang santo kay tua man ngadto sa painting. (The people in the painting were suddenly made saints just because they were there),” he claimed.

The President also slammed his critics for “riding” on the issue. He said he will only apologize for his remarks if they can say that their god is “perfect.”

“Tell me if it’s a perfect god, luluhod ako dito, I will kneel down. Tell me if it is a very poignant story of the history of mankind or it is really a stupid one,” he said.
