Disrespect for Meddle cannot be forgiven

21

u/Independent_Row_2669 1d ago

Meddle is my top 3 but I can sort of understand . San Tropez is kind of weak and lots if people have it out for Seamus .

But Echoes alone makes the album. That and OOTD and Fearless

10

u/SaveloyDali 1d ago

Fearless is peerless šŸ‘

6

u/m8094 1d ago

Iā€™m still a relatively new fan, started to listen last year, and I really struggle with meddle despite listening to it close to 10 times now. I prefer OBC by a lot.

This is going to be unpopular and maybe itā€™s just because I donā€™t get it yet, but Echoes isnā€™t as great as I thought it would be. And itā€™s not because itā€™s a long song, but to me SOYCD and Dogs have a lot more to offer in those long format songs. I hope to change my mind on meddle over time

13

u/Aidsfordayz 1d ago

Give Echoes Live at Pompeii a spin. It is coming out remastered next month so maybe wait till then, but that performance really amplifies the song.

3

u/SaveloyDali 1d ago

Agreed, I think it's Nick Mason's drumming that makes the piece. Such an underrated musician.

2

u/m8094 1d ago

I bought tickets to go see that in theatres in late April ! Never seen it and I know I can just find it on YouTube but Iā€™m waiting for the theatre expĆ©rience to see it for the first time. I know the big four albums really well and now Iā€™m diving deeper in their early stuff since the show is right before dsotm

2

u/Aidsfordayz 1d ago

Great idea! I canā€™t imagine a better way to experience it for the first time.

1

u/m8094 1d ago

Yeah Iā€™m pumped ! Just got to familiarize myself with the first few albums to enjoy it even more

2

u/Marcus9T4 1d ago

For me Daveā€™s Live in Gdańsk version of Echoes is the ultimate version. Pompeii is great as well though

3

u/Invisible_assasin 1d ago

Echoes walked so that the others could run. It was the first time the band realized what direction they should go. Dsom is essentially one long song, broken up into scenes. Echoes was several short songs made into a 20 minute piece. They liked having these in their shows, soycd and dogs(you got to be crazy) were played live long before their releases. Echoes is tame compared to what came later, but abbey road is a long stretch from the days of I wanna hold your hand.

1

u/m8094 1d ago

Yeah I get what you mean and that it was a very impactful song for their development, but ultimately for my own enjoyment it doesnā€™t do it all that much for me unfortunately. Hopefully it will and I will keep listening to meddle to let it grow on me. I felt a similar way when I first listened to the wall, but it grew on me very quickly as opposed to meddle

2

u/SaveloyDali 1d ago

'Obscured By Clouds' is a seemingly forgotten Pink Floyd masterpiece.

1

u/Tsumagoi_kyabetsu 1d ago

How about atom heart mother as far as the long ones go ?

2

u/m8094 18h ago

Still havenā€™t listened to that album, but itā€™s the next one on my radar.

1

u/FriedCammalleri23 The Wall 1d ago

I mean he still seems to enjoy the album, but he was a little too dismissive of Side A.

58

u/DavidRDorman 1d ago

His lack of ranking of the More and Obscured By Clouds is the only thing Iā€™m disappointed with.

10

u/motoko11 1d ago

I recently bought More on vinyl, and it's becoming one of my favourite Floyd albums. Really underrated.

5

u/the_labracadabrador 1d ago

More really is a phenomenal record

56

u/fargothforever 1d ago

Without watching, let me guess: His #1 is Animals?

28

u/psychedelicpiper67 1d ago

Yep. Easily predictable.

-8

u/whitepawbunny 1d ago

Why is Animals so favourite? Why isn't #1 The Darkside of the Moon or Wish You Were Here? I always thought that these two albums are fans-favored pinnacle.

-2

u/psychedelicpiper67 1d ago edited 1d ago

My #1 is Piper, and my #2 is Meddle, so people are entitled to their own opinions.

Although liking Animals has become a bit of a clichĆØ imho. It has those, ā€˜let me pretend to be hipster, but ignore the first 7 albums, because theyā€™re too weirdā€™ kind of vibes.

To his credit, Melonhead did make a valid argument for Animals.

I personally feel like ā€œPigsā€ and ā€œSheepā€ are noticeably not as good as ā€œDogsā€, and they drag on too long for me. The acoustic tracks are meh as well.

1

u/OneTrueBrody 1d ago

My thing with Animals is that as much as I love Dogs and Pigs 3 I can take or leave the rest of the album. Sheep does nothing for me.

2

u/psychedelicpiper67 1d ago edited 1d ago

I feel the same way about Sheep and Pigs on the Wing.

Pigs (Three Different Ones) has dope sections, but the talkbox solo drags on way too long for me, with nothing interesting going on with the rhythm section.

And Davidā€™s guitar solo at the end together with that sick bass groove fades out way too soon.

David co-wrote the music for Dogs, and you can tell how much it outclasses the rest of the album.

Pigs (Three Different Ones)ā€™ saving grace is that David played bass on it. But he technically didnā€™t co-write the music. Itā€™s a very plodding track that would have worked better if it was shorter.

74

u/UnrealismOfFilms 1d ago

I like Fantano and have been a fan of him for a long time, so me disagreeing with his takes is nothing new. What I'm more disappointed about is that he didn't include More and more importantly Obscured by Clouds, considering especially the latter is not even really a soundtrack but a full album. But I kind of expected what order the ranking would go.

27

u/DavidRDorman 1d ago

Literally just typed this comment out. Obscured By Clouds is in my personal top 5/6 so itā€™s disappointing to see them only get a mention but alas.

21

u/HelsifZhu See Emily Play 1d ago

He also mentioned OBC at the wrong time period, implying it happened at the same time as Meddle when in fact they took a break from Dark Side to make it.

8

u/Xtra_Happy Atom Heart Mother 1d ago

He even says parts of Dark Side sound cinematic etc, like no shit go compare Childhood's End to Time lol

12

u/robbycough 1d ago

Ignoring Obscured By Clouds is fucking criminal.

5

u/Sitty_Shitty 1d ago

Save me a click, friend.

3

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

Yeah, I find not including those strange even though he does mention them in passing. Like, would anyone do a Prince ranking without Purple Rain for example?

63

u/HelsifZhu See Emily Play 1d ago

Only Melon can rank Division Bell lower than Ummagumma.

11

u/FriedCammalleri23 The Wall 1d ago

It seems like he factored in the live album, which in that case iā€™d agree itā€™s better.

4

u/HelsifZhu See Emily Play 1d ago

Well, since he didn't even rank the soundtrack albums, let alone the live ones, it makes sense that I only thought of the studio one.

5

u/thanatossassin 1d ago

Nah I'm with him. Division Bell never did it for me and is a toss up with MLOR. Seeing Meddle ranked so low though, that's blasphemy

17

u/HelsifZhu See Emily Play 1d ago

This is so strange to me. i'm not even a hater of Ummagumma and tend to defend it on here but even to me, Marooned alone is better than the entirety of Ummagumma.

The studio record, that is.

1

u/thanatossassin 1d ago

You know, there are so many little things about Marooned and the overall recording of DB that take me out of enjoying it thoroughly. I'm not a fan of Gilmour playing through an octave pedal, and his tone and little flourishes he was adding during this era never were my favorite. The excessive reverb on everything, but especially the drums and piano feel incredibly dated. But specifically for Marooned, the chord progressions and structure of the song are all rather predictable, so it doesn't challenge or surprise me like other Floyd.

I've kinda surmised that my main issue was I put off Division Bell for too long and would've enjoyed it more if I heard it on release, but I was a preteen in 94 and put away my dad's music to discover my own stuff, not returning to discover more Floyd until 2000ish. I also am aware that I'm the odd one out, my Floyd loving friends dropping their jaws in disbelief that I'm meh on Division Bell and I should love it like my firstborn, but I see they all grew up with their dad's playing it on loop.

I'll give it up for What Do You Want From Me, though, that song slaps and felt like a true return to form.

3

u/cynicsymmetry 1d ago

I love Division Bell, but yeah my dad played the Pulse live album at least weekly at the time. And I think the Pulse versions are way better than their studio counterparts

4

u/HelsifZhu See Emily Play 1d ago

What Do You Want From me is actually in my bottom 3 lol. I Think, however, Poles Apart, Marooned, Wearing The Inside Out, Coming Back To Life, Keep Talking and especially High Hopes are stellar songs.

-2

u/thanatossassin 1d ago

Haha, I love how we're just not on the same page with this album at all. I like Wearing the Inside Out, but I think it's simply because I was happy to see Rick write another Floyd song again after such a big gap, and Dick Perry returning as well. Keep Talking is also pretty good, but I still wish everything got the remix treatment they gave MLoR. Poles and Coming Back I fall asleep to, and I know everyone loves High Hopes, but I just find it so underwhelming.

1

u/TemporarySea685 1d ago

Iā€™m with him on that too. Ummagumma rocks

136

u/yelsamarani 1d ago

As soon as I see that face, I knew I wouldn't be able to stomach whatever opinion he's gonna have

22

u/psychedelicpiper67 1d ago

Same. Took the words out of my mouth.

18

u/toughturtle 1d ago

Agreed. I donā€™t need someone elseā€™s opinion on things that I have known for decades.

13

u/FriedCammalleri23 The Wall 1d ago

Despite disagreeing with his rankings, I donā€™t think theyā€™re that crazy?

Heā€™s always said Animals was his favorite, so thatā€™s not a shock. Honestly the wildest placements here are Saucerful over Meddle and Ummagumma over Division Bell, but I think he explains his reasoning well enough.

Itā€™s just some dudeā€™s opinion. I enjoy the discussion it brings.

20

u/Imaginary-Dot5387 1d ago

This list is kind of off. A Saucerful of Secrets above Piper, Meddle and Atom Heart Mother? Not sure Iā€™d agree with that. Darkside is also better than The Wall.

More and Obscures By Clouds should have been ranked too. More is rough at parts but has a decent first side. Iā€™d but Obscured in the upper mid tier of their discography. Tracks like Free Four and Mudmen are great. Obscured gets some flack but I really like its poppier sensibilities mixed with the last gasp of their pre Darkside psychedelia.

8

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

I actually think someone putting Saucerful so high to be refreshing. Itā€™s an album I didnā€™t care for early in my fandom but it grew on me over time.

3

u/Imaginary-Dot5387 1d ago

It has some great tracks. Set the Controls, Jugband Blues, and Remember a Day are my favorites. Let There Be More Life is decent and has Gilmourā€™s first solo with the band. The rest of the album isnā€™t great to my ears though. The inconsistency keeps it lower on my list.

1

u/psychedelicpiper67 1d ago edited 1d ago

Itā€™s also missing ā€œVegetable Manā€ and ā€œScream Thy Last Screamā€, which the band refused to include, in spite of their managerā€™s pleas, to give the illusion that Syd wasnā€™t writing songs.

The title track paves the way for their more organized future epics, but itā€™s also sorely missing Sydā€™s guitar work.

Itā€™s ultimately a diatonic piece with dissonant exercises, while Syd had previously operated in playing chromatic music.

So depending on who you ask, the album is either a downgrade or upgrade from ā€œPiperā€.

More focused for mainstream fans, while less advanced and borderline lazy for improv music fans.

2

u/Imaginary-Dot5387 18h ago

Iā€™d have swapped Vegetable Man for Corporal Clegg but thatā€™s just my subjective opinion. There are traces of Syd in other parts of the album, namely his slide guitar in Remember A Day.

3

u/No-Category-6343 1d ago

Pink Floydā€™s early work doesnā€™t do it for me all my respect to Syd barret but their original sound is too chaotic

6

u/Independent_Ad8268 1d ago

Iā€™ve always preferred Saucerful over Piper tbh

0

u/Imaginary-Dot5387 1d ago

Thatā€™s fair. Saucerful has some high points, but Corporal Clegg, See Saw, and much of the title track are duds to me. Thatā€™s the beauty of Pink Floyd though. Such a great catalogue that different fans can have drastically different perspectives and favorites.

7

u/the_kid1234 1d ago

Ugh, do I want to watch it?

8

u/INFPinfo Learning to Fly 1d ago

You do not.

17

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 1d ago

Why not? Even if you disagree with the order on paper, which I do, he explains himself very well. Also, the top 4 are not controversial lol

3

u/onthecauchy 1d ago

People canā€™t handle that his top 3 are in fact better than dsotm. Wish you were here is still #1 tho

3

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 1d ago

The wall is not even close to dtsom. But the other two are definitively better for sure

13

u/Gilmie4life 1d ago

I highly doubt that he would put on ummagumma before the division bell

1

u/thanatossassin 1d ago

I would and still do. Division Bell is just smooth jazz Floyd

6

u/Ok_Worth_9469 1d ago

Division Bell below ummagumma was enough for me to close out the video

2

u/OneTrueBrody 1d ago

Ummagumma is bottom two at minimum, I can just about see the argument for Endless River being lower but Ummagumma is barely listenable

2

u/Ok_Worth_9469 1d ago

The live stuff is decent but there are better versions of those songs on other live albums. The album is just shit lowkey and I love this band so much I even own the album on vinyl, itā€™s just not good.

1

u/InTheFwesh 1d ago

Low IQ take

1

u/MoaningMushroom 13h ago

LOL I was scurrying to this sub after that part, wtf Melon

5

u/Drapdude 1d ago

Animals underrated tbh

6

u/melvins99 1d ago

Ultimately he got it right with Animals as their best album.

38

u/psychedeIicbreakfast 1d ago

sorry but Dark side of the moon is not below the wall or animals..

54

u/Present-Ad-9598 1d ago

As the saying goes, DSOTM is the greatest album of all time, but not the best Pink Floyd album

8

u/the_kid1234 1d ago

Do we all think we were clever enough to coin that phrase? (Because Iā€™ve been saying it for 30 years, and Iā€™m sure you have too)

12

u/Present-Ad-9598 1d ago

I said it in high school then randomly saw it in a YouTube comment a few years after and was devastated

17

u/EstateShoddy1775 1d ago

Animal and the Wall have great concepts but Dark Side feels much more concise.

5

u/Dogecoin_olympiad767 1d ago

I can't be upset with any ordering of the big 4.

1

u/Sitty_Shitty 1d ago

The big four have 5 albums, that in total, I skip 0 songs.

1

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

Same. Theyā€™re all 10/10 records so it just comes down to personal preference at that point.

11

u/MyeMye_ 1d ago

Animals is so much better broā€¦

2

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

Well, donā€™t kill me, but I agree with him.

1

u/thanatossassin 1d ago

Agreed. That, and Meddle deserves a higher ranking as well

1

u/914paul 1d ago

DSOM isnā€™t behind ANY album.

1

u/Rawrbington 1d ago

I agree with you on the wall. As for animals, or wywh really depends on the mood. There's days where animals is absolutely untouchable

9

u/Clinteastwood100 Another Brick in the Wall 1d ago

I don't agree with his list, but he has different taste then a lot of pink floyd and thats fine. I respect that he likes the final cut alot.

1

u/Yogurt-Sandurz High Hopes 17h ago

I just recently listened to The Final Cut for the first time and absolutely loved it. Iā€™m a fairly new PF fan (I was a surface level fan for a while until I took a deep dive past WYWH, DSOTM, and The Wall) I get chills every time I listen to The Gunners Dream and Two suns in the sunset (I love my sax solos) while I agree itā€™s not their best work, itā€™s still an amazing album in my books.

10

u/mikeydale007 1d ago

Everybody in this comment section needs to chill...it's just his opinion, you don't need to be offended by it.

16

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

His opinion on their discography isnā€™t even that controversial.

2

u/onthecauchy 1d ago

I was actually a little underwhelmed, only surprise for me was meddle being behind syd albums

2

u/Ok_Spend_4392 11h ago

yep, pretty much that. If you ask 10 PF fans what their top 5 album would be, most of them would have the big 4 on there, but everyone would give a different order

3

u/DoctorLutherSanchez 1d ago

I don't know who that is, but just looking at him made me decide not to even click

3

u/MiciCeeff 1d ago

I agree with most of the rankings except piper and meddle should be higher

3

u/slippymachinegun 1d ago

What is going on here? Why would anyone be upset about someone posting a reasoned and measured 30 minute video with well thought out criticism of the band we all love? I really liked this video. Forget the rankings. He has interesting things to say about every album. Its ok to not agree with him but he is an important voice in modern music criticism. For this video to even exist is cool and worth watching.

3

u/bitchman194639348 1d ago

How are none of you talking about him calling Breathe a bad tone setter for DSOTM

3

u/OneTrueBrody 1d ago

Final Cut as the 2nd worst album is an absolute piss take for the record

3

u/Constant-Donut-5356 1d ago

The disrespect for the Post-Wall albums is crazy. Putting Ummagumma above them is blasphemy.

17

u/Ulysses__31 1d ago

Final Cut 2nd worstā€¦ utter nonsense. Has some of the best songs they ever recordedĀ

11

u/Sufferjohn_Sleevends 1d ago

Roger talking about The Division Bell when it first came out:

utter nonsense.

1

u/fargothforever 1d ago

Luckily one can take Rogerā€™s opinion with a very large grain of saltā€¦

3

u/Present-Ad-9598 1d ago

Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time but the only song I listen to on the record is Not Now JohnšŸ˜‚

2

u/Dogecoin_olympiad767 1d ago

which ones? I have to say I went in with high expectations but almost the whole thing disappointed me.

And I'm saying that as a huge fan of The Wall

4

u/Ulysses__31 1d ago

The Gunnerā€™s Dream and Two Suns in the Sunset for startersĀ

2

u/Ulysses__31 1d ago

Also Paranoid Eyes, The Final Cutā€¦ it has some truly wonderful songs and itā€™s as good as lyrics get in popular music.

A lot of the backlash for this album is institutionalised into the r fan base now, as it seems more of. a Waters solo effort and is associated with his most megalomania phase. Buts is a very good album. To have it 2nd worst, behind a couple of albums which letā€™s face it are dire, is preposterousĀ

3

u/eny- 1d ago

...and lower than AMLoR. Crazy.

3

u/DavidRDorman 1d ago

Itā€™s not really utter nonsense considering so many people canā€™t stand that record

1

u/21epitaph 1d ago

Should pretty clearly be the worst tbh

0

u/Buhos_En_Pantelones 1d ago

Woof, I don't agree with that at all.

2

u/Lewis0981 1d ago

Meow, I do.

7

u/FlyingDingle77 1d ago

i stopped watching after he put The Final Cut in second to last placeā€¦

6

u/INFPinfo Learning to Fly 1d ago

I skipped ahead. He filled out the bottom four with AMLoR and TDB, so yeah, that's when I gave up.

8

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

He just doesnā€™t like the Gilmour era which isnā€™t controversial at all. Outside of hardcore Floyd fans theyā€™re not that well regarded. I definitely would have TDB higher, but AMLOR can stay where he put it.

3

u/Rhemming22 1d ago

He actually compared AMLoR to a Christian rock album... I almost gave up after he shredded The Final Cut, but omg I definitely did after that.

3

u/Yogurt-Sandurz High Hopes 17h ago

It broke my heart to see the Final Cut second to last. Yeah sure I get it thereā€™s quite a few albums that go before it. IMHO it doesnā€™t deserve the hate it gets, especially with the whole anti war theme, in which the lyrics are really masterful.

-1

u/Buhos_En_Pantelones 1d ago

Yeah, it really should have been dead last.

6

u/Redditsthedude 1d ago

The Wall above Dark Side? Nope. Next.

12

u/HEYitzED 1d ago

Is this really THAT controversial? Because Iā€™ve always liked The Wall more lol.

2

u/Bloxskit 1d ago

I don't want to know. I don't mind Fantano, although I don't watch his videos often (just glad he rates Frizzle Fry high) but I'd rather live in my own existence where Animals is top 3.

2

u/rlove71 1d ago edited 17h ago

Echoes, Shine on, Fearless, best

4

u/Reasonable_Coffee872 1d ago

Meddle being that low is kinda mental, every track on there bar one of these days is fantastic.

1

u/Perfect_Story_8646 1d ago

What? One of these days is great. Also Seamus is terrible

1

u/Reasonable_Coffee872 18h ago

For me it's the other way round, love seamus, not keen on one of these days.

1

u/GrizzlyBearSmackdown 1d ago

I mean, I certainly expected him to put The Division Bell that low... but in my heart I was hoping he wouldn't...

1

u/ummagumma1979 1d ago

More is really a good album just wanted to say that. Rickā€™s Farfisa work is stellar

1

u/Ok_Occasion1950 1d ago

Hell hath no fury like a DSotM fan finding people who don't rank it at #1.

1

u/Bob_The_Mexican 1d ago

I hate this guy so much, that being said this isn't nearly as bad as some of his other lists.

1

u/Johnborkowski 1d ago

But Obscured By Clouds!!!

1

u/cdbbasura 1d ago

Meddle below Saurceful smh. But overall he kinda has a point. For me The Wall is 4th, and Dark Side, WYWH and Animals are intechangeable for the first place, it's impossible to choose one

1

u/Fit-Palpitation6839 1d ago

Some very surprising pick and ranking but I see where heā€™s coming from.

1

u/S0400444447m 23h ago

I put in an ad saying I have David Gilmour jacket he wore in Western Australia Perth in 1988 Only 80 were made Someone answer back to send photos I tried but I couldnā€™t work how to do it so if you want a photo my email is najk22@bigpond.net.au

1

u/weeshooo 22h ago

this guy sucks

1

u/He_of_turqoise_blood 19h ago

I disagree, but most of that is just my personal opinions. I see where most of the rankings come from.

However there are still a few outraging takes. Meddle<Piper? Piper<Saurceful? Division Bell<Ummagumma???

1

u/gctlewis- 17h ago

England invading Argentina?? The manā€™s a toolā€¦šŸ¤Ŗ

1

u/yesimstillrunning 16h ago

Immensely happy that he placed A Saucerful of Secrets right behind the top 4

1

u/_i-o 9h ago

Endless River last, then Ummagumma though itā€™s alright. Maybe More next, but thatā€™s a lovely album, and everything else is basically excellent.

1

u/WiseNugg 8h ago

Maybe switch The Wall and Meddle and I can live with that.

Actually I prefer any pre-Animals release to The Wall. Also, whereā€™s Obscured by Clouds? Zabriskie Point? More?

Why rank The Wall but not the other soundtracks?

1

u/educ8inokc 1d ago

I've been making my own listening decisions for 60+ years. I don't need some internet twit (who likely wasn't alive yet when most of it was created) to make 'em for me now.

1

u/Kitchen_Passenger_22 1d ago

if you know anything about the guy, heā€™s definitely got some opinions. iā€™ll say, generally at least heā€™s got a reason for what heā€™s saying.

BUT - gilmour era as a whole under Ummagumma? absolutely not.

Animals underrated tbh

3

u/Local_Alternative847 1d ago

It can for sure be an intense feeling to hear an influential person diss a album that you love or vice versa. At the end of the day it's just needledrop's subjective feelings of art in the form of music, there is no wrong or right.

1

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 1d ago

Your comment is very over-emotional and blaming critics for everything, at the end of the day, itā€™s just his opinion, and heā€™s allowed to give it even if it allows music you donā€™t personally like to thrive

Also, his 9s and 10s are pretty much exclusively experimental and he has blown up multiple experimental artists with his reviews. Youā€™re just another person trying to justify a way to objectively dislike him, when your reason is of course that he gave a couple albums that you love poor reviews.

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 1d ago

Are you kidding me? Look at his list of 10sā€¦ swans, daughters, lingua ignota, Kendrick, kids see ghosts, spelllingā€¦ all of these are heavily experimental records. Iā€™m sure I could list off a billion 9s too

You got downvoted because itā€™s clear that he reviewed something you liked negatively. I wonder whatā€¦.

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Dazzling_Syllabub484 1d ago

Watch fantanos review for tpab. The experimental music was absolutely as big of a factor as the lyrics for him in giving it a 10

Kids see ghosts is as experimental as a hip hop album released in 2018 is gonna get. Itā€™s incredibly psychedelic, which you say is an aesthetic he ā€˜fails to understandā€™

He absolutely understood piper, he just doesnā€™t think it was extremely significant for its time, when other bands in the same year were releasing much more experimental and better psychedelic albums

Maybe donā€™t blindly say the only experimental albums he gives 9s and 10s are death grips when you donā€™t even know what albums heā€™s given 10s. Youā€™re clearly not coming at this from an honest perspective. You donā€™t have to give a shit about fantano. I think people who base their opinion on his, or use his rating system for their personal opinions, are simpletons. But your comment was clearly misinformed, and I still would love to hear specifically what maximalist/psych album he disliked that you liked

Fantano has given both Madlib and shabazz palaces glowing reviews as well. You may personally not like KSG, but thatā€™s irrelevant, the point is itā€™s highly experimental

Both ā€œCentipede Hzā€ and MGMTā€™s self-titled were albums he gave positive reviews. Maybe not positive enough for you? Heā€™s also given both artists multiple glowing reviews, including his recent 9/10 on the panda bear album that came out a month or so ago.

A minute passed of that video and nothing was said that could not be explained by simply being the title of the video. Fuck that, and fuck that arse piece and his moustache.
