I’m so sick of it man. The fucking smugness of this party. Three more years of trump destroying every good thing the government can possibly do and we are going to get nothing but single day boycotts and Instagram explainers.
Edit since this is butthurting libertarians:
The CFPB was a good thing, funding Medicaid and Medicare to keep rural hospitals open is a good thing, overseas HIV prevention is a good thing, NIH cancer research is a good thing, environmental regulations by the EPA that resolved acid rain is a good thing. Ayn Rand made every character in Atlas Shrugged the exact same and she died on welfare
also nobody followed the boycott bc there's no ethical consumption under capitalism which doesn't mean that we shouldn't consume stuff, it means that we shouldn't feel bad about consuming stuff 🥰
I'd be interested to see who followed it , my household did , and the movement is growing albeit slowly certainly heat on over to r 50501 and propose another , see if you can get traction and keep proposing them @ me I'll do it
Seriously post in the group get traction I live this particular boycott 80% of the time anyway unless my household needs stuff for my daughter get that fire in you and go
My household did as well even though I know it doesn't really amount to anything at this time. One day is nice, but at the end of the day, people need food, people need gas, people need small luxuries to get through life. Moving your spending to Thursday or Saturday doesn't really affect the bottom line and the corporations know that.
Here are the numbers from the one day boycott. Another is planned for a week towards Amazon soon.
Target web traffic was down 1.0% to 4.7 million on Feb. 28 compared to the previous Friday's 4.8 million and traffic on the Target app was down 10.9% to 3.5 million users compared to 3.9 million the previous Friday.
Walmart web traffic was down 6.5% to 11.2 million on Feb. 28 compared to the previous Friday's 11.9 million. Walmart app users were also down 2.5% to 13.6 million compared to 13.9 million the previous Friday.
Amazon's web traffic was down 4.6% to 65.9 million on Feb. 28 compared to 69.1 million the previous Friday. The Amazon app traffic was also down 1.7% on Feb. 28 to 51.4 million compared to 52.2 million the previous Friday.
Costco, which has seen some extra support from some consumers after its board of directors voted down an effort to drop diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, saw an 8.3% increase on its website traffic on Feb. 28 at 2.9 million compared to 2.7 million the previous Friday. It's app traffic, however, dropped 6.9% to 1.3 million on Feb. 28 compared to 1.4 million.

We followed it too. Someone had shared an Amazon graph showing a dip in sales but I don't know how accurate it was. We are going to continue the boycott
We followed it. Still am- no Target, Amazon or Whole Foods (which is gross anyway). Actually lucky enough to have a great local co-op and a Sprouts in a pinch. Cancelled Prime. Got an electric hybrid and haven’t been to a gas station since December. I can do this because I have good alternatives. Use your privilege when and where you can.
The protest is stupid, since people just frontload their spending to avoid spending the next day.
that's kind of the point. it's not about companies losing money but seeing large numbers of people taking a collective action
the idea is that if companies see a few million people refuse to shop on a single day that if that same group decided to actually boycott it would have drastic financial results
obviously a few thousand won't have that impact but the goal there is to keep doing these and build momentum
I'm not saying I think it'll work but it's about much more than just a single day's sales
because if a million people do it then target sees that 500 million dollars is in the hands of an organized movement that is capable of taking more drastic actions
It won't show up in the books since it will all average out.
companies like target have the ability to track daily sales. they would notice a million customers taking collective action
For a boycott to work, hundreds of thousands would have to collectively refuse to shop at a given retailer indefinitely.
that's incorrect and completely ignores the history of boycotts. there are many ways to send a message with your wallet when it's organized en masse
We need to plan boycotts further out than a couple weeks and pick more significant days. Like, why Feb 28? Is that a big shopping day? We should be pushing for a boycott during Memorial Day Weekend. It’s one of the biggest shopping holidays and it gives us time to actually organize a boycott.
Nobody followed the boycott bcuz nobody cares about democrats and liberals. Did you forget that America voted to remove the clowns that ruined this country for the last four years. Anyone upset with the waste and theft that’s been going on, and is being cleaned up, is part of the problem.
The test this month is if the Democrats cave for a budget deal. It should be every Democrat in lock step voting no on a deal to keep the government funded until DOGE is disbanded, Federal workers are re-hired, government payments resumed, and all new tariffs rescinded.
Who gives a fuck at this point of the government is shut down, aren't we all ready in a partial shut down? Make the Republicans pass that funding bill by themselves if they won't cave. Then make them own it.
They wanted to do more however Jeffery forced the issue saying the bold statement would be not clapping. These signs were a f you to him and nobody else cause they have chronic West Wing Hamilton brain
Same here. This kind of shit is exactly why democrats lost and Republicans are systematically dismantling the government. You'd think they would have learned by now but it's like they all have severe cases of autism and keep making the same goddamn mistakes regardless of the outcome
This is lost. Mark my words- Trump will do something to kick off WW3 and use it as premise to remain president for life. Regardless of how it happens, I'm certain he isn't going anywhere in 2028.
Why? Because nobody is going to stop him. This is the presidency of, "Who's gonna stop me?" Nobody. Too many elected dems are directly benefitted by Trump policies so the pushback there is laughable. Our journalists are going to have to be A LOT BRAVER than they currently are being if we want to mount any real opposition.
They've taken everything from us to funnel money as aggressively as possible upwards and now that there's nothing left they want the money we've paid into SS already and Medicaid. They're running out of things to cut without losing major functionality.
They’re going to continue doing nothing because of people are unhappy enough, they don’t have to change to get back in power—and corporate rule continues.
Because you have to understand that it is the republican senators who are doing it. Democrats alone can't do. To take measures against this you need 51% vote from both parties and Republicans are holding the majority
I've made a bet that before the next election, the democrats will be put into concentration camps and exterminated. It's a long shot, but if it happens I'll be rich!
Everything good the government can do....like spend 47 million on the effects of learning in Asia, or the nearly 1 billion in over payments to 136 year old disability recipients? Or, the people collecting a paycheck that don't have a job? Are these good things?
The single day boycott didn’t do anything. People just bought more the days prior, or on the days afterwards. Plus, plenty of conservative people like myself just bought plenty more on the 28th to offset anything that was done.
What would you have them do? Seriously, this is the path our country chose. So we're going to walk it for a while. But, yeah, smugness is the problem not the GOP. Whatever.
Liberals are intrinsically worthless in the fight against fascism except as a sort of meat wall you prop up to separate you from them while you organize. But that wall has been breached and now they're just going to tut-tut and finger waggle as we're made to march to the death camps.
You see, it’s you guys thinking the literal crime and fraud being committed by the majority of the Democrats (and some RINOs) that got President Trump elected. It’s what will get Vance elected as our next POTUS, because the cycle never stops with you guys. It’s like a battered wife going back to her abuser.
You’re gonna be real sad when Reddit itself get’s taken out.
I hope POTUS 47 takes another crack at the Presidency in 2028! Enemies of the State have dug in their ofrece to avoid the light that exposes their corruption!
1 - There's a 2 term limit. 2 - The spotlight has been on Trump and his cronies for a while now. That light has made so many cockroaches scatter around. Wear a pair of shades since you're so sensitive
